Zelaron Video Game Melee Tournament Bracket!!!

Yes, you heard correctly! The time has finally come! The unveiling of the very first Zelaron Melee Tournament Bracket has arrived!!! This is for the Video Game Genre aspect of Character Battles this time around. Who will win? Only you can decide.

Now that you can see what match-ups are awaiting to take place, you can begin to gather information on your favorite character(s) as you see fit, but remember, each battle will be posted by Raziel himself, and no one else, unless he instructs either me or Shinto to do so.

So, sit back, relax, read the Rules for each Battle, and once you see the battle posted, feel free to post away, and remember, time is of the essence, for only one (1) 24 hour time slot will be alotted per Battle, unless extraneous circumstances happen to arrive.

So, without further ado, I present the Battle Bracket for the viewing enjoyment of the Zelaron community!!!!

All results from the Video Game Melee tournament will be posted here for public viewing. I will create a new thread for each individual match-up, so as to avoid spill-over from previous battles. Every 24 hours, a new thread will be opened, and an old thread will be closed. Come out swinging!!

Let's all have a round of applause for our combatants, and give a goodbye wave to the Defender of the Mushroom Kingdom! He probably has some Goombas he should be stomping anyway!

With a single bead of sweat running down his jaw, the Stealth Assassin, Rikimaru calmly skulks away from the body of his fallen foe, Solid Snake. Backing into the darkness, he disappears, preparing himself for his call back into the arena...

Battle #3 is finally at an end! Swords clashed, magic was cast, blood was shed! But, as always, in the end only one could be left standing.

Cloud Strife!!!

The Ultima Weapon has been sheathed, the materia has been cooled down and the hair has been re-gelled. With a fresh victory in his pocket, Cloud sits down for a well-deserved breather. Who will his next opponent be? We'll find out soon enough...

Well, after much trial and tribulation, the curtain has been dropped on Zelaron Melee Battle #4! The dust has begun to settle, and through the clouds of smoke and sifting debris, only one short, stocky frame is seen standing!

The winner, decided by Titus and myself (Shinto has taken approximately three days, and has yet to respond) is...

Pocketing his yo-yo, and slinging his Gutsy Bat over his shoulder, the psychokinetic savior of Eagleland shakes his opponent's battered hand and heads back home for a good nap...and a cookie...

Zelaron Battle #5 has come to an end! This has probably been the most staggeringly violent match of the tournament. If this is a sign of things to come, then the future looks particularly bright for Zelaron Melee!!

Well, after much deliberation, Battle #6 has come to a close. This was an extremely difficult match for me to judge, and I sincerely apoligize for the delay. So, without further ado...

Struggling away from the combat zone, a heavily bloodied Dante wraps his wounds, hitches in a deep breath of fesh air and tosses one final taunt at his unconscious foe. The devil-slayer promises himself a well-deserved rest, becauase he'll need all the energy he can muster before long...

Zelaron Melee Battle #7 has finally ended!! There wasn't much activity during this battle, so Titus, Shinto and myself had to call it as we saw it. Please take note that all three decisions were made much earlier today. I just didn't have quite enough time to take care of closing the battle or posting the results. But, enough with my excuses! On to the decision!

Removing his face-plate, and downing his anti-psychotic medication, Grey Fox's image disappears from sight as he activates his cloak. It was an arduous battle, and one that The Ninja will most likely not easily forget. But, for the time being, there is rest to be found, for another battle shortly awaits...

Zelaron Melee Battle #9 has finally met its' end! The votes are in, and let me tell you, this was a tough battle to judge. I think that from here on out I'll post the reasons for my decisions, and the other judges are welcome (and encouraged) to do the same.

Seymour Omnis!!!

Glancing down at his fallen opponent, the steadfast Seymour reaches into his pocket for his trusty comb. He'll be spending the next several hours gelling that outrageous mane into it's gravity-defying shape. Or at least until he's called back into action...

Zelaron Melee Battle #10 has finally keeled over and died! It was definitely more of a "tea party" than a bloodfest, but there must be a winner decided upon anyway. And after I went to all of the trouble of trying to create a kickass arena...*sigh*

The undisputed (and I mean literally undisputed. No one argued for his opponent) winner is...

Sigma!!!

With a wicked grin, the android psychopath sheaths his beam sabre, tosses his trusty dog a scooby snack (or whatever the hell you feed a robot dog) and exits the arena. Will his collected demeanor carry over into his next battle? Wait, and find out...

Battle #11 is finally over! The ground is charred with spent mana, and blood soaks into the air itself after the ferocity of this bout! Beyond the settling dust, one lone figure can be seen standing over his vanquished foe...

Running his bloodsoaked fingers through his white mane, the demonic sorcerer mounts his Silver Dragon and lifts off into the sky. God only knows what horrors he will partake in between now and his next bout...

Battle #12 has met it's end!! The walls are streaked with gore, and spent bullets litter the floor. One woman lies bleeding on the concrete while the other revels silently in her victory.

Joining her peer, Rikimaru, in the winner's circle, the crafty ninja duo slinks into the darkness to plot their individual paths to victory. Will the final duel be between these masters of the shadows? Only time will tell...

Battle #13 has been brought to an end! The hideous cackle of evil insanity reverberates throughout the night air, and one blood drenched from stands victorious over his fallen victim.

The scythe-wielding madman licks the blood from his lips and grins down at the fallen Sephiroth. Striding away from the crater caused by the final blows of their apocalyptic match, the arcane tyrant chants three almost unintelligible words, and vanishes in a cloud of black mist. Will more fall to his blade, or will a hero vanquish him further down the line? Time will tell...

