Does anyone still play old school starcraft?

I've been wanting to play again since I got my laptop just haven't gotten around to it yet, might go look for the copy once I get off work or something, and who all is planning on getting SC2 when it hits the sales floor?

I still play occasionally. Maybe once every 3 months or so.

Not enough people play it online for it to really be worth playing other than single player.

Damn that sucks, Guess I just have to wait for them to announce Starcraft 2's release date, and then wait another 3 years.

Well, I'm going off what I saw 6 months ago. Since SC2 was announced, maybe more people are playing SC1 online. It could happen.

Well, when I heven heard rumors about Diablo 3 being announced I got right back onto the bandwagon and am wanting to play again as of now, just a matter of time before I can find my CDs :)

I don't have my original SC CD, only Brood War. I would probably kill myself trying to play SC again, I like Dawn of War much better, I'm hoping SC2 takes a few things from it...

It takes like 2 hours to download starcraft with a broadband connection, from what I remember.

Well, I don't have a lot of interest in downloading it either. ;)

If you get a chance, try Dawn of War and its expansions, they handle a lot of things differently. I would say it's a more aggressive style of game, and most basic infantry are handled as squads, allowing for in-combat reinforcement. It kinda makes your economy matter a bit more in combat.

My avatar/sig are taken from Dawn of War, as a matter of fact.

Definately a possibility... how much is it?

No idea, my friend Bryan got me my copies for my birthday.

There's the original game for somewhere near $30, Winter Assault expansion for about $20, and the Dark Crusade expansion for about $30 as well. The original game sports the basic 4 Races, Winter Assault gives you 1 additional, and Dark Crusade gives you 2 more to play with for a total of 7 fairly distinct races to play.

I do happen to know that you can acquire it by other means, and it does have a TCP Direct Host/Join option to play with friends, you just can't play on the online service without authentic Keys.
