Yeah, so I have a snow day today. We got a front that dropped about 5 inches, and will drop a couple more today. It's really blizzard-like outside with the winds. Hurray for video games!

We've had a foot of snow...yet no day off school. :(

All the time, people go on about health and safety, but when the whole school grounds are covered in complete sheet ice, well, it doesn't matter then. Someone slipped over, cracked their head on the ground and has had to go to hospital, but still, a day in school.

AND IT'S SNOWMAN SNOW! YOU ROLL IT AND IT STICKS!

But anyway, we're expecting another couple of feet tonight, so all is not lost. :D

Where the hell did it snow 5 inches?

It's hot in Texas.

Lenny

Minnesota, I think.

Willkillforfood
2006-03-13, 12:08 PM
A lot of the Midwest. There was a huge outbreak of tornadoes/severe storms and snow followed.

Jamesadin

5 Inches? What the hell, thats absolutely nothing. Where do you live?

Lenny

Minnesota!!!!

We had a foot. :D but that's nothing. :(

There was what, 100 tornadoes because of this front but at least you got a snow day! :p

Lenny

Tornado Day!

Radio crackles on: "Due to the Tornadoes, the following schools will be closed..."

AH, nuts. Mine hasn't popped up. Stupid Tornadoes...

Mm, we had a 4 on the Fujita scale in November and we didn't get out of school. Many homes were utterly devastated. There was a golf course which was almost entirely engulfed by the storm. Too bad there are so many trees and shit ...I wish I could have seen a good video of it. My uncle took a good picture of it though, thing was fucking huge - from miles away it looked so big even.

Apparently it takes, on average, two and a half hours to shutdown a school. If ti doesn't start snowing during the schoolday, then we have no chance. Teachers are too lazy. :(

Some schools around here get closed when there's .5 inches of snow :P.

MightyJoe

That weather would be good for us, maybe tomorrow we'll get it. Today it was sunny, and windy prolly mid 50s.

We could have 18 inches of snow here and the school wouldn't close (its happened). The buses dont run if it is below -40 C, and only once did the school not open, because it was -55 C (-67 F) outside with the wind.

We've been under a tornado watch since last night.

We've been under a tornado watch since last night.

Interesting fact, the largest tornado to hit the U.S. last year hit my town in Western Kentucky. Cool, right? :p You'd expect that from Texas or some shit.

This was in southwestern Minnesota. Yeah, I went sledding today after smoking 5 bowls. It was the shit.

Ha, another snow day today. Last night I went to a state basketball tournament game in Minneapolis and we kicked ass. That and the fact that I made a special peanut butter snack to enhance the experience. I took two Ritz-like crackers, peanut buttered both sides, stuck a ten-sac in between, wrapped it in tin foil, and baked it for 20 minutes at 300. I'm still buzzed from it, but then again I am still fairly new.

It snowed here today. And i fell asleep with my window open. I wake up shivering. :-\

Jessifer

Well then don't sleep with your window open during snowy season, y0. :weird:

He has to, because closing it makes WAAAAAAAAY too much sense.

It's freezing in my bedroom in the morning anyway, but I just love the feeling of being completely curled up in my blankets. Cozy. :)

Lenny
2006-03-17, 11:04 AM
Cold bed when you go to sleep, toasty warm when you wake up. That's the way to do it!

sciencekid
2006-03-17, 01:33 PM
but then you don't want to get out of bed. :( but it is better then the reverse though

Lenny
2006-03-17, 01:43 PM
There's an answer to that.

Mean alarm clocks!!

http://www.uberreview.com/2006/03/top-ten-most-annoying-alarm-clocks.htm/

My favourites have to be #s 10, 3 and 1. How annoying would it be to have to run after your alarm clock every single morning? :p

HandOfHeaven
2006-03-18, 10:08 AM
I totally want to get #10 or #1. Piss my parents off so much.

sciencekid
2006-03-18, 03:26 PM
if you want to piss off you parents get one and leave the house before they can catch you lol.. or better yet get the grenade alarm, glue the battery lid shut and run off with the pin! hahahaha rotfl they would get so mad!

Sovereign
2006-03-18, 05:12 PM
I'd just break it :-\.

Lenny
2006-03-18, 05:48 PM
But it would mean having to get out of bed, rummage, in a state of anger and tiredness, for the hammer, find the blasted grenade and smash it. By which time you'll be too awake to go back to sleep.

Grenade 1 - 0 Sov.

Jamesadin
2006-03-18, 05:49 PM
Yeah, the grenade would kick soo much ass.. :P

Lenny
2006-03-18, 05:54 PM
I'd prefer the ones that run away...or the one that goes into the ceiling.

Not only are they annoying in the way that they run away, but you also get your morning excercise done at the same time. :)

I've been known to destroy things in my sleep.

Id be suprised if that thing could wake me up though

HandOfHeaven
2006-03-18, 06:34 PM
Ha, I sleep-walk sometimes. One time I woke up on the mound of a baseball diamond 5 blocks from my house.

Lenny
2006-03-18, 06:40 PM
If it doesn't, then we've got other methods.

OK Johnny, bring in the Shells!

-----

What's all this got to do with Snow Days?

At Secondary School, I've only had 2 snow days in 5 years...and I can't remember having any in Primary School.

Nice little community school. We all went to school on sledges. :)

HandOfHeaven
2006-03-18, 06:59 PM
Well, when you get a 2-inch layer of ice and blizzard like conditions, it's difficult to drive. Plus, I'm from an area school, so if my town gets a lot of snow, it's cancelled because most of the students live here, or the other half live in a town 30 miles away.

sciencekid
2006-03-18, 07:24 PM
hey, what if you rig the grenade to go off 10 seconds after they get turned off and throw a whole bunch of them in    lol that would be hell!

Sovereign
2006-03-19, 12:01 AM
All the snow from the previous storm I mentioned melted. :'(

Lenny
2006-03-19, 03:29 AM
We've still got patches of snow a foot deep, and a square foot wide, justs at there. In the middle of fields, at the sides of drives.

Yesterday was the first day it hasn't snowed in over 3 weeks. Which was pretty interesting...to say we're in the middle of March.

HandOfHeaven
2006-03-19, 11:29 AM
We've still got about 10 inches looming around here.

Lenny
2006-03-19, 11:41 AM
And we've got a giant bank of snow clouds rolling in from all directions!

Whoo! :D:grin::D

Willkillforfood

and Turks from the South!

Lenny
2006-03-20, 12:57 PM
Nah, Southeners from the South.

All the Cornwallians have rebelled! RUN!!

It turns out that the snow clouds have turned into rain clouds!

OK, my favourite weather, but School doesn't get called off because of a Rainstorm.

HandOfHeaven
2006-03-20, 07:28 PM
It's cool when it rains for a long time and then freezes and snows. Happens all the time here in Minnesota. It sucks when you're walking though.

Lenny
2006-03-21, 10:20 AM
Walking in the rain?

Some rain can be fun.

Go out to the Astroturf with a couple of mates and play Football...great stuff. No-one but us blasting a ball at each other in the rain. :)

At my school we had 2 mercury days because someone was playing with viles of mercury somewhere in school. The 2 days were JUST before spring break when all the tests happen (I have an A and B day block schedule, so I missed all 8 classes).
