View Full Version : Nickel Nose test.
When you go to a Soda Machine, and get for example, a 60 cent drink and use a Dollar, do you grab your change first or your drink.
I noticed myself grabbing the change first the other day, and realized how stingy I must've looked, haha! I'm very money stingy and it occurred to me that most people probably don't grab the change first, keep in mind, the change and drink came at the same time. So use that hypothetically.

I usually grab the drink, and then get the change. I'm more interested in my purchase.

Change first, because I'm stood right in front of the change slot. And it's easier to see/hear someone nicking your drink, as they've got to bend down and open the cover, rather than just stick out a hand and slide the change out of the open slot.

Why would someone nick your drink?

The soda machine at my work is a slow old piece of shit. It gives you the change way before it starts to vend the drink.

Hey, you never know. Thirst can turn decent people into mass-stealing psychopaths. And when that happens, not a single vending machine in the country is safe!

Why is this thread called "Nickel nose test" ? I dungetit
I've always know somebody that is a nickel nose as greedy/or just stingy on money. I actually have now learned it's more of an anti-semetic comment? Ruh-roh.. But, I've always just known it as being stingy with money, that's where the root of it comes from.

Beck is a scientologist. Don't listen to Beck.
Change first. I also wish there was such a thing as a 60 cent drink. Cheapest vending machines are $1.50

Suppose it depends on how thirsty/hungry I am. Being right-handed, I suppose I would normally reach for the change first, simply because it is generally dispensed on the right side of the machine, not to mention a bit higher than the point at which the vended good is being presented.
Our coke can machines are 60 cents for cans, 1.25 for 20oz drinks. Hmph, I didn't even think anybody would respond to this, and i'm suprised it's basically split, I figured everybody else would just grab the drink first as it's more instinctive to do so, oh well.

Most of the vending machines around here dispense the bottle first, and then the change.

It is harder to put change in your pocket with a soda in your hand, I don't think it is greedy I think it is more effecient to grab the change first and put it away, rather than grab the drink and have to shuffle it around in your hands to be able to put the change away.

Sodas cost $1.35 here but I grab the drink first (the changed pops out about 10 seconds after the drink)

Change comes out first at the machine at work, so that's what I grab.
