Immortality

I was bored today at work and I started to think about immortality. How I would love it, how I would hate it. Many people would KILL for immortality. But when you think about it: you live forever, you can never feel the physical or mental anguish of death. You are immune to diseases that can cause death. That's something good. But: You see the ones you love die, you will see how our world is destroyed, you could end up in a state of mental anguish from the stress of how your life is, never tasting death, begging for it to end your cruel immortal life, so you can never see another loved one die while you stay young forever...

Any thoughts on immortality?

If I would have immortality with absolutely NO WAY of dying EVER, no thx, sticking around on this shithole forever is fucked up, especially if earth is nomore and you wander in space gasping for air for eternity.... If there would be a way to kill myself, that only I know of than YES absolutely.

If you were Immortal you could then later find out how to save your friends and cure diseases and help them live better or something. Or you could take over the world and cause pain and destruction *shrug* I for one would love to be Immortal~ The only way that would suck though if someone captured you and locked you up in like a cell where they would never let you out or something.

I figure it like this. You think it'll be good for a while, but after seeing your loved ones die, you start to wish for death. Then you find more and more love interests...and each passing century, you wish you could turn the clock back and just have been mortal...

Could you really deal with the fact that you are the most dangerous human being on the face of the planet? I wouldn't be able to. I would literally use my immortal powers to swim to the bottom of the ocean and bitch slap me some fish and I would discover the deepest parts of this and that. I would have eternity! w00t before I go insane. The relationship aspect is what makes it depressing :(

Nothing physical changes. You simply can't be killed, your wounds heal regularly, and you don't age at all.

If you're immortal, you'll also have to work for that amount of time, unless you were able to gain an extraordinary amount of money, but since you have no super powers, that's rather difficult.

You'd also have to find ways to conveniently "die" in the eyes of the government, or you'd have scientists trying to figure out HOW you're immortal...

errr anyway. It would be awesome. But what happens when the supposive "End of the world" comes around? Do you float around in space? That might get a little boring and might make you not want to be immortal. But guess what. Because evolution, scientists have concluded that humans will look as different then as we are now in comparison to the cave people a couple of million years ago. Invisibility? No Pain?

Simply put to me, if you were able to experience pain, but heal as a human would, but still not age and never die, then that doesn't that mean you have a 99% tolerance of all flames, lasers, acid, lava, drowning sensations? Like, you can burn off all your skin, but it will come back. You can freestyle in a pit of lava, and come out with nothing but nothing. You could be shot with lasers or drowned, and you would just feel the hole through your torso, or the sensation of, "Oh shit, I am drowning!"

I think immortality is a tool that should be used responsibly. You can work through your entire life and make something of yourself, mourn your lost loved ones because obviously, you have time to recover, and you can also solve mysteries! :-P

I think it would be fun because I could not worry about getting older, and see what the hell I can do to myself, and if I ever get bored, I'll sacrafice all my freedom and just go to the scientists so they can give me drugs, tests, whatever. What else can I do? I am so simple minded, thats all I can think of.
