I think its still going, but there is a lack of communication. People need to discuss thier ideas and what they got, but it just seems like people want to keep everything a secret from each other. We are all in this together, and we need to atleast email each other ideas and whatever else we can come up with. The world's greatest games weren't made because each team member sat in thier own little cubicle and devised their own portion and assumed everyone elses ideas were giong to fit with his/hers. We need order, and cooperation. I think this can still work, but we gotta work with it a little.

By the way, i like your sig, Aurvian.

It's still there...somewhere. Hopefully.

Anyway, I had an idea for a little...cutscene thingy at the start of the game, but it would only fit if say, the main character lost his/her memory, or wakes up on a strange beach somewhere or things like that.

If it is possible to create, then we just need to wait for the "YES" before adding it to the game.

I'm also building upon that beginning cutscene, slowly typing out a little story to go with it. EXpect it to be finished by...next Xmas! Lol. Nah, sometime soon. I got a lot of time on my hands, so I should be able to finish it before...Easter. Lol.

v_v im sorry ive been maturbating in my cubicle .... lol jking ive been playin sc and its so addictive when you have friends who play it .... But does everyone have AIM. and if they cant get AIM download zango so we can all go in a chatroom at specific times also we have to find out everyones time zones so the times wont get mixed up.....( O i was late cause im three hours behind the others .... I live in japan so i was sleepin im sorry.... ) anyhow we need everyones time zones and we also need to think of a client we can all chat on with real time v_v if noone has AIM we bust out starcraft or some blizzard game we can all meet in a channel and discuss.... zelarons good to but its I can leave when ever I want and enter the same

Well after a long time of not being on, I am back. I have several new updates on the game(Syugen '1,' not 3). I decided we should relive the beautiful fantasy that was this epic saga... of fun... But anyway.

Characters from the first game-

Party members(In order from who you most see; first is main char.):

Story-

Jason(suprisingly, Lenny) wakes up on a beach. Wondering about who he is and not knowing who(Thanks Lenny for the amnesia thing *rubs head* oww.) He walks through the tropical forest and comes upon the village of (?)
where he meets Emilia. Yadayada, blahblahblah, mystic quest, save world, your usual RPG. ANY IDEAS ARE HELPFUL, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT ON THE TEAM.

Misc-

Many minigames.

Music especially made for the game(any composers? Anvil Studio is a good midi making program. Find it a RPGWolfpack.com)

Detailed environments* PLUS shadows if we use RMXP. I know where to find it virus-free and you don't have to pay lots 'o' money fo' it. But I can't say where. The blueman is around...o_O

Heart-ripping(oww) stories with tearjerking or hairpulling moments... or both.

And that is all I can think of.

Oh yeah. Tyran, since you are a programmer, will most of the coding be done on your comp, and/or others pc('s)?

I've had some more ideas for the beginning cutscene... :D

It is quite like the idea of walking through the rainforest to a village, except there is no rainforest... :confused:

Here it is so far, with the little boat thing...

After the current...events, the man is found outside the town by the night guards. They bring him in, and for the next week or so he is tended by a woman, who will later join his party etc. The basic storyline is they go travelling through the lands, looking for something or other. Whilst they are travelling, the party (more will be added later) finds an oracle of sorts, or something similar that offers to unlock the mans mind. He refuses. A couple of months or so later, the party run into the national army, who is at the time fighting their neighbours. They find the oracle again. His mind is unlocked blah blah blah, he turns out to be a weapon created for unimaginble destruction etc. You get the point.

When more is written, it will be updated...

I've had some more ideas for the beginning cutscene...

Continue to write so you can fuse you ideas with mine, but, over the past few weeks I have been getting my thoughts together with my friend who is our third writer, and we have gotten a lot of shit together.
Including,

-a script (movie form, but should work for a game, too.)
-custom programming (ex. a cinematic where Jason wakes up on the beach and see's Emilia standing above him. I need a talented anime artist to draw some parts for the cutscene. Preferably not draw by hand then scanned, but in computer drawn bmp or png so I can edit colors to atone for the scene. Wed-G <-- Director)
-computer drawn layouts for scene's (320X240 for correctness)
-a dictionary for Mésu-English (Excel or Word Format)
-and more still

Idea about Emilia. She could be the one nursing him in the town, and then the part of the great wizard magic gets in the cutscene etc.

I wanted to offer this to Lenny first, so anyone who is interested back off till I get an answer from him.

Would you be interested in writing a story the details the game. If I give you a script would it be easy to do?

I, as a writer, know how hard it is to come up with things, but if you wrote out a story that covers all the main parts of the game you can have the freedom to do write any new things you want. If you could do this, you won't have to write the script. Me and my friend can handle that(although he can't spell worth a shizznizzal.)

And it shouldn't be too hard...though I tend to lean heavily on description...or at least I have done in other things...so you and your friend may be get a little annoyed trying to convert it all back to script form...:p.

Since I am the animator, can I get some concept art at least so I can start the thing, or at least do the opening? I drew some quick sketches from the charset above, but I need them to be confirmed, or at least approved. I dunno how im gonna get them here, but ill try something. If I don't get any concept/definate images ill just post the sketches and tell me what you think. And one last major thing, since I AM the animator...how are the characters going to look? Manga/Anime style or Batman/Superman comic book style? If it is going to be Batman/Superman, then I can't be the animator, because I only do the anime style thing. Sorry, but that's my style. Also, I need to know the personalities of the characters. The personality defines the look and the motions and body language of the characters. So far what I have is:

Hero: (1st character in charset) usual hero attitude. ready to go against the world full of energy.

Girl: (2nd character in charset) thel shy, loves-the-hero-secretly-yet-obviously personality. I think she is the one that helps the hero in the intro.

Anti-hero Hero: (3rd character is charset) He is the person who looks like a villain, yet has the heart of gold, and always tries to hide under his bad-boy, hate-the-world attitude. He is the one who would progressively get mushy through out the game (start as a hard ass, giving everyone a hard time; by the end of the game, he would be all, "YEAH!! Let's do this, this planet needs to be saved and we're the only people who can do it!"

So, if anyone can give me any more information, that would really help. Thanks!

Sort of...but not really.

I'm a thinking of him as a character who keeps himself to himself. Full of hidden anger and dark secrets that come out in times of great...danger of sorts...take the scene where he goes psycho on the wolves in my little intro thingy. In the intro I imagine him as a tall figure...bulging muscles type thing...if you get my drift, the stereotypical body builders on the beaches, the tanned ones. I think of him as tall, dark and handsome in a rugged way. Shoulder length black hair...tangled...hardly looked after...I don't really know how else to describe him...maybe not as the 1st chara in the set for the intro...


Girl: (2nd character in charset) the shy, loves-the-hero-secretly-yet-obviously personality. I think she is the one that helps the hero in the intro.

Yep. Caring but when threatened, can turn nasty...

Again, yes. Thinks highly of himself...but is made fun of by the hero and literally trodden into the mud beneath the hero's boots...secretly likes the girl, but tries as hard as possible to keep it to himself...and is extremely good at doing so...never or rarely lets his guard down...


When I get time, I will try and write out full descriptions of the characters.

I'm also thinking of having more characters...just a little thought...

Don't take the above as the final word in the matter, as I'm not the one who makes the decisions, and the above are only really ideas...

Nice descriptions of the characters everybody!

You practically described each character perfectly.

Harris is the strong bad-ass(sort of like Auron. He actually doesn't like the girl, but good idea.)
Jason is the one with the hidden past(partly because of the amnesia.)
Emilia secretly likes Jason and tries to help him everyway she can. Especially in the intro/scene 1 after Emilia finds Jason she takes him back to her house. In scene 2, soldiers come in the middle of the night showing her a picture of Jason and ask if she had seen him. She says no and they leave. The next day she tells her mother and she throws a fit and wants him out. He has not yet recovered and Emilia trys to reason with her mom. I'll tell more later. I have to go.

Like I've said before any input is appreciated. That could be a good name because the soldiers that hunt Jason down, through-out the game, aren't sent from a good guy. And because Jason has amnesia, so do I. I have to write his story while I write the script.

One thing that is a problem for me is I don't have internet access at my house. I have to use my aunts computer to do anything. And to make things worse, my D: drive doesn't work so I can't take any of your things and burn it on a cd. BUT! Not to worry. In two weeks I will have a CD-RW so I can transfer all my current work to a zip file and put it up here. But, I don't know if Zelaron can handle large files until we get a website up. Speaking of which who is supposed to do that. I can't remember who.

