Woo, I'm gonna take a break. Is there anything in particular people want something written about? Next up is general info on quests/playing style/cities/tradeskills..

Please talk about talents too because that is what I am most confused about.

Not to mention Warriors rape everyone in PVP ^^

do you think i would be crazy to do a hunter at retail grav?? I know they are quite gimped right now but i figure once they get talents they should be alright.

If you're not going to PvP at all, it doesn't really matter, but this clan is going to be on a PvP server, which means you'll be forced into it at level 25 and up..

Holy shit, Grav. You're a god. That's quite informative.

So I guess in the end talents are what seperates a shitty character from a good one?

That coupled with how the person plays. But, that'd determine a shitty player from a good player, I guess.

Well i know that i would have to PvP... i'm just wondering if the hunter will still be useless in pvp even with talents...

I can't say for sure. There are always exceptions and one guy could make an awesome PvP hunter build using engineering nets or something. But still, it would be harder than for other classes. Listen, if you want to play a hunter, but all means do so. They'll have to balance it eventually.

lol i pretty much plan to no matter what... i just hope you guys will still let me play in your group

No way dude, only way to play is cookie cutter style. It's most effective.

timmay1113
2004-10-30, 04:51 PM
cookie cutter style? what is that

Grav
2004-10-30, 04:55 PM
The same thing everyone else who's in the know is using.

timmay1113
2004-10-30, 05:08 PM
say what??

Grav

Cookie cutter.. everyone's doing the same thing.

oh ok, thx. Well i dont know if i will be doing the same as a billion others but im going to play the hunter

ask_rabber
2004-10-30, 05:38 PM
Yeah, we caught that part. The cookie cutter part was me saying that a hunter wouldn't be allowed in our group, as it wouldn't be the most efficient way possible.

Grav

Hunters can be good for instances if they are on the high end of the level spectrum. Like if you were a 17 Hunter in RFC, that'd be okay.

timmay1113
2004-10-30, 05:47 PM
well i have been reading the forums, its just hard to get in groups once you get above like lvl 35-40 because the hunters dont do the dmg they should

Grav

Besides what I mentioned above, is there anything else you'd like to know about?

ask_rabber
2004-10-30, 06:11 PM
Yeah, I actually have 3 questions for you.

What is your name?
What is your quest?
What is your favorite color?

Didn't Hunter's have a binding shot of some kind? I seem to remember them having a slowing effect...

If you could do so, you could kite another person with relative ease, ESPECIALLY if you put on 'Aspect of the Cheetah'. A lot of the 'Magical' shots you can use are able to be used on the move, if I remember correctly as well. They might have been bugged though, as if you cast it in between regular shots, it never delayed any regular shots/etc...

Hunters can likely be a force in PvP, you just can't rely on people focusing on your pet...

Grav

Concussive shot is a 50% slow for three seconds.. that won't help too much, heh.

Wing clip is 50% for 10 secs (similar to hamstring) but Hunters shouldn't really be in melee range too often..

But I'm not trying to turn you off from it, timmay, maybe you can figure something out when talents are in.

I'm splitting this to make things easier to read.

Anything you want added?

Trying to think of stuff to put in.

How about power trends or kick ass builds people have been using in closed beta.

Just an idea.

I will use semi early CoH as an example. If I had known sooner people were building fire/ice tanks for burn at lvl18 I would have done it myself if they didn't nerf the shit out of it before I could get my tank to lvl18. Or maybe Caltrops and fire AoE's, it took me awhile to figure out most of the lvl50's were burn tanks and fire/dev blasters. Do you have any inside news or power builds you can comment on?

P.S. Some of us could give 2 shits if their build was cookie cutter. I want to kick ass in WoW and I don't care how I get there. (for your D2ers, I will build a hammerdin if I see hammerdins ripping the shit out of everything)

Grav

You want cookie cutter builds? Interesting. What classes in particular?

Warrior.

By the way, I particularly enjoyed the leveling part of your thread. It is definitely good information to know. I will definitely go back to it while I attempt to level my character. It's nice to know if you are in the right place for your current level. I know in the stress test I found the missions I was getting were supposedly too high for my level. Took me some time to find out which town I needed to be in to get quests that I could do. Thanks Grav ;) (MJ's quote isn't that far from the truth)
