Also, why would it be stupid for the one you love to buy you something that would make you happy? That's like saying men are stupid for buying women a shiny rock someone found on the ground and put it on a shiny metal loop, or buying you flowers as they all serve no practical purpose.

Buy him a truck, he goes out driving more, the wife/gf gets more time alone, and there's the added bonus that she can then use the old car whenever she wants.
