Is it possible to make an item that shows a map of the world or current city?
EXAMPLE: when roaming the world, you want to know where a certain town is so you look at the map! But if you were in a city it would show the city map instead of the world map.
Also, it needs to show a location blip, or whatever, so the player knows where they are! Thanks for your input!
Sorry Blue, I forgot to put the Thread Icon before I posted!

Do you mean something like in the FF's, the maps that show as you are playing in the playing screen, or an item that you access and it brings up the map?
In both cases, I'd probably make pictures for each one, and just have it change when you need it to change.
I don't know, I've never come across anything like it.

I did this a year and half ago in an old thread, but that was using RM2k, so the screen dimensions are completely different.
Looks like it's demo time then. I'll build it sometime today, and post it either today or tomorrow depending on whether I have time or not.

Gonna double post here to bump the thread, and link to the demo:

After I read the post again, I see you wanted an ITEM to do this. Too bad, you get a map that's constantly on the screen.
This can be either: 1) Easily modified to be activated via item, or 2) left as is, or 3) I can do a MapItemDemo or something.

Need Translation! When I run the setup file, I get a bunch of Question marks. WHY??? Thanks for the help Bluecube.
Nevermind I figured it out. but how does upgrading a weapon come anywhere near a map system? I believe I am completely confused.

I think I copy/pasted the wrong one, for whatever reason (insanity/fact that it was 1:00 am when I did that/stupidity? YOU DECIDE)

Wow, that was a really big help. Thanks, but I think I'll leave it like that, because it seems much easier that having to go to your items, and checking. :D
