I was thinking about possibly people getting an 'award' or 'points' for reffering people to this site. Possibly getting the 'Member of the Month' haha. Sounds dorky but it may bring more activity from real users to the fourms.

Wont work, go check who the top refferer is. Then look at the names he referred. People will just make account after account and put themselves are the referer.

Look at !K_A!. I highly doubt that people just regestered the names slaynish1, slaynish2 etc.....

Now look at ask_rabber. The raab #1 etc...

Chances are people will do that. Create bs accounts just to get refferals so that they can "spiffy" up their title.

Where holding a contest at my site with this same purpose. Anyone that refers 5 members or more and they post 15 post or more with-in a 30 day period. They get 2000 CP point rewarded to them. Which they can use at out store to buy items, such as TV tuners, one year free web hosting, ext....

Yeah, this just wouldn't work. If I really wanted, I would just refer a bunch of members on difference computers, post 15 times, then never touch it again. That contest has too many leak in it. That is probably how you are getting so many hits. Its the same person every 1,000...

And yes, it is definitely very easy to get on different IPs and do this. Finding out people that are cheating this would or at least could be very difficult. I don't like the idea.

Not proxy detector, IP tracer :) but yes it does just that.
