View Full Version : Your Insurance Rate?
I'm not sure where the old thread on this is, BUT, I'd just like to get another feel of how everyone's rates are.
Here in Florida, APPARENTLY our PIP has been driving our rates up for the past few years and we're among the highest state on average for Insurance.
I know that I pay 173 a month averaged into my parents plan, which saves my ass basically because apparently i'd be paying over $300 a month for for full coverage if I was on my own plan.

APPARENTLY our PIP coverage expires today, so hopefully my next bill for insurance will be considerablly lower, until then unknowing what will be upcoming, what is everyone elses rates?
*Ah, and I've had two speeding tickets in the past year, Actually, they're almost exactly a year ago, and my rates have been killer ever since :(

My car+renter's insurance on a single car and apartment is ~$160 a month, for me and Nikki.
Oh, and by the way, for speeding tickets. You can have the charge changed to like faulty equipment(pretty much that your speedometer read wrong or something.) The ticket costs more that way, but it doesn't go on your insurance. That's what my mum did.

On my provisional license, on my parent's car, it would cost £1200 a year ($2400). If I had my full license, it would be £1000/year. This is on a 51-reg Honda HRV (2001).
If I bought my own banger, it would be about half that.
Ouch man.
Ah and K_A i've never really though about trying to put it down as something different. Oh well shit's way in the past, hopefully they'll get written off in a few years ( actually I think 25 is the age it happens :( ) Oh well.

Ahh well for future reference, if you get a speeding ticket, ask your lawyer (if you have one) to have it changed to faulty equipment. You could probably do it yourself, but I dunno how. Mum did it through her lawyer.

My insurance right now is roughly 100 bucks a month on my parents plan. Zero tickets so far, knock on wood, and no accidents. Plus my car is about 10 years old, so that helps keep the rates low. Also the main breaks for prices are at 22, and 25 I believe.

I'll have to ask Abby, she's the one that manages our bills since my memory is so god damn terrible.

I've probably not spent about $4,000 on insurance. Hooray.

$750 every 6 months. I've had 4 speeding tickets in the past 5 years, but according to Texas law, you can take defensive driving once every 12 months to clear a pending ticket from your record, or you can take probation as often as you get off of it (if the judge will give it to you) for the pending ticket to not count on your record. Both of these cost slightly more than just paying the ticket and are a pain, but I have a clean record and don't worry about speeding.

So I'm right to read that as you speed a lot?

Pretty much, though I used to much more. All that time on probation really mellowed me out.
