GT5:Prologue penalty system is retarded

You accidentally tap a barrier while you're at full throttle. Barrier penalty: 4 seconds. Your car becomes unstable from the penalty and wipes out into the grass in the center. Shortcut penalty: 4 seconds. You're still trying to get out. Shortcut penalty: 4 seconds.
You're recovering from overshooting, a car sideswipes your front end. Ramming penalty: 4 seconds.
You overshoot into the inner area of the next turn. Shortcut penalty: 4 seconds.
You're taking a tight turn, a car hits you from behind. Ramming penalty: 4 seconds.
You're taking a turn and clip the car in front of you. No penalty. The clipping sends you inward. Shortcut penalty: 4 seconds.
You try to pass on the inside and your left wheels are in the grass. Shortcut penalty: 4 seconds. Which causes you to lose control and overshoot. Shortcut penalty: 4 seconds.
A heavier car forces your right wheels of the track. You spin out. Ramming penalty: 4 seconds.

Did they just release this information WW? I hadn't heard this before, sounds obnoxious like K_A said. I think they're just trying to make the game more competitive, and you've gotta figure if this applies with Online Multiplayer mode than everyone is going to have to suffer, so it's equal.

The game is out. This is shit that's happened to me. There are no penalties in the first 3 sets of missions, but the S class missions, one make races and multiplayer have penalties to varying degrees.

Well, honestly. Idk what to tell you. I guess just don't tap the walls :) --- What i've learned over time is that by abiding by these rules it honestly makes you a better driver on the game, which is what they are imo, intended for. It's like working out with the wrong techniques, if you would just go ahead and use the right techniques and start with smaller way and work your way up the correct way the benefits are much better and you are more efficient.

You really can't do much about cars hitting your from behind or suddenly pulling in front of you.

I'm not big on racing games, but I enjoyed the earlier Gran Turismo games.

I love this GT5 they just released, even though I haven't had a chance yet to sit down and honestly play it and see how bad it really is. Hmph.

I like racing games like Burnout Revenge where the object is to destroy all in your way and win that way.

Well, the C, B, and A class missions don't have the penalty system, so they're pretty good, except that there's certain missions that you can only do with a certain car that will take many tries.
