This may seem like a knockoff of zombo.com, but would there be any way to encrypt a song (I am not internet savvy) onto the homepage of the site? I'm not joking at all, I think zelaron needs a theme song. Perhaps it may attract more members? Possibly cause guests to join?

That may drive people away too, though.

I suppose. As long as it is not Ween's Roses are Free, we should be fine.

If it were the home page that shows the forums, and that we all have to visit to get to another forum, it would get quite annoying, unless there was some way to disable it in User Options or on the page.
If, however, a portal page was brought back, and the tune was on that, then it would be better than having it on the main forum page.
And if the tune were one of these ludicrously catchy ones, well, it'd drive people insane AND make them remember Zelaron. Two birds with one stone, baby! :D

I was thinking Big Things Poppin' by T.I.
Now for the serious suggestion. Beck - E-Pro

Better yet, how about a radio station.
I think chruser had mentioned something about bringing back a Zelaron Radio station, i'd be down for that, maybe even have some of the members host some music, etc, become the DJ for an hour or something, or just upload their playlist.
But for a theme song, I was thinking something along the lines of Metallica, maybe Enter Sandman or something.. :)

That'd be pretty good. I got some good Bhangra songs for those who have a taste for the punjabi music scene.
At my house I have an unlimited amount of songs of pretty much every variety. There's tons of country/rock/rap/hip hop/reggae/oldie(classics) it's amazing I was looking the other day and hadn't realized it, lmao...
But yeah, having Radio Zelaron would be sweet.. It'd give me something to listen to at Work..

Maybe the funniest member here could have a short show each week too.
Haha, I don't think i'd actually want to hear what most of these mo'fo's actually sound like, my treble doesn't go up that high to meet with the squeakyness .. rofl.

A theme song on the homepage would be quite irritating, I would highly recommend an option to mute it (and have it stored in a cookie or something) to keep it muted.
I don't like the idea entirely either, but I do however, like the idea of Zelaron Radio.

All music.

I mean, would it be user-submitted music, or what?
It could be setup through a program type of podcast, or Winamp playpists, WMV playpist, doesn't matter. It would be through streaming, and I suppose whoever sets it up could control it, be that Chruser WW whoever, and if they wanted to have more fun with it and have less responsibility, they could appoint members to take over DJ duties of puting up their own playlists and music styles, and eventually i'm sure they could make timeslots for each person etc etc so people could tune in when they wanted to hear a specific type of music...

I wholeheartedly agree with your assesment of the situation. User-submitted music for a Zelaron Radio would make my penis go hard. Do it.

I'm quite liking the idea of a podcast. Maybe each week a different member can do a podcast about themselves, or something, with a few of their favourite tunes thrown in.
EDIT: Maybe each week, too, members submit questions or topics for the member doing the podcast to answer or discuss. Or the member doing the podcast could talk about a certain topic, or even do something on a few news items from the previous week.

Yeah definately. Podcasting is the way to go these days, they're quite entertaining no matter what they are, and if these forums had them I'm positive activity and new members would spike, and ultimately that's what everyone wants, or atleast hopefully it would, if the word got out just a bit.

I'm not 100% sure what a podcast is, anyone got a rough explanation?
I would enjoy DJing a radio station. Any Hip Hop fans out there would probably appreciate my selection.

Well if a radio station is coming about I do have almost 70GB of music of wildly varying styles and would be happy to contribute.

Nothing wrong with it, but that's the most I've ever heard of. In fact, until now I was the most I've ever heard of. You trump me by about 350%.
I'd rather have it be more like listening to the radio, but with user-specific songs. We all want to listen to something we can enjoy, not just one artist that a specific member nuts over.

Jeezy is getting old nowadays.
Anyway, is this at all possible Chruser/WW? Seems like we have a lot of interest in it..

Not really sure what you mean by user specific songs and how 70GB including probably 30 different genres/subgenres is "one artist" or how what yo usaid has anything to do with what MJ said but please make some suggestions. 70gb is a lot but I am always looking to expand!
Time to be a music elitist and say 70 GB isn't much music. I keep my selection extremely trimmed and I have about 35 GB of music. If I didn't regularly get rid of stuff I didn't like I would probably be in at around 500 GB. I have friends with tens of thousands of CDs and vinyl albums.
Wow you guys are crazy, I have like 5-6Gigs and I figured that was somewhat of a lot.

I've got 4.23 GB of my favorite music/songs. That's good enough for me, and if I discover more music that I like, it'll be great!

Grav, that sounds awesome. PM me I would be very interested in what kind of music you have. I never feel like I have enough and I am always deleting stuff. It seems like you are much further down this path and I'd be honored to bask in the brilliance of your collection.

Wow. You were able to cut down from 500 to 35? If only you could do that with your weight. Even if you were able to cut your weight in half, I'd be proud. Just 250, Grav. Just to 250.

I'm still a complete noob compared to most of the music lovers I know. I've been buying/selling gear over the past three months to get the right headphone setup, and I've hit a point that sounds very good. As of now my playlist is almost entirely hip hop and classic rock, but I plan to delve into a lot of different genres now... it's been a slowly accelerating process, but expedited by the right gear. In a year or two my collection (and tastes) should be much more diverse.

I started with purely classic rock and some other stuff (I was into Primus for a while) and gravitated into Jam which is full of boring crap (and some gems!) then I found Ween (who transcend genre and master all of them) and then started stocking up on Funk, then went to electronic and that is a huge genre with a lot of experimental music coming out all the time. I guess I have some indie shit like Spoon and more unusal music like Tom Waits or Nick Cave. Really I couldn't list all the different genres I have but I have a lot more than hiphop/rock. My hiphop collection is still pretty small because I am kind of picky.
Shifting styles often helped me trim my collection to remove a lot of stuff I didn't like anymore.
Having a good audio setup makes it harder and harder for me to listen to 99% of electronica. Being able to decipher things such as when an audio sample is abruptly cut off during playback in a track really makes music sound shitty to me.