Another thing.
I have composed Jason's theme song with two other versions. It's kewl.

Draco, I would like it to be anime style please. RPG's are a Japanese thing, mainly, and I would like to keep it to that style.

About replay value.
I want the game to be something that you could never get tired of. Maybe because of the story, or how the game plays. Mini-games are another way of increasing the playablility.
Also, with the thought of mini-games, what ideas does anyone have?

I thought about other games where you do simple things, like in Ara Fell(you can find it at GamingW.net) where you catch apples that a girl throws down.
Just simple things like that would be interesting.

Game Name!

Well after a breif consultment with the other writer of the game, Justin, who I will introduce to Zelaron later, I have decided to name the game(based on the language made for the game) Tales of Enilurâlor. At least I think that is how it is spelled. Again, like I said before I am not at my house to check how to spell it.

One problem with the RM2K3 font is that it doesn't include letters like é è ê ë
and others. Those are very important letters in Mésu, which is pronounced May-su because of the acute of the E. This give it a distinct pronounciation so it will not be said mee-suu. Which is a whole other word.

The word Enilurâlor really two words in english, meaning gods something. Again, again, like I said before I am not at my house to check what it means.

Oh well, I'll go home and write more now. Mésu was originally developed for a book which got all the way to chapter three, but was cancelled because I got bored of it. Lenny, I might send it to you just so you can read it. It, in my opinion is really good.

Will you stay on throughout the production of this project, and will you stay true to what you say you will do. So far everyone we have is a very vital person to the team. And without all of you BladeStar Productions isn't worth anything. Games like the Legion Saga series was made by one person. If one person could do so well... why can't a group do better?

I don't know if it helps, but I've kinda already got Jason's story planned out in my head...

Also about the army...one of the little scenes I've got playing in my head is Jason's mind being "awoken". He is taken by an oracle guy, they (the little quest group) meet earlier on, who is with the army fighting etc. Anywho, he takes Jason to his tent, and awakes his mind, which triggersoff Jason's "war machine" ability, causing him to wipe out the whole army camped there...the magic spreads over a 5 or so mile radius, nearly killing the rest of the hroup, who only escape it by goign underwater...anywho, I associate this scene with the end of the game, and the last thing is that the group goes back and finds Jason in a very very big crater left by his destrcutive magic, and they have to fight him, and maybe, I don't have a clue if it will be allowed or not, end up killing him...and the game ending in a cutscene where Jason finds control of his powers etc, and comes to his senses long enough for a tearjerking scene with Emilia crying over him, before finally dieing...

About writing, we have a new writer, instead of my friend. She is my cousin and she enjoys writing about blood and other killing activities... scary.

We (as in Wed-G and I) will take Lenny's approach to describe the main character. We want to make him as heroically evil as possible. We want him to be able to become the strongest character(in the end) possible.

Ive reviewed what you guys have said over the past days about the story creation and. You guys shouldnt apply your ideas to the story until you have enough ideas to potray the story effective enough. I'll start on some battlesets, cutscenes pics and stuff soon, since ive seen what the characters will look like i might change the colors of the clothes though.

Story So far:

He takes him to their house and she tends him till hes better. During this time she falls inlove with him. ....(future dont know) (how they meet Harris and new player is unknown)

Ive been thinkin about the story and I think that should happen after awhile like
(Jason is fighting in a battle for a seperate country then where his adventure will take place. )
After the battle the soldiers go back to the town and Jason goes home and goes strait to sleep. When he wakes up the next one he imediately gets an assignment. He has to go on a ship and sail to another town, to take them from the sea while some others will take them from the ground. While on sea a few days pass and he runs into an ambush. (Me and the animator show a cut scene where jason goes to help out and then it goes blank or somethin and he wakes up on beach) WHile on the beach he doesnt remeber any of the past events. He gets into a battle and then the monsters take somethin of his runs into the woods. from the woods he follows and then he gets jacked of most of his valuables that wasnt wiped away at sea, and is nearly killed. They leave him there and he is found the next day by Leone... Emalias lil brother. Leone takes him to his house and clothes him and his sister tends to his wounds. He wakes up and tries to move but emalia tells him he is wounded and tells him everything she knows between the time her brother found her and the time he has been there. A day passes and then the town is attacked , this is when he find out that the country is is being invaded by an evil guy with an army and a hunger for power. He is still wounded but he still goes out to fight for them Emilia tries to stop him but comes with him because she knows he wont listen. After the town is nearly half destroy but defended they return to emelias and go to sleep. THey wake up the next mourning and Emilia realizes her brother never came home. They go out to find him but hes already dead when they find him..

Wow, so many changes to the story, I kinda don't wanna throw in anymore ideas.

Okay I will:

He is apart of another army, but feels that the (highest ranking officer) is just attacking villages because it makes him feel powerful. He discovers this to be true, and tries to tell the rest of his squad/platoon. They, very loyal soldiers, think he (the main character) is trying to take over the army. The hero and a few friends decide to leave, but the general dude tries to kill them. There are 6 escapees, ony 4 make it to the ship, which they steal from the lower, weaker soldiers cleaning it. They leave the island/continent/city and just sail in whichever way the wind blows. After a few weeks, they get caught in a massive hurricane/typhoon storm and one of the escapees falls over board and drowns. The last three manage to survive the storm, but, encounter a large sea creature. The creature is defeated, with no casualties, but as it goes under, its undertow is too strong for the ship. The last thing the player sees is the ship go under, and the screen fades to black. When the hero awakens on the beach, he realizes he has massive gashes, and a piece of wood sticking out of his side. he can't find his fellow soldiers, so he decides to head inland. He gets to the outskirts of the city, and faints.

Then the Soldiers are searching for a criminal that has just broken out of prison, and they search pretty far. The criminal sees your body, and takes your clothes, weapons, armor, items and gold. He scampers away, and about 10 minutes later, the guards come across your stripped body, and see you are greatly injured. The girl's brother, a very caring soul even though he is a soldier, decides to take you in, regardless of your background. You are taken to his house, where the city healer has you under a restraint spell, and the soldiers pull the wood out of you. You wake up screaming, and try to get out of bed, but you are still too weak, and you fall over and slowly lose consiousness. The city healer heals you and puts bandages with a special ointment to cure the scars. After many days (about 8-14) you awaken, and meet your caretaker, the soldier's sister. The hero just stares at her, and then closes his eyes again. Then another week or so passes and you wake up, and don't remember who you are, actually you don't remember anything before now. The village takes you in, and you become a normal townsfolk person. 4 months pass, and you hear shouting outside your house. You go outside to see what happened, and you see a familiar emblem on a heavily-armored soldier, picking on a friend of yours. But, you aren't angry at the fact your friend is getting pushed around, your a enraged at the emblem, and you don't even know why. You grab the nearest sword and attack full force. (Insert battle). After the battle ends, your character continues to slash and stab and cut up the soldier. Your caretaker stops you, and, since you are covered in blood, she takes you to get cleaned up. There, she tells you of how her brother came across your body, and everything else they know about. You tell her you don't remember anything, but the emblem on that soldiers armor made you go berserk. After the bath, she takes you on a stroll of the beach, and you come across one of your fellow escapees. He is dead, but the armor is made from a very durable mineral, so you take it, even though it is very beat up. This information seems to be easy for you to notice, but your caretaker explains she has never seen the mineral, or armor design anywhere before.

I know one escapee wasn't accounted for, but that's because he was found and taken back to the place where you escaped from. He is the one that the new hero(female) would have the crush on. Although, this is just a thought, and no one cares about the animator, so just read and enjoy. :D

STOP THE PRESSES!!! URGENT DISCOVERY!!!! WE NEED TO DISCUSS THIS RIGHT NOW!!! Okay, not really, but at least I got your attention. What about the Box Art and Instruction Booklet layout? (for mass production purposes). We at least need a picture to represent our game on the innternet, not a screen shot. That would be so pimp. And I have noticed, that no one has given any alterations to my story, or said anything so I take it everyone agrees on the intro? Sorry it was long, just got carried away.

