Well, here is another one of JAMES'S REVIEWS. Wooo. =P

Well, I work at a camp, and at camps you hear a wide variety of music. I came across the album Good People Who Love Bad News by Modest Mouse when I was washing dishes after a meal. I was unaware of this band, so I tuned my ears into the music.

It started off with a crazy harsh brass band playing for ten seconds. Interesting. Veeerry interesting. Then it turns to track two, known as The World at Large. This is a delerious little ditty, with violin, and interesting singing, both background and lead. Catchy. Im hooked so far, im not even paying attention to the dishes anymore. Food poisoning doesn't scare me. :P

Anyways, this band is crazy. The songs include alot of pretty guitar tunes, interesting synthisizers, and crazy brass tunes. An interesting mix, all around, I say.

Anywho, now I am addicted to this album. I love it, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to expand their horizon to good music.

Personal favorate tracks:

The World at Large (2)
Float On (3)
Ocean Breathes Salty (4)
Bukowski (8)
The View (10)

You can listen to small samples of this band HERE (http://ubl.artistdirect.com/store/artist/album/0,,2871149,00.html)

And you can listen to the full song of Float On ON THIS WEBSITE (http://ubl.artistdirect.com/music/artist/card/0,,568257,00.html?src=redirsearch&artist=Modest+Mouse)

OVERALL RATING: 9/10

Final Thought: This is a generally very good listen, with alot of replay value. It has its flaws, but what CD doesn't? I would highly recommend this CD.

I'd heard of these guys around winter last year during school. I'd heard good things about them so I decided to borrow a friends CD. I started listening to it, and after about 1 minute I was sitting there thinking "What the fuck is wrong with Calvin?" Needless to say, I didn't really feel it. While I have to applaud them for running a course far from mainstream music, it's just not my style. I gave them a second chance while channel surfing and came across "Float On". Better than before, but still not exactly the kind of music I'd listen to for any extended amount of time.
