Well, tell me this isn't enough to piss someone off:
We'll start with my car blowing a spark plug a week or so ago. I hadn't had time to really fix the problem until recently, and Abby and I had to share her car until I could get it fixed. This is just after fixing her Throttle, by the way...
At any rate, the Saturday I'm planning on fixing this, I am about to get off work to go out and fix my car, when a coworker calls in sick. I then have to work a split shift to help cover it (I opened that morning, and had to close that night). So, I get a few hours to work on my car in the parking lot at work (as that's where it ended up after blowing the plug) before I had to work again.
Okay, I appear to get it fixed and head home, get Abby, and drive back to get my car. The plug blows yet again on the way home, forcing us to leave it on the side of the highway until I can get something done with it.
Sunday rolls around, and the same coworker is still sick, meaning I gotta work all day yet again. That night, I attempt to fix my car again, and after a few trips to the store for things I need, I finally get it taken care of.
Monday, I get a call from Abby about half an hour before I drive into work. Her car SHUT OFF while driving down the freeway, and won't start again, meaning I have to go get her from the side of the interstate. I do so, and have her drop me off at work, as she needs a car.
Tuesday rolls around, we got her car towed, she needs a new wiring harness. After she takes my car to the store, my car's radiator has decided to fall apart. Where my upper radiator hose connects to my radiator is plastic, and has pretty much corroded down to nothing. I can't just replace that plastic area, the whole thing needs replaced.
So, I'm having a shitty time. How is everyone else?

Wow, that really sucks. Talk about bad luck. Hopefully next weekend/week is full of fun, laughter, and sex to make up for this shitty one you just had.

i'd be on the edge or pushing my car off a cliff more than likely. That'd make for a hell of a video tape.

Not everyone can grab a new car or two whenever they need.
I hear you all the way Volls, Im actually just waiting for my car to take the big dive. Im very suprised and gratefull it has lasted this long. Luckily I dont live too far from work and I dont have to take any highways. Other than being drugged and almost being taken advantage of, Im not doing to bad.

1989 Mazda 323
It's actually not had too many large problems, but they're all coming at once now.
I can't just pick up a new car, as I can't afford it. If I do, I definitely won't be able to go to college for some time, unless I were to move back in with my parents. I can't move in with Mom, as her and my stepfather are still working on getting their own place as they live with a friend, and my father lives some distance away (and he and Abby don't get along very well).
So, I'm stuck at the moment. When I can afford a new vehicle, I'm likely to get a motorcycle.

What kind of motorcycle would you buy?
My last two weeks or so have been pretty fucking disgusting, getting better now because I'm gotten my mind on track.

Probably go more for a Cruiser. They're easier to learn on, anyways.

Hmmm. I would actually say depending on the style of cruiser they are harder. Ive been riding since I was 17 and I learned on a crotch rocket although it had lost alot of its rocketyness, more like a crotch cruiser. But ya Im getting a bike asap after my car dies. Fucking gas is getting out of control too.

Don't you have to start on scooters over there??
Here we got somke stupid rule that you've got to have ridden a scooter for a few years to be able to progress to a low-power bike, then that for moreyears till you can ride a more powerful bike and so on...it's stupid...and then we've got a test for automatic cras...and one for manuals...not as stupid but very time consuming...

WTF?? No, you get your lisensce/permit, and you can ride whatever kind of bike you want.

We are a nanny state so...
It is now/soon to be (don't know which) the law for dogs to wear seatbelts when travelling in a car.
It is law that you cannot kill slugs...
----------
Taken from the DSA website: Once you pass your standard motorcycle test you are restricted to machines of 25 kW (33 bhp) with a power to weight ratio of 0.16 kW/kg for two years.

Haha in the US you can get a full-blown crotch rocket the day you get your permit. The only restriction is you can't carry a passenger right away. I think it's a 6 month wait or something like that.

So, how was the rest of the week Vol??

Well, it's been a bit rough.
Just finished installing my new radiator an hour ago, seems to be fine. The new radiator is all metal, and has a lifetime warranty, so that shouldn't be giving me any more problems.
We'll see what breaks next, heh.

You can either get a motorcycle or buy a decent car from the impound for around $500.
Kaneda
2005-05-23, 12:12 PM
You mean at a police auction thing? Or you can just stroll on down to the impound and they sell cars and motorcycles?
RoboticSilence
2005-05-23, 12:26 PM
A police auction, junkyard, the impound sells cars that have been there a while.
Did you get a car like that?
Hell if you can't find a bike you could go with an old hatchback honda for about 500. It will get you from point A to point B

My back speakers (6x9 3-way Audiobahns), my CDs...
Whoever it was must've gotten scared off, as one of my front speakers was half-removed and my stereo hanging by the wires with a few cut. My back seat is now partially ripped open as well.
My door was wide open with my tools on top of my car this morning.
God damn, I hope June goes better than May has. If not, I may go jump off a building or some shit. :(

Volls, this is why I've sworn off cars. Public transit and a bike is the way to go. You've already got the girlfriend, so who are you trying to impress? Buy a good BMX (unless you're one of them "mountain bike" queers), become familiar with the city bus/train system and watch your insurance/repair/fuel issues float effortlessly out the window.

I'm a mountain bike queer... :( Although I got other bikes too, I like my mountain bike best.
I dont know how public transportation is in the US, but here it's a nightmare. Busses and trains are late alot, and alot of the times when they do get on time, they're loaded. Especially now in the summer this is horrible, since everyone is sweating and all that.

Problem is Raz, it would take me about 3 hours or so to get to my workplace.
Believe me, I'm not impressing ANYONE with my car, working or not.

Take the bus, bro. I'm not sure what the system is like where you live, but I know it's pretty decent in Seattle, and the train system in Salt Lake is great.
Lenny

The same is true over here...
Buses are always late, trains are either late, don't turn up or are cancelled and taxis are too expensive...when the trains don't turn up or are cancelled then they have a bus srvice instead...crazy...
How come America has such a good public transport system?? I always think of you lot as driving your own car rather than using the Bus...and for such a big country, I'm surprised you've got the money...look how small we are and look at our public transport, and the roads around where I live are terrible!!
Raziel

You live in England, coprrect? Then the difference between mass-transit systems in both countries would be the fact that Britain's train/bus systems are equivalent to five or six of the individual state and city systems in our country. For all I know, LA's bus system could be worse than yours, but I'd bet money that Salt Lake's train system is more reliable than anything you can find in England.

Then the other two options are to ride a bike or grab the train, if one is available. Otherwise, you could always force premature evolution and sprout wings.

Bike is illegal to ride on the freeway (meaning it'd still take 3 hours + me getting all sweaty anyway) and Train = nonexistant...
This is Southwest California we're talking.
If you could help graft some wings for me, that'd be sweet as hell.