Flash Forward to Mid-Story:
Jason, Emilia, and (temporary party member) are searching the continent for scrolls/parchment/stone tablets or some other special artifact, when they come across your lost shipmate. He, unlike you, remembers everything (a little differently, because of the brain washing) and tries to kill you. Your party fights back (obviously) and starts to win. (shipmate) is amazed at your strength, and flees. Your team decides to chase him, and your temporary party member is the first to find him. (at this point game play changes to that of the temp. member) You fight against (shipmate) and lose. He kills you in a very evil and gory way, and leaves your body parts spread out across the floor. He laughs and flees again. (control goes back to your party) Then Jason and Emilia come across his mangled body, and you don't know what it is. Jason realizes it and jumps back, and starts to gag. Emilia, still in the dark about the object, looks at it. She leans over to get a closer look and sees your partners face in a pool of blood. She immediately jumps back and screams so loud (birds eye view of location, birds fly from trees) She can't stand up, but inches away, still shocked at the sight.

Okay, I know everyone is having fun designing/redesigning the script but we need other stuff done too. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but I just think we need to get things done now, and we could get it done fast. We could have this game completed by the end of this year. Here are some things we gotta work on...

1.) Battle System--Is it going to be RTP or CBS?

2.) Menu System--RTP or CMS? Idea for CMS. It could be like a book, and when the player presses the menu button, it would open to the first page, with all the menu items there. Then when they choose one, it turns the page to show the screen. Then when the player goes back, it shows the pages flip back down.

3.) Battle Animations (Characters)--We need a different animation for everything. Each hero has to have a different animation for every action and status ailment.

4.) Battle Animations (Magics)--We need someone to do custom graphics for the magics, and someone who can piece them together to form original Magics. Then when they get about 100 done, they can post it like a tutorial type thing and the rest of the development team can see it. Then, they can make another 100 or so and post that one, so we could see those.

5.) Names--We need original names for everything, from items to magics to characters. I don't know about you guys, but, 10-15 years from now, I want kids to be saying, "I use a Rejuvial Tonic and Cureon!" instead of Pheonix down and Potions. Magics need to have original names, even if you have to mix pieces of names to get one, it has to be original though. I am pretty sure with the diverse staff we have, we could tell if it is an original name or not.

6.) Web Designer--The web designer can start on the site now in whatever program he uses, but don't pay for the domain name yet. Wait until we are about 80-95% done with the game, then launch the site. Post some screenies and short 30 second videos maybe to get people interested. Then after about a month post some more stuff. When we get done with the game, then he could post a release date (release about 3 months after we get it finished). Hopefully there will be very few bugs in it, if any. Then just post just enough information to get people interested, yet not too much, that when it comes out, they feel they have already beaten the game.

GOAL
We want people to be in pain waiting for this game. The way current developers made us wait for games like Halo 2 and Metroid Prime (just a couple great titles that I was dying to play). Then when it comes out, it will be the most popular title for net distribution. The only thing I see wrong with posting the game on a website is the incredible amount of data it would take with the cinematics. We could email it to them, if they send us like $7.95 or something. Just kidding about the price. I feel this game could be as big as some of the most popular games out there. We can do this, we just need a plan to follow.

Anyways I havent seen the charecters up close so I could be speeking out my ass right now, but I picture harris as the skinny yet fit type that could kick you ass and nobody could 'a' thunk it, kinda like hero from gundam wing. I meant to spell think like thunk, damn wed-g. Oh and I aslo think that we should have a character that everyone loves and ends up dying at the end, if anymore characters can be accepted.

Also about the army...one of the little scenes I've got playing in my head is Jason's mind being "awoken". He is taken by an oracle guy, they (the little quest group) meet earlier on, who is with the army fighting etc. Anywho, he takes Jason to his tent, and awakes his mind, which triggersoff Jason's "war machine" ability, causing him to wipe out the whole army camped there...the magic spreads over a 5 or so mile radius, nearly killing the rest of the hroup, who only escape it by goign underwater...anywho, I associate this scene with the end of the game, and the last thing is that the group goes back and finds Jason in a very very big crater left by his destrcutive magic, and they have to fight him, and maybe, I don't have a clue if it will be allowed or not, end up killing him...and the game ending in a cutscene where Jason finds control of his powers etc, and comes to his senses long enough for a tearjerking scene with Emilia crying over him, before finally dieing...

But then again...if we are thinking of making a sequel, that could be hard to do unless someone dabbles in Necromantic arts at the start of the sequel, bringin Jason back and binding him to their will..........and then the game could be played out that they (Hero team from first game minus Jason) try and get Jason back, in the end succeeding and managing to once more send his soul to the underworld...

Just for reference I typed that idea before I told you (wed-g), so Im not trying to turn your team against you. Anyways, on to business. I think that we should leave as much of the main characters past as blank as possible. And then it says something at the end that describes his dark and mysterios past. Like Zidane learns he is a genome in ff 9. My main goal is to leave the player completely speechless throghout the credits.

I wasn't trying to ruin this games by canceling you ideas out, but movies and games alike kill off main characters too much.

Bad news for you guys, especially Lenny. I hate to say this but there is a 30% chance that I might leave the team. I would put Lenny in charge of directing and writing the script, but everything just got more complicated. Me, being the director, one of the programmers, graphics designer and writer makes it very complicated when I don't have my own internet access. It will cost me $40+ just to get a CD burner + CD's.

Plus me and Savagebob(Justin) are in a band. Band practice, schoolwork, laziness... sigh. I'll probably stay with the team and do... work...

Ok, I talk to wed-g every day I seriosly dought he's quiting the team.
I am posting a character I drew for the game. I figured he could be a bad guy at first, then slowly becomes good. I am also going to draw him with his robe off. I know it doesnt look very good, but I have never drawn a person with a robe on, it basically captures the general direction of what I want him to look like. He has words or word written around his hood from the languag for the game. I just made letters up since I dont know what the writen portion of the lanuage looks like. He is about to throw off his jakit but sice I cant draw hands I guess I just tell you. His sword is what is coming out of his back.

Come to think of it, I don't plan on leaving the team. It's too much fun. Me and Savagebob had a long discussion about the game and decided a few key things.

1.) Music. It has to have a good soundtrack. I like the Irish/Celtic stuff, but Savagebob doesn't. But I'm the bossafella'.

2.) Almost all of our characters will be designed by us, mainly using Charas-project.net's character generator. And with the help of Aurvian.

3.) I want to make it as original as possible. I liked the idea of making him and experimental weapon, but Dragon sumthing: Running water did that already. We need to think of something else like that. Sorta raise the bar, if you will(God, my art teacher is getting to me 'if you will').

4.) I should have enough to buy a CD burner soon.

5.) I started production on the game. I should have a demo soon.(2/3 weeks maybe?) I need ideas for mini-games.

Have you played Lysander's The book of Three? He adapted it from a novel by some guy. All the music in it is Irish/Dutch/or Celtic. It is a good game. Good programming.

As for mini games, I have no clue. We couldn't possibly do anything original, because its all been done before. Unless we do one that involves the entire continent/planet that the hero inhabits (final task/minigame) like finding some keys or pieces to something. ORIGINAL IDEA ALERT!!! The hero could move boxes to get across a platform or make a picture. Or he could need to flip switches in a certain order. I'm so original :D........

I didn't want to tell you guys at first but, the player roams 5 islands before he gets to the world map. So there is a lot of space for extras.

Are the islands close to each other/small in comparison to the main world?? If so, that's cool. Or are the 5 islands the entire world? If that's the fact, then would you go to each island seprately? Like say you start off on kakariko island, then you beat the boss there, then you head to the continent of Hyrule? then afterwords, you need to go to each island again to get something so then you get to use an airship/blimp/plane to travel.

NOTE: Island names are taken from Zelda games. They are not originals. Just needed to clarify this. Some people would think I made them up, or call me a thief, and I don't feel like smackin' anyone down today. :D

The islands are not part of the main world. In fact, there really is no world map so to speak. Think about this: it isn’t a traditional world map. There is a large, and I mean large area between towns. But, after the towns are completed I or Savagebob have to go back and recreate the towns to be like 128x128 pixels. And they have to be animated. So, the world map is basically really a large area connecting the towns. To keep the lag down to a minimum I might put the world and the islands on a different map.

Edit: There is a world, as in a large chunk of world.

Bad news. The money that I was saving for a new CD-Burner was just used to by wood for woodshop. BUT! That doesn't halt production at all. Still working on it.

