Hey i am stopping by inbetween vacations and i have a question. I have a Laptop and i just bought two blue tooth usb adapters so that i can hook up to a computer on an improvised network because where i am going next has a computer and i was wondering if anyone knows of a program that basically will allow me to control the desktop of the other computer and that allows me to see the desktop i mean like that would all me total control over the system so i can transfer files to the other computer. If at all possible i would like free ware. Side note the desktop has either windows 95 or 98. If not 98 than i can install it with a cd i have. from one of my old computers.

For remote control, Anyplace Control has a free 30-day trial:

There's also a 15 day trial on EMCO Remote Desktop Professional, which is supposed to be much more complicated but has many more features. This is the overkill option:

As to filesharing between systems, you could always just enable Windows file sharing. If this is the only real reason you want to access the desktop computer (and you don't really NEED direct control over it) this is the easiest thing to do. Make sure the computers are on the same subnet/workgroup as usual.

There's a free one called LogMeIn...I don't know if it will be any help:

System Requirements
» Windows 98, 2000, XP, or Server 2003
» Internet connection (cable, ISDN, DSL or better)

https://secure.logmein.com/go.asp?page=home_free_pro

If you like it you can upgrade it to LogMeIn Pro.

Would VNC not work in this case?

Probably.

To be honest, I haven't the faintest idea.

what is VNC? I thought that windows had a built in remote access program that allowed people to connect to a computer to let a tech support person log into a computer. I was looking for a little more than file sharing because i have some utilities that i am trying to learn to use and i figured this would be a good chance to try them out. Some of them are PStools from www.sysinternals.com, John the ripper, and cain and abel are a few of them. I know i dont really need remote access to use them i just need some kind of desktop display because there is not a monitor hooked up to the computer because it is an old machine.
