Im a big roller coaster fan. Is anyone else here a fan? If so, list your favorite one. For me, i love Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure. I havent had the pleasure of riding the new one (Cant remember the name right now) but i will journey out to try it this summer.

I loved Top Thrill Dragster and Millenium Force. After I rode those two, nothing near where I live was interesting anymore. Can't wait to go back.

My favourite at the mo has to be Oblivion at Alton Towers. I also liked Air and Nemesis there.

The only other theme park I've been to is Blackpool. Revolution was good there, and I can't wait to go back some time and try the Big One.

I looove rollercoasters. Shivering Timbers at Michigans Adventure is my favorite. It's like...OMG! It's the second best wooden rollercoaster in the US, the tallest peak is at 125ft, gets over 65mph, loads of airtime...

Yeah...I have a fondness for wooden rollercoasters. One of these days, though...I gotta try the RipCord, though it's not a rollercoaster at all. Rather, they strap you belly down into a harness, pull you up to 183ft, and then let you go. You swing out over the lake. Fuckin' awesome.

The new one at Six Flags Great Adventure is Kingda Ka, and I went there to ride it, but it wasn't open that fucking day.. I was soo pissed. You can't beat the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world though!

I love roller coasters, they're my best friend.

Yea, Cedar Point is a great place. I think this is the first summer where I didn't go down there in about 6 years. Trying to get on all thier coasters in one day is really hard, but I did it once or twice. Now they might have too many to hit them all in one day.

Kingda Ka

Thats the name of it. I saw the construction of it when i was there last and nearly shit my pants just seeing how high it goes.

Ive been on Nitro when its broken down while climbing the lift. Instead of getting u out, they fix it and expect to be in the right frame of mind to ride it. Now thats a thrill rush

Roller Coasters are the ONLY good reason for going to an amusement park. I love Cedar Point solely for the sheer amount of coasters there. Two of my favorites are The Beast at King's Island, and Superman at Six Flags New England.

I think Six Flags Great Adventure has finally put together a cast of rollercoasters that rivals, if not surpasses Cedar Point now.

America has far too many Roller Coasters.

I think I might take a Gap Year and come for a visit, just to go to all these Amusement Parks and ride the Roller Coasters.

The Beast is a pretty decent roller coaster. It's the fastest, highest wooden roller coaster in the world, if I remember correctly. They have another The Beast roller coaster there now that is faster than the original.

I think they have especially with kingda kong, nitro, superman, medussia, batman and batman the chiller and all the other great things theyhave there. Oh by the way, the all american scream machine was the first coaster i ever went on. How scary that was

Is that even a possibility for Cedar Point yet, or are you just saying it? I think Kingda Ka is like 420 feet or something. 500+ feet would be scary as shit..

gruesomeBODY

and we would all travel to test it. I say we make Petey the crash guy that gets to ride it while its still in the testing phases

Sovereign

Top Thrill Dragster I believe is 420 feet. Kingda Ka is 456 feet.

It's literally a taller version of Top Thrill with a camel hump to ride over and a slightly faster launch speed. If it was anything really new I would have already taken a ride on it :-\

Id be first in line for the 500 foot one. As long as it's a pneumatically launched ride. I would fucking DIE if i had to take a cable lift up to that height.

Cedar point was the first park to break 200 feet with Magnum xl, first to break 300 feet with Millenium Force, and first to break 400 feet with Top Thrill. They will be first for 500 feet.

the chainlift of the 500 would kill most people cause they would def have a heart attack on the way up. Then the rush down would snap them into a coma. That day will be the day that i truely live

This upcoming November.

King's Island is where The Beast is, I think. It's worth it for that ride.

Thanatos

You're right. They also have some other killer rides, too.

Lenny
2006-01-06, 01:29 PM
Pneumatically launched? How does that work? Surely they don't use compressed air or whatever to shoot the trains round the track and up and over 456ft peaky things?

I quite like the chain method. It really builds up the adrenaline. And a 500ft ride with chains, well, what can you say? WOWOWOWOWOW!

Yeah PKI is about 10 minutes from my house, the rides are amazing. Honestly, some of the best I've ever been on, and there are lots of them. Not only the Beast is there, but the Son of Beast as well, which is the newer, more badass, wooden looping rollercoaster. It's intense shit. I turn 21 in 3 years. Haha... sigh.

Lenny
2006-01-07, 06:21 AM

The power those things must create to launch something that heavy that fast...

I can imagine that the thrill from it must be amazing, but it won't beat the feeling you get whilst being cranked up a 500ft ramp on a chain. Such a build-up.

I can remember when I went to Alton Towers, and went on a ride called Air. Basically you're strapped in (no proper seats) and dangled so you're looking down throughout the whole ride. Well, you get cranked up a big ramp at the start, not too big, under 100ft by far (big for us :)), and so we were there, being cranked up, and the whole thing stopped. The train thingy slipped down a metre or two and stopped. It was very scary, dangled above some jagged rocks, especially when you can't stand heights.

Now that has got to be a bigger thrill then a big blast of air. More hormones and chemicals rushing through your body, a bigger build up to the ride.

I find it much more fun to sit and watch the drunks, go home, and go to bed safe in the knowledge that there isn't a chnace you'll wake up drowning in vomit, or with a cracker of a headache.

But you've got to try sometime. Come University and I may evolve into a budding alcoholic, you never now.

gruesomeBODY

Lenny
2006-01-16, 02:16 PM
But then you'd be footing bills for lots of booze.

And she could be a really mean drunk and go into blind rages at the drop of a hat.

You know, that could be the idea for a 500 footer. Slowly (or at 120mph) go up the 500ft climb to absolute 'pissed out of your skull' drunkeness before flying down a hell of a lot of track that symbolises the different mood swings of a drunk. You get off and you've got an absolute bastard of a headache, which itself symbolises the drunk waking up in the morning and telling their idiotic sister to STOP FUCKING SINGING!