Battle #14 has come to a close! Smoking debris litters the floor and one menacing figure is seen standing above the corpse of his defeated opponent.

Fulgore!!!

Gathering up the last soggy remains of his frozen opponent's "body," the murderous cyborg tosses Bad Mr. Frosty's remains out of the ruptured space vessel to drift eternally in the cold expanse of the cosmos. Fulgore moves to the nearest corner, locks his joints, and powers down for a well-deserved recharge. The killer robot will be called back into the fray before long, but will he survive?

Battle #15 has finally ended! The walls of the Flash Column are torn and charred from the intensity of this battle. One of our combatants have managed to survive.

The lightning-quick hedgehog flashes a smile at his fallen enemy, and in the blink of an eye, bursts out of the arena and heads into the locker room for a quick breather. He will be summoned again soon enough...

The Zelaron Melee preliminary battles are finally over!!! Battle #16 has been closed, and our final entrant into the 2nd round has been judged.

The soul devourer's slain former master lies in apool of his own stagnating blood. The eyes of the ruined demon flash with white-hot light as he retracts the Soul Reaver and departs from the body of his sworn enemy. Will more fall victim to the spirit-hungry energies of the wraith blade? Only time will tell...

Zelaron Melee Round 2 has begun, and Battle #17 is at an end! The fight raged for many a day, but as is the habit with these things, only one of our combatants has emerged victorious!

X wipes the grime and blood off of his armor, and makes his way toward the exit. He has survived Round 2, but will Round 3 be so kind? We'll find out soon enough...

Clearing his second match in a row, the wily half-breed holsters his pistols and walks casually away from the body of his fallen enemy. Will there be a future opponent capable of besting the devilman? Or will the demonic warrior be the last creature standing? Time, and your participation, will tell...

Battle #20 has finally come to an end!! The charred remains of one of our two combatants can be seen smoldering in a blackened heap in the middle of the battlefield. Over it, stands the figure of our relieved victor.

With two foes blasted to pieces, the interstellar bounty hunter unclasps her helmet, jumps into her gunship and rockets into the sky. Running his hand over his spit-polished chrome dome, the ultramaniacal android leaves the burning wreckage of the Funhouse, and his opponent, behind. He has outmaneuvered two opponents thus far. How much farther can the villain take it? Time shall tell...

Relishing in the glory of two conquered souls, the vicious spellmaster straddles his trusty silver dragon and tosses a grin at his fallen opponent. Riding off into the sky, he prepares himself for his next battle. Will the vile cogs of his devilish mind be capable of besting a third foe, or will fate frown upon this destroyer of worlds? Only time will tell...

Battle #23 has finally ended! One more victory and one more loss have been tallied to the scoreboard, and a hush falls over the crowd as the drumroll begins...

Magus, the wretched sorcerer re-adjusts his gloves, and wipes the sweat from his brow. Looking down upon the battered remains of the once fearsome Fulgore, the wizard can't help but laugh triumpahntly. With two vanquished enemies scratched into his name, the arcane master strides from the battlefield, cleaning his scythe as he goes. Will his next battle find him in the same victorious state, or will he suffer the same fate as those he bested before? Time, and your participation, will tell...

Battle #23 has finally ended! The wind blows harshly, kicking up a cloud of thick dust and obscuring the lone figure standing above his fallen enemy. The dust settles, and we can now clearly see the single victor.

The soul-devourer stands above the broken hedgehog, content with his victory. De-activating the wraith blade, the ghostly assassin walks away from his fallen enemy, and as he strides, his form disintegrates as he shifts back into the Spectral Realm and out of sight. Raziel has now feasted upon the souls of two of his mortal opponents. Will there be more, or shall the time-spanned vagabond find himself banished from the battlefield? We will learn soon enough...

Battle #24 is officially over!!! The war was waged, and for many a day (damn near two weeks, I think) our combatants fought vailantly. The battlefield lies in ruins, and one badly beaten figure is slouched over his fallen enemy.

The battered mercenary rests his aching body on the nearest patch of dry earth and falls immediately to sleep. His wounds and bruises will certainly heal before his next encounter, but will he be prepared to face his future enemy mentally? Stay tuned, the war is nearly over!!!

As the Lost Warehouse crumbles around her, the battle-worn bounty hunter uses her Grappling Beam to pull herself from the wreckage and into the open air. Upon landing, she calls her Gunship to her and boards, leaving the violent tremors to devour the battleground. She's proven herself worthy of three opponents. Does she have enough left for four?

Battle #26 has finally come to an end! After a long, drawn-out battle, a victor has emerged!

Samus stands atop the now-demolished pile of rubble that once was the Hylian Ruins. The swamp behemoths have receded into the murky depths of the abyssal bog, and as the last of their scaled brood sinksbelow the surface, the bounty hunter breathes a sigh of relief. One more battle is now behind her, but the worst is yet to come. Does she have the fortitude to survive another encounter, or will she fall prey to her next opponent?

Staring down at the body of his most vicious opponent thus far, the soul-devourer retracts his wraith blade. As he looks for an exit, the maddening foces inhabiting the Cathedral rise to a crescendo, and the ancient stone walls begin to cave inwards, folding together, as though the entire structure is devouring itself. As the edifice erodes, Raziel spies a route through the insanity, and escapes the collapsing behemoth.

There is but one battle left in this exhausting trial. Who will be the victor?
