`(B) The term `marihuana' does not include industrial hemp. As used in the preceding sentence, the term `industrial hemp' means the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration that does not exceed 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.'.

Well...Atleast it's better than nothing.

You guys are a bunch of pathetic potheads, heh. Imagine what your life is like now when it's illegal, and then think about what it would be like if it was legal. It's obviously not controlled tightly for a reason, so little kids like yourself can think you're doing something cool, breaking the law, and to allow a large percentage of the population to become drug addicts as young kids, so we'll have many many idiots to fill the blue collar positions of our great Amrerican workforce.

I'd like a number 10, king sized, and please don't spit on it.

It's a shame that you have such a low opinion of the smokers, I have a High/higher IQ and I smoke very often...

Just in case you didn't notice.. it's not just the blue collar workforce that indulges... It's everyone.

I think we smoke because of the work, not work because of the smoke...

Anyway, there's no reason to be so negative, otherwise keep that shit to yourself man...

Typical, very typical. :p

People who can limit themselves, sure. I've known people who are very intelligent and smoke weed, occasionally. Most people can't limit themselves, though, and spend a lot of time and money and treat it as a hobby. I haven't known many people like that with high IQs. Besides, I'm waiting for Sum Yung Guy's reply anyway.

Oh yea, and the "Einstein Moments," those times that you have a feeling of elevated intelligence when using a mind altering drug, that doesn't account for a high IQ.

Well, I don't think everyone of us smokes 10 bowls a day everyday 365 days out of the year....

I would say if you smoke weed more than 3 times a week you have a very real problem. If you smoke weed every weekend, you're addicted, but you're not letting it affect your job perhaps, and that's good. If you smoke weed maybe once or twice a month with friends(not in your room by yourself) then I don't really have a problem with you, just keep it to yourself, and don't come to me trying to explain your philosophy of how the raisins in Raisin Bran cereal are the key to life.

Most of you probably don't realize it because you probably don't smoke weed alone, but if you've ever been around someone who is high when you are not, it's very similar to being around someone who is drunk when you are not. Thay think they've come to realize everything about life in the last hour they have been high.

Dude, seriously, I'm personally against smoking for myself, but smoking marijuana does not make you stupid in any way any more than alcohol does. Some of the smartest people I know actually do smoke quite a bit -- staright A students -- and not just straight A because they work hard, these kids are actually fucking geniuses. There's plenty of decent kids that smoke quite a bit if you'll just open your eyes.

It's obviously not controlled tightly for a reason? True. Controlling it tighter would require a lot of resources and manpower. The fact that if you're caught with pot you go to jail is pretty fucking tight in my opinion.

S2 AM, you're generally a pretty smart guy. I don't know why you would make such an asinine insinuation that people who smoke pot are automatically going to have blue collar jobs, or that they are in some way inferior to those who do not smoke pot.

I don't even want to get on the addiction comment, it's been shown many times over that there is no addiction issues with marijuana.

Mjordan, my favorite person with which to debate things :) . Very punctual as usual. I don't remember any of the stoners with whom I went to school ever achieving a 4.0 GPA. If they are geniuses, then I believe they would just be throwing thatI went to a large school, so maybe there was someone I didn't know. I'm glad to see you aren't an advocate yourself, that's promising and also a relief.

I realize the punishment for being caught is stiff, but I think you only go to jail if you are caught with a certain amount, which is considered to be dealing. No doubt one of these stoners will correct me with that amount to the ounce. I also realize that controlling it would cause too much a strain on the government, which is already hurting. I've actually seen a special on TV that said people were allowed by the government to smuggle mairjuana over the border from Mexico. Who knows if that's true, it falls right in there with the government dealing with aliens to control the minds of people, or what have you.

Anyhow, I took the liberty of finding this online. For those of you who believe that marijuana is not a Neurotoxin, read on. You may be correct, but I think you would actually be happier with the hypothesis that it's a Neurotoxin.

There is evidence that individuals who start to smoke marijuana at an early age—while the brain is still developing—show deficits in cognition which are not seen in individuals who begin use of the drug when they are older. The reasons for this difference are unclear.

Scientists from the Harvard Medical School and from the intramural research program of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) found lasting cognitive deficits in those who started to smoke marijuana before age 17. The researchers analyzed neuropsychological test results from 122 long-term heavy users of marijuana and 87 subjects who had used marijuana only a few times (control subjects). Sixty-nine of the 122 users started using marijuana at age 17 or before. The subjects were between the ages of 30 and 55 at the time of the study, and all had refrained from any drug use 28 days prior to testing.

