Is there any way to do this? I think they're ripped straight from a DVD, and they're pretty damn high quality videos. I'd prefer to play them on my DVD player rather than my computer. Can it be done?

It depends on the DVD player and the codec. Most DVD players can't, however.

Can I convert them to a different file type that will work, assuming AVI's wont? If so, what would I use to do such a thing?

Nero should be able to do it.
I was trying to burn anime fansubs to dvd's to play on my tv. IT did read the disk but the subtitles got cut off. Maybe you'd have better luck.

I don't need subtitles so I don't care about that. Got House seasons 1 and 2.

There is a DVD Player created by LG that can play AVI MPEG etc, you name it. It can play any compressed DivX Avi. It is a really nice dvd player and prices at $99.99 [$100]. I own it so I should know.
I tried to a long ass time ago but I had to convert to mpg. they were still chopped and kept freezing though.
