This is a continuation from "Sober and now regretting" made by Ganga. If you have already posted your views, feel free to do so again.

I dont think that oral is sex. If you have oral sex, to me it means your still a virgin.

Oral is not sex. Having sexual intercourse (for lack of better words) is putting your penis into a girl's vagina. That is sexual intercourse, and is how you lose your virginity. Oral is not sex.

Yeah, real sex gives you child support. Oral sex gives you pleasure.

Well yes, because if oral is, then if a girl gives you a hand job, then it would be too

I wouldn't say it is "sex" per say...but it's definetly a sexual act.

Raziel

Who the hell cares? Of course it's not "sex", that term is reserved for sexual intercourse. It is a sexual act though, and engaging in it means a loss of virginity. Losing your virginity doesn't mean vaginal penetration, it means breaking the "seal of purity" on your sexual history. Once you've engaged in any form of sexual act, you are no longer a virgin. That's all there is to it.

It's like opening a bottle of Snapple. You may not drink the whole damn thing, but the bottle has still been opened, and as such, it's purity has been compromised.

So if a girl gives you a hand-job like I said before, its sexual, so you lose your virginity? No, same with oral sex.

Your analogy would work if your saying, if you start to have sex, but don't finished you still lose your viginity. You used 1 thing in your analogy, the one drink, and you are refering it to 2 things, sex, and oral.

Medieval Bob

His analogy likens the bottle to virginity and the drinking of it to sex.

I don't see it the same way, however.

If I have a bottle of Snapple, and I rub it with my hand, it is still a closed. The only way to make it an open bottle is to... open it. Bah.

I would say that your opinion on this is based upon your idea of what virginity is, but in all actuality, it's the other way around. Your definition of virginity is based upon what you believe will and won't take it away. Dictionary.com says that virginity can be lost by coitus or other genital contact. That's obviously what Raziel believes. It's apparant that many others who posted before him believe otherwise.

My personal view is that the only thing that inovkes a loss of virginity is coitus.

I feel that way too, I beleive losing your viginity can only be loss by the same way of making babies.

Heh, I don't think for a second oral sex consists of a loss of virginity, but others have different views. For that matter, I technically don't even consider having anal sex with a chick losing your virginity. For loose interpretation, the only way I would consider a sexual act an act of losing your virginity would be if there is the possibility of getting a female pregnant, without any outside tampering.

Yes, I know artificial insemination wouldn't consist of losing your virginity, which is what I meant from "without any outside tampering". Male's penis thrusting in a woman's vagina is a loss of virignity in my book.

Well, that's what I think. But my girlfriend refuses to let me even reason with her. Oh well, it's not like we need to do it; it's just a bonus.

I dated this weird girl in high school who felt that as long as her vagina was not penetrated in any way she was still "pure" and would go to her marriage bed a virgin. I had her in every way possible except the vagina. I felt that she was an idiot at the time but everyone hear has some valid points. I was getting blown long before I got laid and I still considered myself a virgin until that day. (January 30th 1983) :p

Oh and on a more on topic note, I don't think it is a loss of virginity.

The real question is, have you lost your virginity (as a chick) if you've been raped? I say definitely no, which depending on how you think, opens up the possibility of Jesus being an illegitmate child.

Acer
2004-04-26, 05:00 PM
That is a question I have asked myself... you are not the one chosing to lose your purity, so you as the person are pure, but you had sex. I say you are not a virgin, but still have the quality of a virgin(in the pure sense)

Na I would not consider oral a form of sex but still it is a half decent solution for teens who cant get hold of condoms due to suspicion. I wana oral with this uber hot skater chick at my school but every time we try and get together she brings one of her fagg goth friends...GAY

Titusfied
2004-04-26, 05:37 PM
Yes, you've lost your virginity, IMO, even if you are raped. Its not the purity, rather its the penis in her vagina aspect... The only thing controversial with rape, other than the obvious, is situations that involve abortion.

I believe it is a form of sex, maybe not sexual intercourse, but anything that provides sexual pleasure is a form of sex. even masturbation. Anyone agree?

Heh, isnt it funny that the word sex is implyied in the title. If it wasnt it could be some other form of oral, in that case we all know that oral is sex.