When you go inside, the houses are lit like outside. And there is no way that I know of to make it not rain inside without using alot of fork options. I know how to fix the lighting engine. I just don't want to.

The common event has lots of branches...if whatever...and the switches turn on/off when you go inside...then on/off when you go outside starting the rain again...but then there are the lots of forks you just talked of...my bad...ignore me...

...As for the rain issue then, that's easy - I'm assuming the rain is controlled via a switch at some point, correct? (Even if it's not directly CONTROLLED by the switch, one could be set at that time, as a marker that it is, in fact, raining)

If that's the case, just have all weather stop when going inside any house (don't even have to have a branch going in - just set the weather to do nothing). Going out, just have one branch that sets the weather to rain (based on the [xxxx:HEY GUYS IT'S RAINING] switch). Nothing special there.

Of course, this is assuming you don't have a common event running in the background that tells it to rain every few milliseconds. I'll hope that you didn't make THAT kind of mistake..

I get two little magic thingys...the first is the one in the intro where Jason goes "evil magician" on the wolves asses...with all the red light etc:

Turning round to face the remaining wolves, his eyes glinted with evil power.
The wolves shrank back. Their cockiness gone as they faced him. No longer the person they had been chasing. Now, a madman.
He stretched his arms out to his sides, bringing them level with his shoulders. Slowly, he moved them upwards, above his head, until they touched. He clasped them together and started to mutter to himself. Around him, a red light began to form. Starting at his clasped hands, moving down until he was completely surrounded by it. His smile growing into a bloodthirsty grin, he took a step towards the wolves. Once more they shrank back.
He brought his arms down, as if trying to throw away his hands. He brought them down with such force, he nearly fell forward onto the sodden ground. The red light sprang away from him, splitting as it flew towards the wolves, who, to now avail, were now running away. The strands of red light coiled themselves around wolves legs bringing them to the ground before creeping through their fur, flowing up unwilling nostrils and into unwilling mouths. Each wolf twitched as the red light disappeared inside them.
They lay there for only a minute, twitching occasionally, the seconds dragging past like hours. The man stood like a statue. Arms held in front of him, never moving. Suddenly, he swung his arms out to his sides, once more bringing them level with his shoulders.
The wolves started to twitch uncontrollably. Eyes jumping about in sockets, tongues flapping as if caught in a strong wind.
Slowly, the arms drifted down to hang at the mans sides. His lips moved, uttering a single word.
As one, the wolves exploded in a red mist. Nothing was left of them, but for the red mist drifting towards the man. As it touched him, it changed form. From red mist, to red liquid. The colour of the second moon. Blood. The man’s eyes flashed red, once, twice, three times. The blood covering his body began to disappear. Through the pores of his body it was sucked, leaving nothing but tanned skin, covered in healing wounds, and a bloody rag around the mans waist and thighs. For one last time, his eyes flashed red, before returning to their normal state.
As he slouched off, twelve milky shadows erupted from the ground where the stricken wolves had lain. Their spirits were free from the bodies, but not to return to their beginnings, but to follow their captor, and, ironically, the one who had freed them.

Another is a little idea I got, that I don't know if it will be allowed...

Jason is taken off towards the end of the game by a weird guy...someone with immense healing powers etc. (meet him early on in the game)...to the camp of the UM. Here, he is taken to the healing guys tent...and his mind is unlocked, allowing all his powers to come back to him...but Jason's purpose takes over (he was created in a lab on a different continent as a war machine --- think like Wolverine. He had a little safety system built into him, that if he was attacked, or probed with magic etc...then he attacks), and he killa everything withing a 3 mile radius...this time it is a great ball of black light...

If the idea is allowed, I'll descirbe it later on...

There's a guy Jason beats in the town who joins the party...I can't remember his name...that guy could be him...

Anti-hero Hero: (3rd character is charset) He is the person who looks like a villain, yet has the heart of gold, and always tries to hide under his bad-boy, hate-the-world attitude. He is the one who would progressively get mushy through out the game (start as a hard ass, giving everyone a hard time; by the end of the game, he would be all, "YEAH!! Let's do this, this planet needs to be saved and we're the only people who can do it!"

Again, yes. Thinks highly of himself...but is made fun of by the hero and literally trodden into the mud beneath the hero's boots...secretly likes the girl, but tries as hard as possible to keep it to himself...and is extremely good at doing so...never or rarely lets his guard down...

I've typed up the little scene where the hero and the girl meet the guy you drew...they meet him on the outskirts of the town; the hero is pulling the girl along behind him trying to get away from the town quickly - don't know why yet - and so the come to a crossroads. They don't know which way to go, so the hero just pulls her down one road...a bit further down the road they take is a big rock, the guy you drew is sat on the side that the hero can't see so he doesn't notice him as he rushes past. The guy on the rock sees the hero pulling along a girl, thinks he's doing it against her will, so shouts at him "What are you doing?" etc etc. Big fight follows, guy beaten literally trodden in mud. After some thought follows them, wanting to join team. Few days later he finds them in a clearing and presents his service to them.

I'll upload it later, when my floppy disc drive begins to work again...:p...thing is, I've written a lot before it, amd a bit after it, so I'm afraid you're gonna have to scan through it..

Also, I've made up my own colours of the guys clothing etc. for the moment...I'll change 'em when I see the colour version...

I have a HUGE plot twist. The girl that the main character likes is using him to get revenge on the main bad guy. SHE'S A USER!!!

Anyways, here is my dude all beaten up after a battle. He is missing a leg because I didn't feel like drawing it. I actually finished it about 20-30 mins after my previous post. I might draw some poses for him so you could do a sprite (rear, side, front views).

After a few weeks of development, I should have a demo! I just need a jump drive. Graphically, I used Mac and Blue chipsets. (KOE) and musically I think I have a good selection.

After I get chapter one together, you guys can take over. I'll do the coding so I can director all over it and shape it to our greatest advantage.

The demo will be only for us to use, not a full scale demo. but the thing is, the demo is more than a mb so I am not sure if I can upload it. Zelaron might not let me. unsure on the sites policy.

as for the trailer, it is what is to be expected. it has 'beautiful' graphics unlike the pre-beta demo. I have to go back and either make new ones or edit current ones to my liking.

still need to buy a jump drive.

The filename is "Bladestar Icon.bmp" so I'll assume it's.. the icon for Bladestar. If that's not the case, then I have no idea.

Not to dis you or anything, but I thought a halfling was a short person. Half the size of a normal person. At least that's what it is according to D&D. Maybe you are going by something else?

Anyways, I haven't finished the pics for the sprite of that one guy. I am also going to be on less due to me learning 3 new languages. Those are Japanese, C++, and HTML. Okay so the last 2 aren't actually spoken, but they are very important in the new world of technology. Japanese has always interested me since I started watching DBZ on Saturdays at about 10-11 way back in like 97 I think. Way back when Raditz first landed. LOL, ever since then, I have been fascinated.

By the way, Aurvian, nice picture. And just a quick question, is his body facing away from us, and his head is facing us? One more thing, I like the way you left the sketch lines in the pic. I do the samething unless it is a copy I plan on doing something important with. It gives it that "classic artistic" look. Very professional.

Yeh. I had to restart the game pro. cuz it lagged way to much. But now the engine is staight-clean and runs smooth.

Little info:

1(numpad) and 3(numpad) makes the on screen menu (menu, journal, save, ??) selector move. .(numpad) selects the menu item.

The base engine is an on-screen menu 1(numpad) move the cursor left 3(numpad) move the cursor right. 0(numpad) is the selector(changed during debug the other day.) the icons to select range from menu(CMS), diary(won't be completed until the game is completed[due to vast amount of entries]), and save game.

It has a day-might system with a light-range system, depending on if you are inside or out. and a time system 1 minute is and hour game time.

and the menu system is alot better.

After messing with XP for awhile im think we should go to it most of its bugs can be fixed with the use of scripting. I've been playing with it seems easy plus if you have an error it tells you the exact line where it is present so...

Yea true 2k3 is better at that... but it can be fix with scripting cause with coding I was still able to make a good cutscene it just goes by way to fast...
and the labels are all fucked up =\. they really need to come out with a patch. But imma start a new story on 2k3 about bounty hunters prob and knights....

