It depends what it is you want to do. Do you want to just be able to access your files, or do you want to be able to take full control of your computer and see your desktop on the other persons PC?

I think you'll have to be a lot more specific about what it is you want to do. Connect to someone elses PC in a game? Access files? Use it as a proxy server? There are a lot of ways to take what you're asking.

Objective: Access my files from my parents computer Home XP --> Media Center XP
I would like to be able to access some movies from my parents computer on my own.

just use a flash drive and transfer them to it and then put it on you computer and bingo

So are you wanting to connect over the internet, or over a home network? Do you live with them?

nah it would be over the internet - its about 30 miles or so if that matters. They use satelite and i use cable.
