Hey guys! Anyone got this game yet? I got it the day it came out and I think it's fucking awesome!
What's your favorite game mode/map?
Mind would have to be assault/robot factory :)
I havent got the $$ for it yet, but played the demo... it is nothing like the previous UTs IMO

It's a lot like the original UT beefed up instead of the bastard child 2k3. 2k3 almost killed the clan I play in, but we're all playing 2k4.
Oh yeah, favourite map/mode.
ONS-RedPlanet Vehicle Invasion, using the Improved Vehicle Arena mutator to replace all vehicles with Leviathans :D

Dude, omg I need to try that mutator at the lan party this weekend! rofl
And yes... the fucking leviathan is rigged... 8 people stocked with it is like unstoppable

Actually, they can be easy to take out if the bots aren't using them. It just takes a bit of teamwork. A combined attack of a couple raptors and one or two people on foot with an avril can take out a deployed one pretty easily.

Well getting run over repeated by it isn't exactly fun :P And mostly if you're pubbing there's next to no team work in existence

I don't play on pubs. I just know a lot of active private servers that the clans let us use.

I just bought it to play at a LAN party this weekend, and it's awesome. I loved the laser tank assault map, and especially the mothership assault map, though I wish I had a stick for the space part (didn't take to LAN party, don't know if stick controls are any good), and the turrets on the inside for the last part are total BS. The various onslaught maps that I played were all interesting, though they don't seem to be quite as unique as some of the assault maps. Mutant game mode, though it sounded good on paper, in reality was just confusing, and at one round a map, the map change took about 1/5 of the time for the map.

Onslaught owns completely when played at LAN parties. Charging nodes with the Levathian tank and a large amount of gunners is great fun. Assault is really, fun, too. I like that snow level with the ion tank, whatever it's called. It's especially fun to drive the blasted thing.

The thing about Onslaught is that while it's great fun, it's always the same. It just happens on different terrain. The same strategies always work, and everyone whores the same vehicles. Assault is great because every map is truely unique. In this one, you have to recover these missiles on a moving convoy while on foot. In another, you're trying to steal a tank prototype (I think), and you get to actually drive and use the tank in the process; then there's the mothership one with the space combat.

I have been playing Assault in pub games since the release. You are right, it is very hard to find people that know how to play and can somewhat work together. When I do find them though it makes the experience so much better. Fav map is right now is Convoy.

AS-Junkyard's where it's at and there's a couple "subliminal" messages on that map.
