Are any of those favorites/least favorites from any Enix games?

Oh and about Magus as your favorite character, you put him as just (chrono trigger) it should be (chrono trigger/chrono cross) since he is a playable character in chrono cross... not the same name but he is the same person.

Raziel

No, Magus isn't a playable character in CC. Janus might be one of the characters. It's rumored that Guile is the alternate reality version of Janus (Guile being the lighter side and Magus being the darker side) but there is no proof of it. When I say "Magus" I mean the dark wizard from CT.

And no, none of the games on my list are Enix games. The only games of theirs that I played extensively were Actraiser 1 and 2, The 7th Saga and Illusion of Gaia. There was nothing I liked or disliked more about those games than the games I have listed, so I didn't include them.

Well thats an interesting theory any reason why ? (i havnt played CC)

Well, it's a minor spoiler, but if you really want to know why...

Towards the end of CC, Kid recieves a letter from one of the characters from CT explaining a bunch of plot elements, but also creating a ton of other questions in the process. At the end of the letter, the author says something like "I know you'll be safe because 'He' is there to protect you. P.S. Janus, if you let anything happen to her, I'll kick your ass."

That little "P.S." suggests that one of the characters in the game is actually an alternate-future version of Janus. The two big possibilities are that it's either Serge or Guile. Serge, because the reference seems a little too important for it to be any of the side characters. Guile, because it would more logically fit with the story of the game. Either way, it's not Magus, it's a grown up version of Janus, only if he took a different path than the one that lead to him becoming Magus. Did that make any sense?

Kuja

Even tho like i said i havnt played CC it seem to be making sense :)

Raziel
2003-10-26, 09:44 PM
Yeah, well shit I forgot to explain who Serge and Guile are.

Serge is the main character. Pretty self-explanatory. Guile is one of the other playable characters, but he's not one that you are required to recruit. In fact, on your first trip through the game, you have to pick between him, a rock star named Nikki and a pansy-ass fencer named Pierre.

I don't know why but both times I played the game I ended up picking Pierre..

Originally, Guile was actually supposed to be Magus in disguise. In Radical Dreamers, he was. They cut that out because he doesn't have enough character development in CC.

!King_Amazon!

He is right there, in Radical Dreamers Guile was in fact Magus in disguise.

Raziel
2003-10-26, 11:32 PM
I've heard people say that, but personally I think it would have ben pretty retarded to have Magus as Guile. I prefer the idea of him being an alternate reality version of Magus. Like the other side of the Janus coin.

!King_Amazon!
2003-10-26, 11:35 PM
Well in radical dreamers guile was magus in disguise, you must accept this.

Rurouni Storm
2003-10-27, 08:20 AM
He was also with you most of the game and was involved in the plot.

The Guile from CC didn't seem at all like Janus. I like Raz's theory there.

Here's a link to a picture of Guile. It's not really high-quality, but it gets the job done. I honestly can't tell if he's wearing the Amulet, but I don't recall it being mentioned in the game.

That's a pretty broad statement. There's a metric ton of stuff that you didn't list, dude.

Hmmmmmm..... Good point. I'm manily FF. I did play FF3-6, just never finished them. The only one I did kinda like is the one where you end up on a pirate ship after playing for like 30 minutes. The other one I really hated was the one involving: your a knight, you kill a monster, its a summon and you killed some girls mother.

The other one I kinda liked was where ou meat a treasure hunter and you have to fight off people with Moogles.

Raziel

The mother-killing knight was FF4, the pirate ship was FF5 and the moogle battle was FF6.

Well, unless you know Japanese I wouldn't imagine that you'd remember any of FF3.

Rurouni Storm

I'll actually explain some of them.

Final Fantasy Game: FF6

A just like how the story is done, every character plays a part and their reasons for coming with you are explained well. Plus, it has Kefka.

Non-Final Fantasy Game: Suikoden 2

One of the most complex dark stories ever told. Plus, it's a neat combination of RPG and strategy game.

Character: Viktor (Suikoden 2)

He was just badass in general. Always drunk and walking around with a chip on his shoulder, yet still reliable and quite intelligent. Plus, he had a talking sword that he always argued with. Shame he didn't show up in part 3.

Side-Character: Lacan (Xenogears)
Villain: Grahf (Xenogears)

Reasons would be spoilers.

Boss: Jowy (Suikoden II)

Well, more for the same reasons I like Grahf. Jowy starts the game as your best friend, but slowly becomes an enemy. You are drawn into conflict with him even though he also believes he is helping the kingdom in his own way.

Enemy: Tonberry

The buggers can really be a pain in your side in some of the FFs.

Weapon: Lionheart (FF8)

I have to agree. Gunblades are just cool.

