A good way to gain strenght is to work combat skills like wrestling and mace fighting. So find a dummy in town usually near the bank. Left click it to find the name "Dirthe" This dummy has advanced AI so it walks around slowly. Just attack it and you will gain strength. Dont worry about losing any items cause the dummy cant hit you back.