Individuals who started using marijuana at age 17 or younger performed significantly worse on the tests assessing verbal functions such as verbal IQ and memory of word lists than did those who started using marijuana later in life or who had used the drug sparingly. There were virtually no differences in test results among the individuals who started marijuana use after age 17 and the control subjects.
The investigators suggest three possible hypotheses that might explain these differences. One possibility is that early-onset smokers had lower innate cognitive skills before they ever started smoking marijuana. A second possibility is poor learning of certain cognitive skills by young users of marijuana who neglect school and academic pursuits. The third and most ominous possibility is that marijuana itself has a neurotoxic effect on the developing brain. According to the authors, further research will be required to determine the relative contributions of these three factors.

That's just fine, I agree with that study. Doesn't prove that smokers are idiots however.

Furthermore I'll step up and be the 'stoner' that clears up the charges thing for you.

It varies by state, those that have decriminalized marijuana for medicinal uses have also a higher ammount to warrant jail time, for example North Carolina is 42.5 grams (ounce and a half) to warrant jail time, but the local governments can be much lower, like just a few grams.

Virginia (my commonwealth) has a pretty low tolerance, any ammount can put you in jail.

If you're interested in learning the facts I would suggest reading that. There's a bibliography and everything. It's fact.

You are right, in younger people it does have negative effects on the brain. In adults, it does not.

You've never been around someone else who is high(while you are not) and been extremely annoyed?

I've fallen head over heels for anti marijuana propaganda? That's funny, I really haven't seen much of that in my life. Most people, like those who post in this forum, smoke marijuana, so "joining the crowd" as you would say of anti-marijuana people wouldn't be falling head over heels, and it wouldn't be falling to peer pressure. Unlike you, I am less affected by peer pressure.

I also noticed your amateur attempt at psychology,
Untill now you've had some pretty entertaining and informative posts, this thread puts you kinda .. "out there" bro.didn't appreciate it much.

Just to comment, I don't think it's addicting myself, at least not as nicotine or alcohol is, but the high you get is possibly addicting, especially to those who haven't anything better to do with their time.

Thats why I love mendo county usa ;) its where I lived before the Army.

In response to California's Proposition 215, which decriminalized marijuana for medical use in 1996, county law enforcement officials have set up a registration program for patients and their growers. And last year local Mendocino voters approved Measure G, a symbolic call to legalize "personal medical or recreational use."

It's no surprise that this would happen here. Mendocino is at the southern tip of California's famed "Emerald Triangle," where for decades marijuana cultivation has been a cottage industry in the area's rugged gullies and canyons. But lately even local politicians and police seem to have made their peace with the drug. "We deal with it fine," says Mendocino District Attorney Norm Vroman. "It's the rest of the country that's all screwed up."
Theres alot more to read.

Heh, figures.

Adrenachrome, the reason I would think you are one to fall to peer pressure is that people who smoke marijuana usually don't independently find a dealer and buy it. They were introduced to it by their friends, siblings, or in some sad cases, their parents.

I'm sure I don't have to explain the whole theory behind what peer pressure is and such do I? I thought you could have deduced that yourself, I hope my explanation/insight has helped.

Personally I don't do any drugs such as tobacco, marijuana, acid, ect. I just never found the need to. I do however see points in taking hallucinogens every once in a while (2 times a year) based on what they do for you, and how they break everything down to a very simple level. Anyway, I am not once bit opposed to growing industrial hemp as there are many products that could be made better and more environmentally safe by using hemp instead of some of the other materials. As for the crystals in the plant, who knows what to do with them. I'm not to sure about the medicinal uses but couldn't they use them for that? Or is that something different all together?

EDIT: Also the comment about pot heads being idiots or however you worded it is completely inappropriate. Just because their gpa wasn't higher than 4.0 means nothing. That isn't an accurate display of one's intelligence when you factor in how in most schools homework is a huge chunk of the grade. That might not be the case for your school but I know alot of very intelligent people who didn't get honor roll or high grades just because they didn't feel like doing the homework. That is a different kind of stupid all together though ;)

Well, speaking from someone who lives in a country where weed is legal I can say this. I know lots of people, people who are respected and make €100000+ a year that ocassionally smoke some weed. It's no big deal, IMO alcohol is alot worse than weed. Especially with kids these days, alcohol causes more problems than weed ever will.

Just because it's legal, doesnt mean everyone will freak out and start smoking 24/7. :wierd: I'm all for legalizing soft-drugs, everywhere.

Well, as I said I have no problem with occasional smokers as long as they don't come and bother me with their theory about how sheep are evil animals that are trying to take over our minds as we sleep. If they smoke occasionally, I sort of see that as just an occasional stress reliever, or whatever other reason they would smoke marijuana for.

