Does anyone know what to do to fix bad sectors, and not using scan disk?

Yes, open MS DOS and type "MakeWindowsPerfect 1" without the quotes. Microsoft forgot to mention this feature to prevent your comp from crashing, but I guess they can't be blamed. After all, they tend to hand us high quality products like Access and Excel.

Ok, nevermind, I got this problem fixed after 12 hours of running scan disk, so its all good now.

In my experience, bad sectors grow. It is my suggestion that if you have a hard drive with bad sectors that you buy a new one and transfer the contents in the near future.

But you already knew that, right?

Yeah... or reformat.

Yeah... or reformat. Reformatting doesn't get rid of bad sectors, it just finds them and tells DOS/Windows not to use them.

Which is really just a band-aid solution if you have a gash out of one of the platters.

Well then I guess you'd just have to buy a new drive.