You know how when you fight your special bar goes up... well have it when its full and you choose to pull of a special you have to put in a certain command for a certain character. here is a quick example i made using paint.

The guy in the cloak reveals Jason's real name (Raphael).

Where it keeps on flicking to a different place (the dark room with the guy who kills the other with magic, and the one with the ships). The force is the invasion force. I'll describe more when I got more time.

One other thing. The Power Pernicious is something I'm writing, or have been writing since September. It is part of a series I'm writing called the Worlds of Muldrum. Which means that the story isn't primarily for this game, I'm letting it be used for the game. Change the names if you must, I'm keeping the as I want them. If you want to change the story line, then by all means do.

Unless I feel extremely kind by the end of everything, then if the story is used, I'd like it if somewhere in the credits it could be said that the game is based upon the book "The Power Pernicious" by Lenny...we can sort it out later...again when I have the time.

Have fun picking over the story to bits as you get info for sprites and the like. Tomorrow I will explain what is happening in the story, and the scenes I have playing in my head and what I would do if changing this inot an RPG Game.

well the battle system with Legend of legaia was quite simple it required you to code in your turn based attacks putting up, down, left, and right into different combonations.
The fun part was prob the req. (this will help us add another type of stat.)
a req. is the combo Bar. the main character starts out with 3 slots (this could be a potential stat in our game possibly called CFS short for Characters Fighting Strentgh) I forgot how you made it go up but near the end of the game you could execute a combination with ten slots. or nine i forget the max was either nine or ten slots. Also, there were other req but they dont seem so important.

Brief thingy so you know what to expect:

- Raphael/Jason (whatever he's called) --> Magic attacks - in the cutscenes he's got the deadly magic attacks (think the red light in the intro, and there's his black light self-destruct thingy in the ending), in battle your average magic attacks, maybe lift some from the FF's...and then his 'overdrive' attacks if you will are slightly watered down versions of the cutscene attacks...usually mean instant death...

- Cecily/Emilia (again, I got diff. name) - Healer of the group. If Raph. is like Lulu (I'm talking FFX here), then Cecily is like Yuna...to some degree (minus the summoning)...

- Azrael/??? (I call him Azrael) - devastating with a sword - think Tidus with Auron's attacks...ish...

- Party memberess 4 (name??? Not a clue) - Erm...he he he...a scene has just popped into my head where Raph, Cec, and Az are all asleep in an inn, and a thief tries to steal objects etc...becomes party member...think Riku attacks of sort...and she can be a girl...we onlky got one so far...

- Party member no. 5 (name?? Male...maybe...off top of head...Khirma???) Erm...he can be the...big blue guy...:p...nah...I don't know, my expertise in things run out after the fourth person...

I think maybe 6 members in all...6 is just right...anything else is either too many or too less...someone help with ideas for party members 5 and 6's attacks...please??

So you have a Fighter, White Mage, Black Mage, and a Thief? You need a Red Mage to complete the set, probably.

The Red Mage would be able to do some of everything (fighting, healing, magic attack) but not really specialized. It's pretty much Kimahri, except Kimahri never really had access to everything at once (which is why he's generally considered useless - if you make him a fighter, he's not as good as Auron, if you want another healer, he won't be as good as Yuna, etc. ). A 'real' Red Mage doesn't just have all the paths open to him from the start, he takes all of them at once, so he could be a good attacker and heal a bit and do some random Bolt 2 spells.

As to #6, Disposable Unimportant Gimmick Character is a good choice (see FF6's Mog, FF7's Cait Sith, FF9's Quina, 50% of Chrono Cross's cast, and FF10's Kimahri). Either that or you could follow the FF2j example of "put random people in that slot and kill them off constantly".

Some of my favorite characters (just for analysis perhaps -- to try and decide what makes a good character):

Tellah - FF4 - Badass wizard but old and can't remember most of his spells. He remind me a LOT of Fizban from the Dragonlance series. I love this character.

Shadow - FF6 - "He would slit his mother's throat for a nickel." Hardened, ruthless. Awesome dog.

Frog - Chrono Trigger - Valliant. Proud. Too proud sometimes. Unique... I mean, he's a damn frog after all.

Palom and Parom - FF4 - Spellcasting twins. Opposites of each other. (Much more character in the Japanese version. Damn you, American translators.) Rambunctous. Funny.

Cyan - FF6 - Expert swordsman. Compasionate man compelled to ruthless action and lust for vengeance.

A 'real' Red Mage doesn't just have all the paths open to him from the start, he takes all of them at once, so he could be a good attacker and heal a bit and do some random Bolt 2 spells.

Member #6 - I'm a going with the Tamer idea Mr. Bob put forward in GMT Thrd 3. His basic attacks are with a whip...and as he levels up he gets better whip attacks, and gets attacks with animals...

Whilst I'm a new-posting, any ideas for the names of Members #4, 5 and 6???

- They've got to be names that fit in with the story...for example, Raphael and Azrael are from the continent of Monterassat and have the weird "ael" type names, think Italian names during the kind of Renaissance period (???). The tamer (male) is also from Monterassat so must alos have a name like that...maybe he can be Leonardo...
- Some of the people from the continent of Iuirlas have everyday names that aren't widely used IRL...such as Cecily. The thief (female) will have one of these names...such as....erm...Kara???
- As for our Red Mage...erm...well, he's from Ascalarth, a peaceful, sophisticated continent...so he must have a itelligent name...no???

(If you want to know where I'm getting these continents from - Monterassat, Iuirlas, Ascalarth - then you can find them in a word doc in my Worlds of Muldrum thread in the literature part of the interests forum...I think)...

I've just remembered about this thing...sorry Aurv., you're still waiting...:p...I've decided on the names btw...though as for the Raphael/Jason and Cecily/Emilia ones we can vote for them...hell, let's vote on all of them.

Everyone involved in this put forward the names you think people should have (you too Wed, if you're reading this), and we'll have a vote on them.

The names I've got are:

- Raphael (main guy; Black Mage)
- Cecily (main gal; White Mage)
- Azrael (second main guy; Swordsman)

- Kirma (party member; Red Mage)
- Kara (party member; Thief)
- Leonardo (party member; Animal Tamer/Trainer)

A sidethought, what do people think about having party members that aren't permanent but appear as the game goes on. A good example of this is (from Kingdom Hearts 1) Aladdin in Agrabah, or Tarzan in Deep Jungle, or Jack Skellington in Halloween Town etc.

The thing we'll have to do then though is make it the game so that it can happen...which is where our scripter would come in. He or she would take the thing I'm writing, and add to it ideas from everyone else, and put it into script form. For example (quick 30 second job here, but it puts across what I mean)

Tutorial: On boat, how to move etc. (- in game tutorial guy = BlueCube???)
Intro scene: Boat wrecked in storm, Raph. awakes on land.
[Short play modey bit: (Could be used as a tutorial instead of the boat tutorial) move about, ends when you stumble upon pack of wolves]
Cutscene: Raphael running from wolves and killing them with magic. Ends when he slumps against the gates.
Cutscene: Guard on top of wall looks down and sees Raphael against gate.
Play time: Control guard. Pick up Raphael and carry him through town to the Inn.

And so on. The cutscenes will have to be scripted like a film script or play script. If no-one wants to do that then I can do it (scripting the cutscenes), but we really need someone to script the story and ideas into a script to be turned into the game.

On the names, some of them I like.

I would suggest Sylian (pronounced Sill-Ian) instead of Cecily.

Also, I don't really like the combination of Kirma and Kara. They both start with K and sound very much alike for characters that aren't related or something.

I like the names, like the idea and I think we shouldn't play out the game as one character, but as several. Like Lenny's idea about play as a guard at one point. You can help him, or you can't. Either way Raphael ends up in the castle room resting.

The game should play out as several characters during cutscenes. But you can play them. Very open ended... Damm, now I wish I was still the leader.

Edit: I read the part about Raphael being a mage... hmmm... I've never heard of the main character as a mage. But, its a good idea. But also, why don't we make a job system, sort of. Like (FF5?) and FFX-2 where you put on different clothes and you have different abilities.

If you like this idea'o'mine, then tell me and give me a list of things to add to our game like, for ex.

Raphael(Mage) abilities:
LV1: Fire, Water, Lightning, Ice
LV2: etc...

Raphael(Lancer) abilities:
LV1: Joust
LV2: Lance Spin
LV3: etc...

