The game is live and I have been seeing nothing but 9+ rated reviews for it. Anyone here playing it as of now? WoW has been pissing me off as of late(again) and I may have to pick this game up. Anyone? Bueler?

Yea I think I will buy it tomorrow as well. Wait to pick a server though. My friend should also be getting it this weekend.

Edit: NM, I just read the FAQ
Finally, unlike existing MMOs, all characters in Guild Wars inhabit the same virtual world -- they are not divided onto different servers or shards -- so players can always team up with or compete against any other player in the world.

BE AWARE THOUGH! It is only MMRPG in towns.......once you leave town an instance is created just for you :( this means is pretty much like single player...you cant just find some1 and PK them =(

It does sound bad. Can you form a party so you can walk around and kill monsters with other people?

Yea of course. The instancing prevents a shitload of lag as well. The enviroment is lush and HUGE. the spells are interesting. The GFX are breathtaking. And im only level 4 so far. And trust me, like the name implies PVP is the most important part of the game. Also instanced, two opposing teams will enter an instance and will have to do things like, capture the flag, defend a castle, etc etc. Trust me, this game is definetly worth picking up.

S'gay that you have to PAY to unlock more land in the game.

Thats why there is no monthly fee. They're fucking you over either way.

How is he being a blizzard fanboy? He didn't even mention them or their games.

I'd have to say from reading this thread that the game sounds pretty stupid as well.

The game is like 2 parts, quests and pvp. The quests you can do in parties of 4 and I think in some quests more. You are being encouraged to form parties, altough this is not necessary since you can also "hire" npc character to take along with you while doing a quest. They're not bad and it allows you to just do a quick quest if you dont feel like playing with others or just dont want to spend time forming a good party.

Then there's also the pvp part which is awesome. You play in teams of 8 and get to play different types of pvp combat. For instance in one game you get a prince and priest npc that you must protect, and kill from the opposing teams. In other games its like capture the flag. Teamplay is a big factor in this game.

I've played in all the world events and have read alot of things about the game. I havent bought it yet because right now I dont really feel like playing any games at all. So I'm just going to buy it once I feel like playing it.

Any of you people have a guild yet?

I joined a guild of about 30 some people. Mostly higher level. There nice though and hook it up with some free shit. Prophets of The Moon [PoTM]. When you join a guild you instantly get a kickass cape with your guilds custom emblem on it. Think what you want of the game but you really shouldn't knock until you have either played it or seen it played. I'm having a blast playing it right now and haven't played WoW for almost a week.

Not all guilds have cape though... well, at least some don't because it takes 2 plat to design a cape. (It's nothing at high level)

Now you can store gold in vault, which should be good news to everyone.

The party size increases to 6, and later 8 when you go further into the game.

You can solo (without henchmen) in some areas actually, the entire Pre-Searing, the first part of Post-Searing (as long as you don't take more than 1 mob of Charr), Kryta Gate, Elona... and some others.

The game starts to get difficult once you hit Yak's, (or Lion Arch), and you will start to want real people in your party. In later missions such as Santum Cay, Augury Rock's, Thunderend, etc, it is almost impossible to do with just henchmen. (Even though it is actually easier to do Elona Reach with henchies, because most of the players are idiots)

I really like the character customization and balance in the game. You can get so many cool looking armor/weapons (along with all the dyes, and dye mixing), and the game is far from done when you hit level 20. You can basically pick any profession with another profession and be efficient once you've learned the right skills.
