My first ever animations!

I downloaded Macromedia Flash MX early this morning and have spent the day playing around with it.

A days work has produced my first ever animations in Flash.

I drew everything, and recorded everything, and the picture in the Scary movie is of me...but it's a very old picture.

Anywho, here the both are, in all their animated glory. :D

Any constructive criticism will be welcomed with open arms.

I've never tried to work with flash, is it really hard?

Not particularly.

The program comes with mini tutorials and such, after that it's just a case of checking back every so often to see if you're doing it right.

And if ever you get stuck there's loads of tutorials and what not online.

I used to screw around in flash alot, never got any real movies finished though. I was mainly interested in frame by frame animation and just drawing everything by hand. I think I've still got some lame stick figure movement tests somewhere on my pc.

Ya, as long as there's a Medieval Bob in the flash, it'll be a hit for sure.

Soul Harvester, a pretty 'famous' guy I knew from UO, made a flash a long time ago with Dead Bodies Everywhere as the background music, my main char (Medieval Bob) was in it. It was a super success. Point made. kthx

The only Pentium I had was a 100 mhz original, and I didn't do it on that.

You're completely off base here. At best I can recall there being a program that was Intel software, but I didn't even use that because it required a Pentium.

I'll try do some kind of Zelaron series. Each episode is about a different member.

For example the first episode could be "Zelaron: Meet the Crew", another could be "Mantralord: Stormslayer", "Dragoon Elite: Halo Fanatics", "Lenny: Illegal Alien".

I'm gonna try and dig out my old tablet as well today. Draw things left-handed with a pen rather than right-handed with a mouse.

The only problem that will arise is that everyone will sound like, well, me.

So no atter whether you're American, Canadian, Dutch, Swedish or anything else, you'll have an English accent... :D

Heh, I just found some tests I did a while back when I got my new wacom tablet (all frame by frame, no tweening). I just like to do small stuff, like single movements and things like that, I dont really have the patience or interest in making bigger movies.

I have got more stuff backed up on a CD. But after seeing the huge pile of unmarked CD's I'd have to go trough to find them, I dont really care about them.

Oh, and I've found my tablet. I don't know if this means anything to you but it's an:

Aiptek HyperPen 6000.

Nah I dont know that one.

Probably took me around 30 minutes average per clip I think. I've got these nifty programmable buttons on my tablet which I can set to shortcuts or commands. And if I turn my pen around it becomes an eraser. So those 2 functions together really speed up the process of making stuff.

I've got to get used to using the Pen, it's a bit too sensitive atm.

The only problem then is finding somewhere to host the files. The Scary Movie 4 is about 819kb with sound, so the DE one will be a lot bigger.

So yeah, if people just send me their 'lines' I could play around with the frames and make them fit.

And at least then you wouldn't have a Brit taking over your voice... :p

You need to compress the audio files when importing them in/exporting the flash file.

When having a sound imported into your library double click the sound icon or right click/properties on the file to enter the properties menu. There you can set the compression mode for the file.

adpcm = best for button clicks and small sounds like that
MP3 = best for larger music files
Speech = best for speech

Just try different setting and press test to see what quality you are satisfied with.

Make sure when exporting the file that you dont check the override sound settings box otherwise the settings you chose for all the files will be disregarded.

But if you got a movie with just speech, then you might aswell DO choose override sound settings in the export menu and pick "speech", so that you wont have to configure all the individual sound files.

I should've done it with a different letter than 'a' as the 'a' doesn't move if you switch from QWERTY to Dvorak.
