View Full Version : Investing in people, or investing in money?

It seems like lately I've been against helping people out when they need it. I'm against donations; I almost feel like I have a hatred for humanity. But, then, I was listening to some music, and it started me thinking. I had a chat with my dad, and it made me think more. So, the question is basically pretty simple.
Is it more important/better for you to invest in money, or scheme ways to get as much money as you can, even if it means overlooking people, or even hurting people, or should you try to help people instead, even if it means a financial hit? Is it more important to invest in people, or to invest in money?
It's more important to invest in
Haha! Guess what. There is no right answer, because it depends on who you are.

Help people who deserve the help. Generally, helping people makes them weak.

Okay, KREIA. Or should I just call you SITH LORD.

What the fuck is KREIA?
When you help people they tend to expect you to do it so they don't change. For example, a bum on the street asking for money, you give him money and he keeps on asking for money. The next day he will be there, and he will stay there (or on another street at least.) If you really want to help him, help him get a job, get him a nice set of clothes to go to an interview with, something like that.
Whoever said that old phrase "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime" or however it goes was pretty smart.

KREIA is the annoying bitch in KOTOR 2. She is a sith... Kinda. Anyway.
Why help people? Most people are ungrateful and don't deserve the help. However, when you do help them. They think it is expected of you. Face it. Most people are out for themselves. Choose your own path.

Invest in money because it can get you weed. J/K
Honestly, I'd invest in people. I believe in a karma or eye-for-an-eye deal. What goes around comes around. If you fuck people over you're likely to get fucked.

Helping someone could end up fucking them over, so your theory is flawed.

"Build a man a fire and he'll be warm for the rest of the day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life."

You could make the money and then donate it...some could even go to those you overlooked etc. to be able to make the money in the first place.

I help those who help themselves enough to not need my help.

I thought Kreia was pretty cool.
It doesnt have to be one way or the other though. There will always be people in need of help, you just cant help everyone. 90% of the time people give to charity just because it makes them feel a better person instead of actually seriously caring what the money is used for.
Invest in the money. Without money you wont be able to give anything at all.