Titusfied
2004-04-26, 09:13 PM
Well, if they think they go to hell for having sex, I'm sure they don't have sex. As far as those people getting raped, I'm sure that would be an exception. They still would have lost their virginity, but it was just against their own will, so they probably get "redeemed" or what ever they want to call it...

RoboticSilence
2004-04-26, 09:31 PM
If it involves another person and makes you jizz, it's sex. In fact I even consider (self) masturbation to be sex.

Titusfied
2004-04-26, 09:48 PM
So you think hand jobs means loss of virginity?

Raziel
2004-04-26, 11:23 PM
Absolutely. Engaging in any form of sex constitutes a loss of sexual purity. The textbook definiton of "virginity" is "a state of purity" not "an unbroken hymen." To engage in any form of sexual contact with another human is to dissolve one's sexual purity.

I don't believe for a second that a girl that has had anal sex, has masturbated for her boyfriend with a cucumber, has engaged in fellatio upon a horse and has been shat on by a midget, but hasn't had sexual intercourse is still a virgin.

I don't say these things as some form of condescending finger-wavery. If you've engaged in sexual acts, you are no longer pure, therefore no longer a virgin.

If you've been raped, that's not the same thing. There was no lust or desire in the heart of the victim, therefore there is no loss of purity. A loss of purity is derived from the conscientious decision to engage in sexual acts with another human being.

So if a guy rubs a girls you know, then she lost her virginity I guess.... I dont agree, dont care what dictionary says... I mean ain't wasnt in the dictionary but now is, its up to the people to decide what a definition is.

Raziel
2004-04-27, 12:22 AM
It depends entirely upon what you deem "sexual acts". If anal sex is a "sexual act" to you, then it constitutes a loss of virginity. If rubbing up against a girl is a "sexual act" in your opinion, then it constitutes a loss of virginity. I don't consider two people dirty dancing in a nightclub a sexual act, therefore, there is no loss of virginity. My grandmother, however, would probably think differently.

I dont agree, dont care what dictionary says...its up to the people to decide what a definition is.

The standard definition of "virginity" is a "state of purity". An individual person decides for themselves how to implement a definition, but individual people do not decide what the definiton of a word is. You can apply "state of purity" however you want. If you don't consider anal sex a "sexual act" then, in your opinion, there is no loss of virginity. However, if anal sex is sexual to you, the there is most certainly a loss of virginity.

I mean ain't wasnt in the dictionary but now is

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. "Ain't" is a slang term that was recently added to the dictionary. It now has a set-in-stone definition. The term "virginity" already has a definiton. You can't just change the definition of the word to suit your personal needs. You can use the definiton however you wish, you can apply that definition in any way you see fit. But, you can't just say that the definiton of virginity is "hasn't had vaginal intercourse yet." The definiton of virginity is a "state of purity". If you consider a five-person gangbang with no vaginal penetration to not be a sexual act, then in your opinion, there is no loss of virginity. I, however, disagree with you, and would consider that to be a ridiculous opinion to have.

Acer
2004-04-27, 01:14 AM
I used that to point out definitions are by the people... I mean I even put a .... to seperate it for you

Raziel
2004-04-27, 01:51 AM
Yes, obviously the definition to a word is decided upon by the people, but it can't be manipulated by the people. Once a word has an officially accepted definition, you can't just go mutating that definition into whatever the hell you want. You can apply that definition however you want, but you can't alter it for your own purposes.

Medieval Bob

What we're actually arguing in this thread is actually just the meaning of virginity. If one were to use the denotative meaning of virginity, then a person loses his or her virginity by engaging in a sexual act. If one were to use a modern (or even not-so-modern) connotative meaning of virginity, then a virgin has different requirements.

It's really just a difference in view. It has nothing to do with manipulating the definition of a word.

Titusfied
2004-04-27, 11:07 AM
Just as many words, there are multiple meanings. For instance:

vir·gin ( P ) Pronunciation Key (vûrjn)
n.
A person who has not experienced sexual intercourse.

In my mind, sexual intercourse is a lot different than a sexual act, as you put it. You chose the loss of purity definition, I chose this one. Same word, different meanings, or contexts/interpretations for the meaning.

Sov messed up the title of the thread. I should have just created a new thread when I asked this question in Ganga's thread.

What it really should read is, "Is oral considered losing your virginity?" - of course oral is a form/type of sex.

Raziel, are you just defining a loss of virginity as anything as small as a handjob to make yourself feel like you're not a virgin?