Town: Tie - Solaris (Xenogears)/Broken Hills (Fallout 2)
Dungeon:Vault 15 (sort of a dungeon)
FMV: The Highwind's transformation in FF7
Mini-Game: Tetra Master (FF9)

Final Fantasy Game: FF8 (but I don't hate it)
Non-Final Fantasy Game: Silent Hill 2
Character: Cecil
Side-Character: Baigan (FF4)

Boss: Chameleon Man (Wild Arms 3. Oh joy, a boss who's every second move instant kills your entire party!)

Also, I don't remember exactly what it is, but FF music is played during the Culex fight. I always thought that was hilarious.

Grr... Umaro is l337.

By the way, the default names in FF5 are gay.

The rule variations, the minimal number of card spaces, the retarded "combo" system. I just hated everything about it. Tetra Master was far better.

Butz.. Galuf... come on.

Actually, in the American version, his default name is Bartz.

That would be Saga Frontier then. I HATE that game.

I've heard from a lot of people that the second one was exponentially better.

After playing FFVII, FVIII, and FFIX, I couldn't play old school games like that. I don't know why. I'm not graphics crazy, I just didn't like the way the mountains were flat. I did like the Pirate ship one.....still can't remember, even though Raziel told me. I just didn't know where to go once I got on it. The map was to large and nobody told me which direction to go in.

Yeah but Jebus, even in FFVII they told where Kalm or the Temple of the Ancients was. Ya know, go south or west and stuff like that.

Raziel
2003-10-31, 11:06 PM
Well, it's nice to have some provided direction. I just finished FF1, and they don't give you Clue #1 as to where the fuck you're supposed to go next. It's the only game I've ever played where I had the Player's Guide next to me the entire time. Getting lost for over an hour in the goddamned Terra Cave was just too much for my low patience reserves to handle.

You could pretty much play through FF1 in any order you want.

Raziel
2003-10-31, 11:35 PM
Yeah, but there is a severly warped difficulty slope if you don't do it in the correct order. Trying to beat the Warmech at level 12 isn't something I would consider particularly easy.

Garland appeared in two Final Fantasy games. FF1 and 9. In fact, it's rumored that they are actually the same character, considering that the FF9 Garland mentions at some point in his past he tried to "rule the world by force," and it apparently didn't work.

Hmm.

Favorites:

Final Fantasy VII - my all time favorite~~~!!!
Xenogears - except for some Evangelion-esque chara designs,
some Gundam allusions, and a whole lot of head-
numbing text play, it is by far my favorite mecha
RPG aside from the Super Robot Taisen series.
Suikoden 1 & 2 - I never really did escape with 6 characters
alive after that confrontation with that evil mist/
zombie dragon infesting your would-be HQ in 1 and
ditto with Abomination in the 2nd, but it was still
worth it. The runes, combined rune attacks, and
Unite attacks were all awesome, same goes for
hunting for all those objects in order for you
to unlock secrets and complete the games'
many mini games-cum-chores.
Final Fantasy Tactics - this has gotten me addicted up to the
very end. And of course, Cloud Strife was
cameo-ing. Who would be ABLE to RESIST
that?!
Saiyuki - Journey West (Koei) - having finished this baby at
only Level 41 was no mean feat, I was actually
DESPERATE I won't be able to finish it, but I
persevered and did it. Whew. And its FF Tactics
gameplay only added too much fun. I absolutely
HATE the end boss.
Valkyrie Profile - it's really cool. The countdown was
wracking and adds much to the tension, but
seeing Nibelung Valesti string its many hits into
enemies time and again makes my heart weep
with gladness through it all.
Final Fantasy IX - what can I say?! I'm a Garnet fan. :)
She MUST appear in KH2. MUST~~~!!!

Least Favorites:

Final Fantasy VIII - ugh. The story was cool and it was
futuristic and all that crap, but I never
had any problems going through this game
unlike its predecessor. It was way TOO
easy...
Chrono Cross - I must admit I like this game, and its Element
system, but the world is hideously small to
explore all I want. The whole time I was
bumming around before fighting Lavos, I felt
like a caged animal. The frigging overworld was
just TOO small.
Tales of Destiny - after those island-things went up the sky,
I never was able to get pass this ridiculously
hard maze. DAMN~~~!!! Just when I had
Stahn memorize ALL his Sacred Skills...TT_TT
Beyond the Beyond - >_____< this is even worse than
having Tyrant crash into your birthday
party disguising himself as Barney. No,
no, NO~~~!!! I actually found myself
enjoying THIS one before Suikoden 1
came along and saved me from the
abyss...
Most Anime-to-Video Game hardware/games - they play like
crap, can't raise a candle to the
terrific anime they were based on, and
give us more calluses and headaches
trying to figure out how the hell
Ryouga did the Shichihokuudan.
