Interesting little thing I noticed...
If, when carrying the PR and SMG combo, you carry the PR in your right hand and the SMG in your left (opposite of how people typically carry it), it helps a lot in close range.
Think about it this way: Ever charged into a fight with that combo and had it finished via melee? I know I have. Well if you carry the combo normally, then you melee with the SMG. But if you switch hands, you'll melee with the PR, which seems to be a much more powerful blow, and somewhat faster. Who knows? That split-second could mean the game.
Try it out, let me know if it makes a difference.

I was actually thinking this last night. I never got around to really testing it out, but I think you could be on to something.

I don't think it is any different actually. It just seems as if the PR does more damage because it removes shields fast usually resulting in a one blow kill. I think since the PR is the covenant equivalent of the SMG they made them do the same damage and have hte same attack speed, but we could definately test this out.

Well, dual PRs will kill with direct shots a LOT quicker than dual SMGs. Problem is, when straffing, PRs are a LOT harder to hit..

Well yah. SMG bullets hit insatly, PR shots do not. You have to lead people with them.

Ya lead them a little to the side they are going. It's an art if you're at the combo's most effective distance. It's a shame they took the damage down it used to be real nice, but now if you stay too far outta melee range/ shotgun range, it often looses its power to other combos, or the almighty BR. One of my tricks I used to do when I used it was my movement towards people. Imagine being observed on a plane(not the flying kind, the 4 quadrant kind) from above when you are about to fight them. You move in towards them, getting a lot of damage, and usually taking off their shields. Then at a perfect distance(took practice to find), you move back out and away, on both planes, usually in a parabolic shape. Think of how more difficult it is to lead a target that is moving away and to the side. It used to give me the cutting edge in any SMG/PR battle. Now with the BR it just seems kinda useless, no one really carries those combos too much anymore.

Which is a positively spectacular idea when you don't have host.

The plasma pistol is actually one of the best guns in the game. It's impeccable at close range, (charge up and punch, instant kill) You can pair it with any human gun and have a deadly combo, and if you pair it with a BR it's for sure the most versatile/deadly weapon set in the game.

Yeah, only bad thing about it is the noise the charge-up makes. Makes it hard for sneaking around the board, and whatnot..

I never even noticed other people can hear it. i'm gonna have to experiment with that.

Yeah, its kinda like the sword. You can hear when someone equips it if you are close enough. You can hear the buzzing from the charge if he is aorund the corner.

Also, if you are holding a charged up plasma pistol you still appear on the motion tracker whether or not you are actually moving.

No, I think you still do. Try it out in a custom game 2nite and report back.

I've actually seen definitive proof that you DON'T show up on the map when croutched, even with the PP. I get in those confrontation all the time. Either that, or I just don't really notice if they are on the map?
Either way, should be checked out.

I'm fairly sure you don't show up holding a charged PP as well.

No you don't, because it's a motion sensor I believe. I can sneak around with it charged pretty easily, no one has spotted my blip on the radar.
