Virus...

i opened a *.jpg attachement the other night, and since then my pc freezes at the desktop screen. occasionally it doesn't freeze at first. i tried installing norton, but the install halted halfway through.

q1: is it possible to get a virus or keylogger, etc. from a jpg file?

q2: anyone know how i can fix this problem?

I have no clue. What was the .jpg filename? There is some virus out now that formats the HD :eek: Are you sure it wasn't like a ***.jpg.exe file?

1: No, you can't get a virus from a jpeg, gif or bitmap. Like Wiccan said, it might have been something like lesbo.jpg.exe. Always make sure you can see the whole filename.
If you want it examined, you can send it to me.

First get your file
Get the server.exe file
Bind the two together

Tada! You have a .jpg that loads the .exe in addition to the .jpg. Its possible.. But unlikely
