I'm not the beer-swilling "America has no sins" Patriot, but when all your friends mostly listen to J-Rock and the only bands they can name is Bowling For Soup, Mindless Self-Indulgence and the other countless pop bands with as much talent as I have in my big toe, you get fed up with it all.

I love Killswitch Engage (moreso with the new vocalist since The End of Heartache), Lamb of God and a few others but those are my main 'new' bands. I love good old American thrash like Slayer and Megadeth.

I like these kinds of threads because I learn a good deal about bands to try out since I am hopelessly ignorant of the full rock/metal scene.

Red Hot Chili Peppers...

And I think they're the only band I listen to that I know are American. Oh, and Louis XIV. They're from San Diego. :)

Oh wait...REM are American, right? And The Killers...

I have no idea. :D

EDIT: Oh...and Orson. SHutup Dom...

Stereophonics are Welsh.

In Flames are Swedish.

Conjure One are probably Dutch or German.

The Flaming Lips are from Oaklahoma.

Alot of the bands I like are Canadian or British...
However, Modest Mouse, Coheed and Cambria, Louis XIV, and The Postal Service are some good American Bands.

You know what the problem with Louis XIV is? They won't release their first album over here. And it seems not many Americans have actually heard of them. :p

We need to start a "Your Favourite Canadian/British Bands" thread. :)

If you like Alexisonfire, try the band Silverstein. They are Canadian as well, and I personally like them more than Alexisonfire (Though, they are still very good).

OK Go are amazing! Their new video is great! :p

They're from Chicago too, so I guess they count as being American.
