Congrats Thanatos, I'm sure you are loving your Colts finally beating the Patriots. I'll tell you, I was rooting for you all throughout the playoffs, especially when the Eagles went down, but I was definitely losing faith after that first half of football I saw last night. I'm glad to see your boy Peyton finally put together a decent game and get it done!
Colts will crush the Bears, no doubt.

HHHHHEEEELLLLL YYYYEEEEAAAAHHHH. At the end of the first half I was ready to go lock myself in my house and never come out because of the embarassment of being a Colts fan. Can you imagine if they had lost to the Pats yet again? We never would have heard the end of it. I'm so freakin happy. This town is going NUTS. I work downtown and people are so friendly to each other yelling GO BLUE randomly. I love it.
What a great day. We have all the momentum going for us right now. We are NOT losing to the Bears. Ain't no way, no how.
GO COLTS!

Yes, Miami. They can't possibly lose to the Bears. If they do, I will never forgive Peyton.
Thanatos

They won't lose, in fact I guarantee they'll win.
I think I'm gonna throw a hugeass superbowl party. Need to stock up on the alcohol on Saturday though (liquor stores in Indiana are closed Sunday :() Holy crap, I can't wait.
Yeah, and Im going to drive down there and tailgate it... only live like 30-40min away
The Bears will not lose. Clearly, you haven't watched enough Bears games.

Haha, the Bears suck. Grossman will get exposed, and the Bears have a great defense, but the Colts WR Corps, is WAY too deep for them. I'm predicting 35-17 Colts. No FGs for the Colts, only TDs.

I'm picking 28 - 14 Colts. Grossman has been inconsistent. The Bear's defense is wonderful, and I predict the Bears will intercept Peyton's pass near the endzone if not taking it in there in the first quarter, but Peyton will not choke this game. He won't let this opportunity slip away. Of course I'm biased because I want to see an AFC team win again. Having said all that, I think the Colts defense will do good as well, as they have been in the playoffs so far. I predict Addai will have a monster game.

The bears will win this one.
I'm almost positive. Thomas Jones is going to have a hell of a game and the bears defense is too much for colts offense. It will be a defensive game.

Only about half the people that watch the superbowl watch it for the football, if that much. It's mostly for the commercials and the half-time show, and just to say you did.

True. I watched it for the Colts greatest victory in Indianapolis history, though.

Don't be a retard. It is considered a world championship.
Titusfied
2007-02-05, 12:58 PM
Why would you think there are more than 4 QUARTERS? I mean, that's the reason they are called quarters, because there are 4 of them to make a whole. OT is just additional time to settle a winner.
Lenny
2007-02-05, 01:11 PM
Two halves is better...
And how in Gods name can it be called a "world championship"? No-one else in the world plays American football! Having "World" in the title indicated that more than just America is firstly involved with the sport, and secondly actually plays in the sport.
If we called the winners of the Premiership "World Champions", then we'd be murdered in our beds!

Because football is played elsewhere, but only in America is anyone any good.

That's no excuse! They're American champions, yes, but that doesn't automatically make them World Champions.
WetWired

IMO, as long as the NFL allows teams to be started outside America (which I have no idea if it would), then it can be a world championship, as the American exclusiveness is not the fault of the tournament organizers. To the extent of my knowledge, though, there are no proffessional American football teams outside of America, so there really isn't anyone who could claim to be snubbed by the declaration to be world champions.

America is the world duh. Everyone else is just living in America's world.
Personally I think it's pretty stupid that the winner of the superbowl is called the world champion, as good as they might be, you can't call yourself a world champion unless you're facing other people in the world. It doesn't make logical sense.

Actually, the first game to be played overseas is happening next year. It was a pretty big deal when it went down.
It IS a World Championship. Point is, there are European Football leagues, Canadian Football leagues, etc., however, people only play there with the hopes of making it to the NFL. The best players in the WORLD play in the NFL, and it's the highest benchmark one can attain when trying to excel at the sport of American Football.
It's not exactly an International sport based on popularity, however, it is recognized as a World Championship. Here is the article on ESPN.com that talks about the overseas games:

Putting it like that makes the World Champion title make more sense. I don't claim to know anything about football.

Yeah I'd say that's a healthy dosage of pwning.
On the other hand though, can you truly say it's a world championship if no one has the will or desire to contend with the NFL? It isn't REALLY a world championship unless it is an international game between opposing countries... At least imo.
Titusfied
2007-02-06, 01:24 PM
It's international in the sense that people from all around the globe play on the teams though. Just because the team isn't from England, for example, doesn't mean there aren't any players on the team from England.