This way we could make it alot easier with the menu. For ex. If you equip Raphael with a Lance and he is LV4 with the Lance outfit, than a certain lance is equipped to him. He can now do certain abilities and has certain skills.

Man... this is cool... I HAVE FOUND INSPIRATION AGAIN!

The playing out as different characters idea will need some working. Unless...he he he...you can play as each party member for a bit before they join the group...for example...Cecily could...fetch the groceries??? (Yawn!), Azrael fights Raph. (Should be fun), the thief has to do a skilly bit and try to steal from the characters (idea for this...the better you do it, the better the thief is when they join the party??), the Red Mage has to...do something or other...and so does the animal tamer...

I'm gonna make a new reply for the jobs idea...

I was supposed to make a list of all the different abilities the characters learn a few days ago...but I forgot, and am gonna have to do it asap. If you could give me a list of different possible jobs now then I can write the abilities thingy with all the different jobs, instead of editting it later...

If we can get the idea to work in the game then we will definitely use it. We want this game to be as good as we can make it. Anything such as different jobs improves the game.

Anyone else with ideas, however minor or major, post them, and we will try and get them into the game...if we can't, then we'll modify them until we can...

I like the job idea, but I didn't like how it was executed in FF5. Effectively, every character was the same but with different names. I think each character should only have a few choices of jobs that correspond with their background and initial class. This is so they don't all end up having the same ultimate abilities and being, generally, the same character.

For example, and I like this, but the titles may need some rewording:

- Raphael (main guy; Black Mage) - Elemental Mage (fire, water, lightning, earth type spells), Undead Mage ("summons," poison, decay type spells), Death Mage (doom, death, vanish type spells)

- Cecily (main gal; White Mage) - Holy Mage (damage to evil or undead spells), Cleric (heal spells), Augmentor (buff spells)

- Azrael (second main guy; Swordsman) - Knight, Samurai, Ninja

- Kirma (party member; Red Mage) - Time Mage (stop, slow, haste type spells), Destruction Mage (damage spells), Heal Mage (heal spells)

- Kara (party member; Thief) - Assassin (knife specialty, throw, etc), Super Thief (specialty in stealing rather than damage)

- Leonardo (party member; Animal Tamer/Trainer) - Water Tamer (water creatures), Earth Tamer (earth creatures), Wind Tamer (air creatures)

Sub Kara for Sylian if I get my way.

Okay, sorry I haven't been on in a while, but i've had some other important issues (money) and have gotten that pretty much squared away. I am going to try to still be the Animator, and am going to start the opening thing.

The job system is going to be like in FF Tactics? For those of you who don't know how that goes, let me explain. You start out with only 2 or 3 classes, and as you "level-up" the class, more become available. Such as, Ninja, which you need to have level 8 of 3 other classes that related to that class. The 3 were Thief, and 2 others I don't remember right now.

The playing of each sepereate character, from the way it was described, would be like that of Dragon Warrior 4 (NES). I know many of you have never played that game so let me give a brief summary. You first start as the hero. You get orders from the king to handle some evil dude in a tower, and so you go handle it. I mean, you are the hero. But, in Chapter 2, you play as a princess and must do something for her. Then you play as a merchant (best part in the entire game) and you do a little shopkeeping, then you need to get supplies from another town, and so starts his journey. Eventually, all the characters meet up, and find that they have to help each other to complete the BIG journey. Anyways, yeah. It kinda sounds like that.

I have just gotten Yahoo! Messenger thingy, and my SN is NeoDraco2K3, because Draco2003 was already taken. DAMN YOU OTHER PEOPLE WHO TAKE MY NAME ON PURPOSE!!!! :mad:

And finally, I heard that Wed-G is no longer the head honcho. Then he gets the inspiration again. I think maybe he just needed to relieve some of the stress. As for the new master of bladestar, I jes wanna say, CONGRATULATIONS!!! :D :grin: :D ^_^


P.S. Character Names! I almost forgot. I have worked some on my ability to come up with names. I ain't perfect, but here's what I got: Kura-san-Gurimai, Hiroriku, Rygerth, Gertanma, Byth, Retunmus, Veritus, Yeligur, Kolminar, Kergull, Vutirael, Nikogasa, Asynber, and lastly Hakusage. If you decide to use some, ask me how they are pronounced. Some of these could also be names of towns, or whatever. That's 14 names, so hope you could use at least one....hopefully......

You are gonna get your way...Kara is now Sylian. I like the idea of each person having their own jobs. And I like Draco's idea that as the person levels up they are able to "access" new job types (which become available as you level up).

I've gotta start writing all this down, my printer is on it's last legs now...:p...

As for Khirma's jobs, Red Mages are supposed to do a bit of everything (I haven't the faintest idea, I'm a going with what BC said), so Khirma must have jobs from each of the three main classes - Black Mage, White Mage and Swordsman.

Which level-up-to-get-jobs thingy is gonna be used? I read your (Draco's) post as being when the characters level goes up, but on re-reading I found it actually said when the character gets to a certain level in a job...I have no idea which one we are gonna use...anyone??

Another idea...instead of getting new jobs as you level up, you get new attacks and abilities within each job...but only when you level up that job...take the job system in FFX-2...something like that...and maybe you can get a new job when your character reaches a certain level...

Right, screw editting an old post and making it too full of detail, here's a brand new post...

Another idea, to do with jobs etc. Each member starts off with a basic job thingy (Eg Raphael - Basic Mage; Cecily - Basic Heal; Azrael - Basic Swords skills) and as they level up then the other three or two jobs become available...let's try and make it 3 other jobs, then each character has 4 jobs to choose from...

Also, each member who isn't really a weapon-weildr can have their own weapon (excludes Azrael) to start off with that they can upgrade (Eg Cecily - Staff; Leonardo - Whip; Sylian - Knives; Kirma - Spear??; Raphael - Hand type things -- such as Iron Fist, or Brass Knuckles)...

I'm fine with whatever system we end up with as long as it's not like that of FF5. That's because of the sheer fact that all characters were exactly alike. Yes, I think upgrading to the next tier class requiring a certain level in lower tiered classes is a good idea, but we'd have to come up with a good number more classes.

For instance, one character would have 4 options, then when he got to level 5 in 2 of them, a new class would open up. That would require three 2nd tier classes. Assuming we only have two tiers, that's 7 classes for each charater. While some of them may overlap (in the case of the red mage), I'm very adamant in the idea that classes should be mostly (if not entirely) character-specific. We want difference in our characters. They need to be useful in different ways (or at least in different styles).

I think, if this is what we want to do, that I can sit down and see if I can pump out seven or more classes for each character type and then try to organize them into some rational sort of progression. If I'm not busy today, I'll see what I can come up with.

Note about the Red Mage, he could have watered down versions of some of the Black and White mages jobs, and the Swordsmans jobs...but not all of them. With another 7 classes for each person then the red mage would have somewhere around 30 classes, and maybe some specific to him...so...we'd need to do something about him...maybe give him only a few of each persons classes and one or two of his own...

If, maybe, you could "pump out" a few example abilities for each character job (one or two would be enough - something like: Black Mage - Job: Elemental Mage - Fira, Firaga) then I'll be able to create a list of abilities and describe them so Aurvian can make them...

First of all, the red mage should have no more jobs than the other classes. He's the perfect example of the jack of all trades master of none philosophy. He's a combination of their powers, not a body able to gain all of them.

Secondly, and damn this took a long time, how's this?

Most spells will have variable levels of power. In this way their damage or effectiveness will increase. That's why the higher rank spells with the same effect have different names (Soothe, Heal, and Recover all heal, but there will be Soothe, Soothe II, and Soothe III before Heal is acquired.). Some spells will only have the one level (such as Life).

For example: If Raphael is a level 3 Elemental Mage, a level 2 Undead Mage, and a level 1 Poison Mage, he will have the following:
Fire III, Water III, Lightning III, Earth III, Summon Skeleton II, Summon Zombie II, Summon Wraith II, Poison, Decay, Drain

- Raphael ( Black Mage)
Rank 1: Elemental Mage - Fire, Water, Lightning, Earth
Rank 1: Undead Mage - Summons Sketon (strong melee attack), Summon Zombie (attack and poison damage), Summon Wraith (attack and small chance of death)

Hey, guess what. Good news.

