So, today was a good day to top it off. I got a call back and I'm now officially employed somewhere, full-time, $9 an hour (not much, but eh).

Then I got a phone call from a friend of mine. Turns out someone I went to school with (and one of the few people I actually cared about) died earlier this evening.

I'm not sure how to think or feel right now and I'm sort of in a blaze.

Shit, man. Sorry to hear that.

Congrats on the job, though?

I'm sure there's something about life giving you sugar and lemons and making pie that can be said here, but I can't think of it.

Sorry to hear about your friend, grats on the job.

I gave his family a call and talked to his sister for a short stint. Felt really tense, especially since I kinda didn't know he had a sister and I just wanted to talk to his mom.

As for the job, tomorrow I gotta sign some paperwork (W-4 and I-9 and all that fun stuff).

Thanks for everything! :)

I hope this doesn't distract you from learning new things at your job. Just take it all in, relax, breathe, and it'll be fine. That shows character to call the family. They needed it, and you did too.

It won't. Can't let a bump stop me from progressing on.

And I felt it was the right thing to do. He was a really good guy and he's going to be really missed.

Sorry to double post and I know it's irrelevant, but I wanted to post his obituary:

Um, how did he die? Longterm illness?

From what I've heard, accidental overdose.

I've never really bought in to the term accidental overdose.. but yeah, sorry to hear that.

Neither do most of us who knew him. But I think, for the most part, we just don't want to think in terms that it was intentional because it'd just detract from the person we knew.

Don't think about how he died. Just remember how he lived.
