Here is a thought about genres and Tao Feng posted at GameSpy.com:
All screenshots... Each generation has a flavor, a genre that defines it and lets it stand out amongst all others. In the earliest days of the industry it was the basic 2D adventure/platformers. As time pushed forward and so too did technology, the 16-bit/32-bit era was primarily defined by third-person games, RPGs and advanced sports games. In this generation, the flavor seems to be fighters, but with so many fighting games it can become hard to differentiate the amazing from the shovelware. With the genre coming into its own in the 128-bit console war John Tobias, president of Studio Gigante, explains why Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus is set to take the Xbox by storm and leave all other fighting games in its wake.