The v1.0 engine will be done by Saturday. A slight delay due to a new part of the system. I added a volume control for BGM and SFX.

i cant get it to work in RM2K3, maybe im doing something wrong. I extracted the file to the folder i use, and i still cant open it. I noticed that it doesnt have the little Alex icon file, which i guess represents the game. You might wanna check that, or maybe im delerious. O.O Anyways hurry and fix it, cause the suspense is killing me.

Dude, it's not supposed to have that file. It is too big(to me) to put in there so take one from a different game.

The file is not a game, really. It is just the engine. Ignore the stuff I forgot to take out, like items and such... stupid me.

The diary doesn't work for the following reasons: the diary is such a custom system, that if I made a layout for it, then if a lot of people use the engine, than no one would have an original game.

If you try to play the game it'll say missing file "Wed-G" don't worry. It's just a charset that didn't go with the game. Set the main hero "Player" to a different Charset.

It is RM2K3, so that file would be a necessity to open the file.

I've got everyone excited now, I hope it's not a dissappointment.

Setting: Fades in on a boat with mist floating by. A hooded man is standing on the north side of the boat(boat is facing left on-screen). A few people are walking on deck.

Cutscene: The captain walks to the middle of the boat.

Captain: “The boat will land in a few minutes. Make sure ya gacher stuff wicha.”

The captain walks off-screen.

Play-time(Ship):Allow player to walk around and talk to anyone on the ship.

Four events to talk to:
Captain: “Iffin yer gonna make trouble, I’ll a-toss ya overboard.”
NPC 01: “This is my first time to sail to Iuirlas. I hope it is what I expect it to be.”
NPC 02: “I had to get away from Monterassat. There is too much politics right now.”
Sailor: “Don’t mind the captain. He don’t mean no harm.”

Cutscene After player talks to everyone, the scene fades. Player hears a thud sound and the scene fades in with player docked at a harbor.

Play-time(Milacan Harbor): Allow player to walk off the boat and head to the woods.

Six events to talk to:
Captain: “We won’t let ta Monterassat til mornin.”
Sailor: “We have to stock up on supplies for our trip back to Monterassat.”
Col. Nesan: “Northwest of this harbor is Milacan Castle. Milan is the town inside the castle walls.”
NPC 03: “This harbor has be in repair for nearly a decade, yet it still works perfectly.”
Glyphnode: Would you like to save you game?”
Yes or No
Yes case: open save screen, complete healing.
No case: end event.
Teleport Event: Teleport to Milian Forest.

Play-time(Milian Forest): Two maps of the forest, Southeast end and Northwest end.

North west end:
Cutscene: Character walks north and comes to a pond. He sits and rests on a log.
Cloaked man: “What a long trip…”

Wolves howl in the distance.

Well I have a drawing book with attacks, dont have it with me though but ill lend you in later.


I have an idea about giving the characters ranks we use a crs or Customizable Rank System. The heroes ranks can be customized, if you want them to be a certain rank or somethin they have to search, do certain subquests, read certain books and find certain gems/etc.
Also clothing should be attachable by your progression in a chosen rank or regular level. Same with spells/attacks.
CRS means we have to use a custom battle system. its up to you guys. ANother idea certain things can be found during certain parts of the day keep it daily or weekly cause monthly and yearly get annoying. Gotta wait till fthe first of the month till dojo opens again....DAMN!!!!

I've been talking to Tyran and he has this to say about the site:

Well, im gonna make it out of images, hoping someone could take some screenshots from the demo itself. I am gonna make a short one level game and I want the same system as the other game(color schcme from text menus etc) so I can set the menu text to be the links I will use, take an SS and cut them out and use them as the link buttons.

I will want a colour idea from the team for the middle where all the info will be for each link.

Just copy that nad post it for me.

Its gonna be great.

You know, take screenshots from the game itself to be used as the layout. But instead of completely random screenshots, take ones from ingame cutscenes and battles. Ones that are interesting and can be used to create a layout as lenny posted that this 'tyran' person asked him to.

Also, I think that we need some new names for quite a few...especially the upgrades...instead of having II or III after the attack...

What do people think??

You will need lots of swords.. for a weapon and 20 stone types, with a max of 3 stones at a time:

From my calculations it is 7,980 different combinations (21*20*19), and that's assuming that you can't have the same stone more than once, and there's not more than one blank space. That's one "base" weapon. Good luck

Well, how about a weapon having a maximum of one stone, and stones can be combined to make more powerful stones.

For example:
3 fires make a "fire 2"
3 "fire 2"s (9 fires) make a "fire 3"
3 "fire 3"s (27 fires) and 3 "water 3"s (27 waters) make a flare
3 "earth 3"s (27 earths) and 3 "lightning 3"s (27 ligntnings) make a meteo
3 meteos (81 earths and 81 lightnings) and 3 flares (81 waters and 81 fires) make an Ultima.

Thus, you would have 15 different stone types, but only 15 variations of each weapon because you only get one stone per weapon. Also, it wouldn't be easy to make all your weapons Ultimas simply because of the sheer amount of time it would take. You could make the items drop rarely, but higher level creatures and bosses drop the higher level ones.

Fire 1/2/3, Water 1/2/3, Bolt 1/2/3, Earth 1/2/3, Meteo, Flare, Ultima (15 stones, plus the blank for 16 types). Not too bad, but remember that it's a 16x multiplier to however many "base" weapons you have in the game. Assuming 25 weapons, that's 400 with that system. Of course, it depends ENTIRELY on whether or not you want to put that kind of effort into it.


Also, I'm wondering what the difference between the Fire and Fire3 swords would be? Just attack power? Because they'd both simply have the Fire element on it.

"Breaking" the weapon would require some major forethought, however - Unless you like having code like this:

Not very neat, nearly impossible to change who owns what weapon, and shared weapons would get confusing as heck.

At a glance, it would be better to do something like below. However, you'd have to plan the items in advance, so that the numbers are done correctly. The Weak Sword (and variants) might be number 21-40, the Medium Sword might be 41-60, etc.

Interestingly, weapon upgrades would be best done in the following manner - get the current weapon number, and see what you have. If you have a "base" number ( (WeaponUpgrade - 1) % 10 = 0 ), which simply means that it "ends in 0", it's a base weapon - no need to see if it's equal to 20, equal to 40, equal to 60, equal to 80, etc. Then, you would see what "kind" of upgrade you'd want. If you want a Fire3 upgrade? Simply take the base number and add 3, and add that sword to the inventory (taking away the Fire3 crystal in the process, of course). Not as much coding as 30 if statements... and if you want to change a weapon's owner? The routine DOESN'T CARE who owns what weapon - just see if Dude 1's weapon is a base weapon, add 3, and you're done.

Bah, I have a bad habit of coding something in my head whenever I see a suggestion, but you're used to it by now anyway...

The downside with that, as BC pointed out, is that if we have elemental stones, status effect inflicting stones, and stat boosting stones, all able to be added to any weapon, we're going to have (assuming 15 stones from each category) 3376 weapons to code for each base weapon. If each of 6 players has 8 specific weapons, that's 162048 weapons to code...

The reason most pictures you've seen have this foggy look is probably because we have terrible weather here...especially where I am...either that or it is smog etc...

Story Themes so far
possible beginning (1)
Jason is the one with the hidden past(partly because of the amnesia.)
Emilia secretly likes Jason and tries to help him everyway she can. Especially in the intro/scene 1 after Emilia finds Jason she takes him back to her house. In scene 2, soldiers come in the middle of the night showing her a picture of Jason and ask if she had seen him. She says no and they leave. The next day she tells her mother and she throws a fit and wants him out. He has not yet recovered and Emilia trys to reason with her mom. I'll tell more later. I have to go.
Possible ending
Also about the army...one of the little scenes I've got playing in my head is Jason's mind being "awoken". He is taken by an oracle guy, they (the little quest group) meet earlier on, who is with the army fighting etc. Anywho, he takes Jason to his tent, and awakes his mind, which triggersoff Jason's "war machine" ability, causing him to wipe out the whole army camped there...the magic spreads over a 5 or so mile radius, nearly killing the rest of the hroup, who only escape it by goign underwater...anywho, I associate this scene with the end of the game, and the last thing is that the group goes back and finds Jason in a very very big crater left by his destrcutive magic, and they have to fight him, and maybe, I don't have a clue if it will be allowed or not, end up killing him...and the game ending in a cutscene where Jason finds control of his powers etc, and comes to his senses long enough for a tearjerking scene with Emilia crying over him, before finally dieing..