Actually I was one of those people that never did homework. At some point, however, one must draw a line. I didn't like doing schoolwork anywhere outside of school, so I usually took advantage of classtime, or even while we were studying the current lesson, to do that homework. Homework, by the way, is given for a reason. I don't care how genius you are, if you haven't read Chapter 10, you don't know what's in Chapter 10. I usually just paid attention or what not and got information I needed without having to read(unless it was English or History) then you have to read. Again, I don't care if you're Einstein's reincarnation, you don't know what happened in 1450 unless you read or are told about it. In Math, homework is given so one can practice the types of problems, and if you haven't noticed yet, the problems increase in difficulty in direct relation to the number of the problem.

Anyways, just to set everything straight, in case you aren't a good reader, I'll put it in simple terms here. The people I was attacking are those who smoke marijuana on a regular basis. The people who go home and smoke marijuana every day. Usually these are the same halfwit jackasses who party all high school, and do other drugs to include acid, alcohol, etc... The people who basically throw away their life on drugs. The people and spend time doing drugs that could be spending time improving themselves physically or mentally. Those are the people I was attacking.

Pr0xy, since when have you been Crim?

It's no big deal, IMO alcohol is alot worse than weed. Especially with kids these days, alcohol causes more problems than weed ever will.

Over here alcohol deaths have rise by 20% in the last 20 years. There are more and more teenagers becoming alcoholics, the majority of which are actually girls. It's got to such a point that people know if you're British when you go on holiday because of the way you get absolutely smashed and then stagger around the resort shouting and singing at th top of your voice. It's embarassing. And unfortunately, it's starting to influence the locals. You now get Spanish kids, Italian kids etc. mimicking the British holiday makers and getting drunk out of their skulls...yet they never manage to replicate the "every Friday night go out, party, get drunk to the edge of death, go home, sleep with your head in the toilet, wake up with a horrible hangover, work it off, and do it again the next Friday" attitude.

As for smoking, we haven't got that big a problem with it over here. I know loads of people who smoke cigarettes (half my form does it... :() which is one thing I hate. I really don't like being around someone who is smoking or smells like it. Yet there are few people I know who smoke drugs.

Don't ask me what sort of relevance this has to the thread...I honestly don't know... :p

That's sort of true. But I know people who used to smoke everyday and still graduated highschool with ease. There are people who can function just fine while smoking everyday.

That's why I believe that the people you speak of, the ones wasting their lifes on drugs. I think it's not so much caused by the drugs, but much more their attitude towards life. I believe the excessive use of drugs is more a consequence from their attitude, rather than a cause. I think that even if drugs didnt excist, they would still find other ways to throw away their lifes.

Fair enough, you believe in the "early-onset smokers had lower innate cognitive skills before they ever started smoking marijuana" theory. Which more or less states that drugs aren't bad, people are. I believe that, too, but not in all cases. I don't know if marijuana is a Neurotoxin or not, but I prefer not take my chances, when I'm just fine not smoking it anyhow.

Alright, bucko, listen up. 100% stoner here and not ashamed one damn bit. I graduated highschool 25th in my class out of 300. I smoked weed almost every day my senior year and I managed to keep my grades up. I also have a job and I work very hard and often to keep the moolah flowing. I have shit in my life prioritized.

Most of you probably don't realize it because you probably don't smoke weed alone, but if you've ever been around someone who is high when you are not, it's very similar to being around someone who is drunk when you are not. Thay think they've come to realize everything about life in the last hour they have been high.

No, this is not true. Drunk people and high/stoned people do not act the same. A drunk person cannot make out who is who, cannot keep his/her own balance, has a very difficult time speaking (loud, slurred words), CANNOT DRIVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES and is more then likely going to throw up. A stoned person will sit on a couch and laugh at the drunk people. You need to stop generalizing people who smoke. A stoned person can drive, although I'll admit we tend to go slower. Weed and alcohol are two very different substances and really should not be compared.

You've obviously been hanging out with some new smokers or people that smoke in moderation. People that have been smoking for years (aka stoners) are very laid-back and do not "think we've realized everything when high." I was like the way you're describing when I was a new smoker and I got blitzed every time I took a hit; it's much different now.

You need a grinder (a device that breaks up your weed so you don't have to) that has a keef collector on bottom. Keef is what those crystals are more commonly called. I'm pretty sure there is no medicinal use in keef, but who could ever know?

And yes, Lenny, if you smoke that stuff you'll be floating in the clouds feelin pretty relaxed.

