Anyone use this? If so, what are you opinions on it, and how is it for gaming?
Ask WW. I know he uses one.

My laser mouse is of really poor quality so I use a trackball atm. I wouldn't see why anyone would use one if you had a choice. You have to clean them, and I'm sure they can't get anywhere near the dpi as a laser mouse.

My dad had a trackball mouse not to long ago, an the thing felt slow as shit.

It's ok if you don't have to move very fast in your game, I mean the difference isn't that much off, (I alternate computer that are roughly same specc'd alot). For ex: If playing WoW you don't really notice anything that much, but something among/along the lines of a FPS (Counterstrike, BF2, Doom) you will notice it and your moves won't be as sharp.
Edit: Basically if you had a choice like kan said, go with the Laser, and if you don't one go ahead and buy one :p. The only real good use for a trackball is surfing the net.

My laser mouse likes to spin me around in random directions in games. That and me attaining 30-1 ratios raise supicions of h4x. Well, that and these game enhancement programs I run. They're totally benign though.

That could be due to the surface you've got it on.
If it's a shiny surafce, or a laminated mousemat or whatever, then it does affect it and, as you say, make it spin in random directions.
I use a plain wooden surface, that's smooth as a you'll ever get it, and it works fine. It anythin does start happening then try it on your leg or an excercise book type thing. Works a treat.

Oh yea, slipped my mind. Got a new mouse pad and it's fine it's just that it happened for like a year. I had the same dell mouse pad I'd had for like 4 years so yea ... :P.

I use Microsoft Trackball Explorer, but apparently they don't make them anymore. I like my trackball so much that I've bought like 5 of them so I have one for all the computers I use. And yes, I play CS with a trackball.

I've done that it's actually pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it.

How long did it take you to get used to a trackball mouse to play CS with when you started? I'm asking, because I don't know whether to return mine or not.

I don't know. I had a (different) trackball when I played my first 3D FPS (Quake II). For Doom (2D FPS), I used a mouse, but then again the whole mechanics of playing Doom are a bit different.