Possible story partIve been thinkin about the story and I think that should happen after awhile like
(Jason is fighting in a battle for a seperate country then where his adventure will take place. )
After the battle the soldiers go back to the town and Jason goes home and goes strait to sleep. When he wakes up the next one he imediately gets an assignment. He has to go on a ship and sail to another town, to take them from the sea while some others will take them from the ground. While on sea a few days pass and he runs into an ambush. (Me and the animator show a cut scene where jason goes to help out and then it goes blank or somethin and he wakes up on beach) WHile on the beach he doesnt remeber any of the past events. He gets into a battle and then the monsters take somethin of his runs into the woods. from the woods he follows and then he gets jacked of most of his valuables that wasnt wiped away at sea, and is nearly killed. They leave him there and he is found the next day by Leone... Emalias lil brother. Leone takes him to his house and clothes him and his sister tends to his wounds. He wakes up and tries to move but emalia tells him he is wounded and tells him everything she knows between the time her brother found her and the time he has been there. A day passes and then the town is attacked , this is when he find out that the country is is being invaded by an evil guy with an army and a hunger for power. He is still wounded but he still goes out to fight for them Emilia tries to stop him but comes with him because she knows he wont listen. After the town is nearly half destroy but defended they return to emelias and go to sleep. THey wake up the next mourning and Emilia realizes her brother never came home. They go out to find him but hes already dead when they find him..

Possible story part
He is apart of another army, but feels that the (highest ranking officer) is just attacking villages because it makes him feel powerful. He discovers this to be true, and tries to tell the rest of his squad/platoon. They, very loyal soldiers, think he (the main character) is trying to take over the army. The hero and a few friends decide to leave, but the general dude tries to kill them. There are 6 escapees, ony 4 make it to the ship, which they steal from the lower, weaker soldiers cleaning it. They leave the island/continent/city and just sail in whichever way the wind blows. After a few weeks, they get caught in a massive hurricane/typhoon storm and one of the escapees falls over board and drowns. The last three manage to survive the storm, but, encounter a large sea creature. The creature is defeated, with no casualties, but as it goes under, its undertow is too strong for the ship. The last thing the player sees is the ship go under, and the screen fades to black. When the hero awakens on the beach, he realizes he has massive gashes, and a piece of wood sticking out of his side. he can't find his fellow soldiers, so he decides to head inland. He gets to the outskirts of the city, and faints.

Then the Soldiers are searching for a criminal that has just broken out of prison, and they search pretty far. The criminal sees your body, and takes your clothes, weapons, armor, items and gold. He scampers away, and about 10 minutes later, the guards come across your stripped body, and see you are greatly injured. The girl's brother, a very caring soul even though he is a soldier, decides to take you in, regardless of your background. You are taken to his house, where the city healer has you under a restraint spell, and the soldiers pull the wood out of you. You wake up screaming, and try to get out of bed, but you are still too weak, and you fall over and slowly lose consiousness. The city healer heals you and puts bandages with a special ointment to cure the scars. After many days (about 8-14) you awaken, and meet your caretaker, the soldier's sister. The hero just stares at her, and then closes his eyes again. Then another week or so passes and you wake up, and don't remember who you are, actually you don't remember anything before now. The village takes you in, and you become a normal townsfolk person. 4 months pass, and you hear shouting outside your house. You go outside to see what happened, and you see a familiar emblem on a heavily-armored soldier, picking on a friend of yours. But, you aren't angry at the fact your friend is getting pushed around, your a enraged at the emblem, and you don't even know why. You grab the nearest sword and attack full force. (Insert battle). After the battle ends, your character continues to slash and stab and cut up the soldier. Your caretaker stops you, and, since you are covered in blood, she takes you to get cleaned up. There, she tells you of how her brother came across your body, and everything else they know about. You tell her you don't remember anything, but the emblem on that soldiers armor made you go berserk. After the bath, she takes you on a stroll of the beach, and you come across one of your fellow escapees. He is dead, but the armor is made from a very durable mineral, so you take it, even though it is very beat up. This information seems to be easy for you to notice, but your caretaker explains she has never seen the mineral, or armor design anywhere before.
Possible part
Jason, Emilia, and (temporary party member) are searching the continent for scrolls/parchment/stone tablets or some other special artifact, when they come across your lost shipmate. He, unlike you, remembers everything (a little differently, because of the brain washing) and tries to kill you. Your party fights back (obviously) and starts to win. (shipmate) is amazed at your strength, and flees. Your team decides to chase him, and your temporary party member is the first to find him. (at this point game play changes to that of the temp. member) You fight against (shipmate) and lose. He kills you in a very evil and gory way, and leaves your body parts spread out across the floor. He laughs and flees again. (control goes back to your party) Then Jason and Emilia come across his mangled body, and you don't know what it is. Jason realizes it and jumps back, and starts to gag. Emilia, still in the dark about the object, looks at it. She leans over to get a closer look and sees your partners face in a pool of blood. She immediately jumps back and screams so loud (birds eye view of location, birds fly from trees) She can't stand up, but inches away, still shocked at the sight.

-if they havent eaten for days or nights :they wont die just attack is normal defense is lowered and stats given by clothes dont have any effect
-If they have eaten way to much then: they wont die just attack is weak defense is normal and stats are given by the clothes
- if they have eaten just below or just above a normal level then there is no affect
- if what they have eaten is just right then they get a stat boost x2 for the foods content
- food content is a normal boost certain food gives most food fills hunger but some food can increase attack, defense, agility, etc for a certain amount of time (the longer it stands the more it costs or the more it increases and attribute)
- Also about the eating thing you can only eat food to the perfect point of stat boosting, if you over eat instead of falling to the perfect point it will fall to right below the perfect point.

- Hooded Character is accompanied by a girl with a jewel hers does wind
- evil guy has mind control on his he can only control people with jewels if they dont have a ward on them
-third character doesnt have a jewel and searches for purpose cause hes an orphan (main reason why he can go around and the player can customize his rank... when i say customize it can only be chosen once.)

Bad news everyone. I've just got an emial from Tyran saying he can't carry on with the website because of problems <-- He didn't say what, but they can't be all that good...

He has agreed to send anything he has made for the website to whoever becomes the new webmaster so...all is not lost.

He is really sorry, and wishes that he could go on working with the team, but, these things happen so...

Bit of criticism:

The collar on the right for the male seems out of perspective or something. The angle just looks wrong.

The female's nose is too far to the left and possibly too big. The big factor could just be created by the left factor. She's just angled far enough to justify her nose being that close to her right eye (her right, not ours).

The B's not pronounced enough. It's kind of hazy.

And finally... does yours say Bladestar? Because Lenny's says Backstar.

i know back star is the old one I was soppose to change it to bladestar

Hey,um I just watched X-Play do a review of a game called Shining Tear....and it is remarkably similar to ours....o.O I am hoping this is just a coincidence...If you want to know exactly how it is similar, let me give a brief summary. The hero is found on a beach, and has lost him memory. He is taken in by a young lady, and the hero has a Ring (jewel in our game) and that is the source of his power. im striat with green comments, yellow is kinda bright against this background... ehm our story is overly cliched i love playing rpgs and there are 7 other rpgs with the same story line just different names and different events. Its always goes the guy who cant remeber anything is swept up on a beach .... we could change it to the main character is on a ship and after the ship gets wrecked he is found floating in the ocean days later during a naval battle

"Change Rank Menu"

"Cheat"
"Options"
"Exit"

All I have left to program is the Change Rank selector stuff, like ranks and stuff. I wanted to know if what we have for the ranks is the final. I liked it and didn't want to change it. I hope you all will feel the same about it.

Abilities can be changed later. I just think the ranks are correct as they are.

Copyright registration differs in the US and the UK, so I had to put all those notes there before while I was finding the UK version of the law. I posted the US version originally before checking out Lenny's site and guessing he was from the UK. Naturally posting the US instructions would be useless to him. At least it's okay now..

ok two things that ive found we can do to show monster movement is turn them invisible then use a condition branch with battle animation / or a custom battle system which would prob use condition branches and battle animations in the first place

Nicholai is on page 6 for me i did a quick sketch of him the last pick is of raphael who use to be jason and...
