View Full Version : Where will the world be in 200 years?

Well have 1000x the ammount of weapons(which are also 100x more powerful and destructive than today's) that we have at this time. We'll use these weapons to destroy the world. A utopian society is a dream that we'll NEVER even come close to.

In 200 years everything will be instant.
In 2000 years everyone will be dead.
im gonna say are entire race will be wiped out by that point, and i dont think we will have the means of technology to take us to a inhabitable planet, seeing how the closest possible one is like 10 light years away.
I have more faith in the human race than that. Well, in the way that they will survive. They'd probably end up killing 90% of the population though.

one can hope...but thats it
Without life there is no death.
Without death there is no life.
This is how life work.
We are good at killing each other and we always get better.
It is how we evolve.
We can turn a cure into a weapon in no time and that weapon will be able to do more damage then the cure could ever hope to save.
Yet we cannot take a weapon and transform it to save more the 1/10 the life it can destroy.(If not less)
We are not builder we are destroyer.
We will be there in 200 with much more efficient way to destroy.
I beleive one day we no longer will be called human. We will be called Destroyers Of Worlds.

Let's see, compound freon gas makes it possible to alter the martian atmosphere in about a hundred years, freeing oxygen that can be sustained by something similar to our geosphere. I'd have to expect about 50 years before we actually send missions like this to Mars though, so we'll have to wait and see.
What else? Hmm, I'm sure we will have found out the truth about dark matter, and why the glaxies of the universe move away from each other with an accelerated speed. Looking back at the past evolution of earth, where we've gone from Chinese rapid fire crossbows in the 11th century, to sub-machineguns 10 centuries later, or Greek flamethrowers before christ to... Modern flamethrowers without much of a difference, I don't think our technological evolution might be so exponential as we think.
We'll most definitely be out of raffined, carbonized fuel in about 70 years, leading to a requirement of finding better sources of energy. Solar power is a waste of power so far, so it could be developed greatly. Fusion or singularity related energy would be ideal, but of course, lots of energy can be used to develop horrendous weapons of mass destruction.
Considering roughly 66.8 milligrams of mass (6.7*10^-5 kg) gives slightly more than the equivalent power of what an average, modern nuclear reactor produces in an entire year, I'm sure you can imagine what the future might hold at bay for us. On top of this, back in 2001, the entire world consumed a total energy equivalent to roughly 553 kilograms of mass. Care to sacrifice your car to power the entire world for 2-3 years of time?

In 200 years I think we will still be alive and kicking it. I mean if you see some of the early outer limits episodes, you could notice that alot of the stuff considered science fiction back than, is science today. I mean we have robots moving, walking talkings. I'm sure the pentogan had many hidden things we never knew about. In time techonolgy will take us down. psst..i might get killed for telling you this...but Florida is made out of 93% Uranium, and Plutonium...Oh, and there are over 21 secret labs that control over 10,000 warheads! not:)
The science fiction of yesterday is the science fact today. As will the science fiction of today be the science fact tomorrow. Just look at the stories. We'll probably be living amongst the stars, colonizing other planets, and interacting with other stellar species.
Now for a bit of querky wierdness I remember hearing somewhere....
"Humans were put on this earth by aliens! And why?! We were too powerful! Long long ago humans were the dominant species in the universe! We could shift stars and move galaxies with our minds! We were tyranical, and destroyed and destroyed. The aliens finally defeated us, and engineered us to be stupid, then put us here. Now, we must awake, and take what is ours!"
Now that fella probably had too much of that thar homemade moonshine, but who am I to judge crazies.
Btw, if you dont know, the concept of moving things with your thoughts is called "Tibetin Tulpa", not psychokenisis, etc. It's supposedly possible, and is actually the highest achievable artform possible. Hell if I know, but it sure would be interesting to be able to bring thoughts to life. I've heard someone has been able to do it, but no one has proof.
As for the world in 200 years, we'll probably have colonized several planets in our system, and be exploring out and around it. As for wars, sure there will be more, that's inevitable. Question is, the "true power" behind all the governments, all the presidents, all the world leaders, are supposedly making sure wars happen, but also making sure that we all dont die, and most certainly they don't either. *shrug*
Btw, the thing about the "true power" is supposed to be a group of humans who are superior, and control the rest of the humans from behind the scenes, and pull all the strings. If its true, then all the people you see on the news or hear about don't make the decisions. Or atleast not the important ones.

Sovereign
2003-11-30, 04:59 PM
Ever heard of a population curve? As more people are born, food runs low. Eventually there wont be enough food, so people will die, that will bring the human pop down. Since there are less people, food pop will grow. and itll keep cycleing. I dont think that over population will be a problem that casuses extinction, but it will is a bad and serious issue that we have to deal with today.
Narcissa
2003-11-30, 05:06 PM
Okay, good, look in nature.. when a population reaches its limit ( that is in resources ) most will die.. and the few left feed the new growth. its a cycle.. as you said... but....our case its pretty extreme tho.. land will be shrinking... it depends on how fast the polar ice caps melt.. and if/when the population rises and falls we will be rebuilding from scratch again.. and by the time we get into the state we are in now again we may have evolved? .. therefore not really human..

That may not actually happen. Mars has very little atmosphere. Wed have to pump it up wiht ozone to make at atmosphere. Then the long ass trip to get there... i dont think 200 years will be a time where this is absolutely required for the human race.
I personally vouch for overly horny rabbit, instead of virus.

2003-12-01, 12:51 PM
Its the same thing.....massive population outburst. I think were more like the rabit though....we dont multiply exponentially every time we reproduce.
Earth's estimated capacity for human life is supposed to be around 30 billion. Personally I think human civilization will expand into much much smaller groups, and live in space. Much like small colonies, or individual groups. BIg problem with earth is all the wars and fighting, that's mainly cause there's too many of us, and too many that are too different.
The human race is starting to hit a population plateau soon just as many people will be dying of starvation as of those being born.
