the time period is basically 1763-1920.... i have to be able to make an arguement... so soemone please give me a thesis that I can prove and maybe how i can do it. It CAN NOT be military oriented.

Just disprove that thesis example... during the Industrial Revolution (early 19th century) there were tons of industrialists who got rich through innovation... Henry Ford, for example.

Or you could do like, slavery (and later the Civil War) stems from the fact that the American colonists were a bunch of overfed snobs who were too lazy to support their own country so they brought in millions of Africans.

It's true.. they had the highest quality of life before and after the Revolution.

Well, there are tons of people doing the industrial revolution... and guys like John D. Rockefeller... It wouldn't be his thesis, it'd be different... much more different than alot of people's thesises.

Well, it really depends on how you describe ruthlessness. In my eyes, most of them were pretty ruthless, even Ford. After his introduction of the assembly line, he was hiring and firing people at an astonishing rate. I can't remember the exact numbers, but I could look them up for you. Other's used tactics that were considered ruthless as well, such as trusts and other things. If I were going to use that thesis, I would just try to prove it.

I don't know what to do, I'm just pulling a few straws here.

One, how about trying to prove/disprove Fredrick Jackson Turner's thesis on the frontier.

Two, we all know that in the 1860s-1880s the Klan used scare tactics to discourage black people from voting, and to just keep them down, basically. What made the situation so bad for the southern white folks that they had to resort to violence. Was it necessary, or not? Formulate a thesis, and prove/disprove. I don't know much about which way you would go, since I guess this is more of an opinion.

1763 huh? How about disproving the "Dunning School" arguement that white Northerners that came to the South during reconstruction were all Carpetbaggers who came with their black pawns to loot, pillage, and exploit the decent, good, and noble white southerners.

Or you could do something on Southern Violence and Lynching in the country during that time period. Infinite information on that. Something like 4,700+ known lynchings between Presidential Reconstruction and 1968. And this isn't just in the South. This happened in places like Ohio and Illinois as well. Ida Wells was a black investigative reporter that worked in the 1870-90s by taking information from Southern newspapes. During Democratic rule, white supremacy ran rampant. Southern newspaper would actually advertise lynchings, and sometimes thousands of spectators would come. People would take pictures and send postcards of the hanging burned and contorted bodies, usually with them standing next to it with a cute caption like "We had a barbeque last night." In Georgia, an ad was run in newspapers for a train ride to an upcoming lynching of a black man, and box lunches would be provided. During lynchings, it was not uncommon for churches and schools to close for people to attend. When they dismembered the victim before killing them, they usually handed out fingers/eyes/genitals as party favors. And it goes on and on and on.

Affirmative action, at face value, seems like it would promote equality, but in practice it doesn't. Affirmative action is really nothing more that a glorified quota system that scares employers into hiring Negros and other races that they wouldn't otherwise hire. There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today. Even discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate 'diversity.'

If we don't get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream.
