Anybody play or played D&D 3.5?

We're starting an Eberron campaign pretty soon, and I've been trying to build the most whorish character I can come up with to smash things.

It's got to be an evil character of medium size with at least 1 level of any class, and the total class levels and level adjustment of the race or templates have to add up to 5.

I wanted to go ogre originally, but it's a large creature, so no go. Then I looked at a stonechild (+8 str, +8 con), but it's a level adjustment of 4, so I'd only have 1 level of fighter. While the str and con would be nice, that leaves me lacking a lot of necessary feats for hitting things.

So far, the best I've come up with is a Feral Gargun with 3 levels of fighter. I was going to make it a lvl 3 samurai, but the DM said that that race wasn't applicable for the samurai class.

Feral Garguns get +4 str, +4 con, +2 dex and minus to somethin or other. Additionally, they can use a weapon 1 size larger with no penalty. I'm looking at using a large bastard sword (2d8), a shield (tower?) and full plate. I could go dual wield, but I've had to waste all my feats on two-weapon fighting techniques and my off-hand weapon would have to be something smaller, or I'd never be able to hit anything.

If anyone has a suggestion, throw it at me. The DM said he'll pretty much take anything that fits D&D rules and those few rules he provided. (Btw, I don't want to play a caster. I want to smash things. *picture a big stupid fucking ogre*)

If you're looking for something big, dumb, and beefy, my idea would be to go with a Bugbear and 4 levels of Fighter and/or Barbarian.

+4 STR, +2 DEX, +2 CON, -2 CHR

60 ft Darkvision

You start with 3 levels of Monstrous Humanoid, giving you 3d8 Hit Dice, +2 to your Base Attack, some Save bonuses and skill from those levels of M. Humanoid, and 2 extra feats.

You also get +3 Natural Armor and +4 Racial to Move Silently.

All of that for a level adjustment of +1.

You can be monster classes in DND?

As long as your DM allows it, the game's structured to allow anything.

And wow. 3NA, 2 Feats, and damn good stat adjustments for 1 LA. That's fucking cool. The only thing I've got to consider now if my Feral Gargun is still better than Bugbear (for the extra +1 LA) is powerful build. With powerful build, I can wield a large weapon insead of a medium weapon in 1 hand. (i.e. 1-handed bastard sword doing 2d8 damage instead of 1d10 damage).

Of course, the goliath has that too. +4str -2dex +2con powerful build for LA 1.
Vs FGargun, +4str +2dex +4con -2int good saves, 1 feat, 2 claws, powerful build, and 2 NA for LA 2.

I think the extra 4 dex, 2 con, and NA is worth the extra LA over goliath.
But is 2 con and powerful build > 1 level of fighter, 1d10+1d8 hp, 1NA, 1 feat?
Feats are nice in the beginning... Lets you get where you want to be. The extra hp will be nice too, but powerful build practically doubles my damage. Hrm...