Sum Yung Guy, you seem to think just because I never smoke marijuana that I was never around people that did. I've been around people in the ARMY that were high, and seasoned smokers, by the way. I lived in the boonies as a child, so I guess I don't have to explain to you that half of my family smokes marijuana. When I moved to the city, I was around my sister and all her friends. On top of that I lived in an apartment complex where practially ever poor person in the city lived. I saw enough of how potheads lived and saw enough people high during my life, to know I didn't want to smoke marijuana.

Just because you haven't shot yourself in the face with a shotgun doesn't mean you can't argue your friend away from the barrel as he's trying to commit suicide.

Just to comment on Thanatos here. You graduated 25/300, huh? I actually attended a much smaller school before I moved to the cities. Seeing as I went to five different schools throughout my life, I think I can safely say that I found smaller schools to usually have a much easier curriculum(usually less funding) with much less people competing for that valedictorian.

Oh ya, and alcohol is a major depressent, on the other hand marijuana is a both a light depressant and a psychoactive hallucinogen. I never said they were exactly the same thing, and that one would incur the same results from both of them. What I did say is that people who do either/or are annoying to be around when you are completely sober. That's from my experience.

Seeing as I went to five different schools throughout my life, I think I can safely say that I found smaller schools to usually have a much easier curriculum(usually less funding) with much less people competing for that valedictorian.

I'm not saying 25/300 is the ultimate best, but it's pretty good. I graduated in front of tons of people who didn't smoke weed.

What I did say is that people who do either/or are annoying to be around when you are completely sober. That's from my experience.

Well, my advice to you is to chill out, heh. Don't get annoyed with these people. Try and actually listen to what they're talking about and it's fuckin hilarious. Personally, one of funniest things I've found is to be stoned around a bunch of drunk people. It's so damn funny.

Wha?

So you've gone from Private First Class to SPC?

Why all the acronyms? Why?!
Stands for Specialist. Corporal is after it. Try not to get left behind again Lenny.

S2: You annoy me at times... Does that mean that you smoke? Heck, we are all annoying to someone else. That doesn't mean anything. I have friends who smoke and some are annoying, others arent. That's just how they personally behave and carry themselves.

Ya you can always tell the people who would have looked it up online to those who actually know the system. Corporal is practically a dead rank really.

I guess I have nothing else to say, everyone's left with their own opinions on the matter.

Oh Noob Penny Bags? That's original. Actually, I didn't think anyone still used that term created by egotistical adolescents while playing their favorite map of Counter-Strike, talking trash as they use a GUI hack utility they downloaded from CSwarez.com and bragging about it on the phone to their Pokemon playing friends from school while their mommy does their laundry and cooks them dinner. I can't help to think this should be in the flame forum, but shut up for everyone's sake Penny Bags, you halfwitted moron.

I'm not the best with these Army acronyms. I wonder if there's a chart anywhere with them all on...a little tree type thingy.

Oh, Google! Come to Lenny little Googley woogley.

I know you guys are in the Army, but how is he (or you) defending our freedom?

From their base in Germany they're keeping tabs on the French opressors. Without these guys the French would break the bonds keeping them in France and try and invade England, and, if ever they won (which is highly impossible...we've always pasted them), try and take over the world from their new base in Westminster!

It's a good thing they're there to stop those arrogant bastards in their tracks. :)

Iraq was not a threat to my freedom.

But that's another opinionated arguement all together...

I love you guys, I totally support our troops and it really hits home whenever we get word of another soldier lost, (lots of them are based here in Hampton Roads), but I don't think we should still be in Iraq..

Iraq was not a threat to my freedom.

Not a direct threat, no. However, anyone will admit it was a problem that would have needed dealt with sooner or later. Do you honestly think they would solve their problems themselves? Not hardly. In fact, It's Specialist Smith's hypothesis right here and now, that exactly five years after the last soldier leaves the ground and Iraq is considered stable, civil war will again erupt and some dictator will step up followed by individuals who know no better. As sorry as it is, you can't say they're stupid, you'd act the same way if you had been born into that situation.

Anyways, I know that if I were a civilian, I'd feel a lot safer knowing that we are constantly on terrorists' backs the way we are now, instead of letting them plot freely in a corrupt and financially supporting country such as Iraq or Afghanistan

Oh yea and It's steering off topic that most often makes talking fun. How long have you sit and talked to your friends about the same thing for hours on end? I doubt too very often unless you're playing a game. When one topic leads to another it makes conversation interesting. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle. ;)

Lol I thought I should have put a smiley face to let everyone know it was meant jokingly. That bitch probably has an IQ of 60 and the military was her only option.

Just so you know, I think that you in particular are a pussy, though.
