I'd love to contribute, but I haven't read any of the past history in the Dragonlance story. All I've read is after the Raistlin, Tanis, Tasslehoff, etc group were young.

Thank you , Mr. Katana. I went to my first post and deleted everything that I had said about my company. I only have the pictures up in order to get feedback from all people about the artwork, be it positive or negative like Sovereign, every feedback is greatly appreciated. Is this okay with you, Mr. Katana?

Hey Zeal311, a pleasure to meet you. I'm really happy that you liked the Bennett character sketch. Thanks also for the feedback on Magius, greatly appreciated. What are your thoughts on the character, Lord Oswal, High Warrior of the Solamnic knights during the time of Huma?

Lord Oswal has that old and wise thing goin on. lookin cool. that hedge knight guy looks a little too unorigional in my opinion. and now that i look at it magius lips look a little odd and his cheekbones a little high. his clothes and staff are cool though. maybe you could make the end of his staff a little bigger and bolder to make it stand out a little bit though. just my opinion and i know nothing about art.

Hey Raistlin, How are you doing? Superstar comic book artist Mike S. Miller, my Art Director did the character sketches, I wish that I could draw like that but my stick figures are horrible, lol. Legend of Huma will be the first Dragonlance novel that we tackle. We are getting feedbacks from all fans and at the same time building a relationship so that when we start Chronicles after the Legend of Huma it will be easier for us to work together and even better yet when we move on to Legends and so forth. The Legend of Huma comic book comes out January 2004, so it is important to start asking your comic book retailer to get it for you starting in November.

Hi Zeal311, I hope that you had a great weekend and that your Monday is going well so far. I'm really happy that you liked Lord Oswal :) I'm not really what to say about Ser Lyonel, but that is how he is described in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. Have you ever read them, if you ever get a chance check them out, they are excellent books A Game of Thrones is the first book and then A Clash of Kings, and A Storm of Swords.
The lips of Magius, it could be because it's not colored yet, what do you think? High cheekbones, you mean it's too much like that of an elf, is that what you meant? I see what you mean about the end of the staff, very good points, my friend. Your opinion is greatly appreciated :)

Looks good.

I have a question, however. If I were to read any of these comics concerning Huma, I would of course want to read the books with him. So, what books would you reccommend with Huma?

Also, I would like to ask everyone what books they would reccomend me reading. My favorite characters are Raistlin, Caramon, Dalamar, and Paladine as Fizban.

I've read:
The Soulforge
Brothers in Arms
Dragons of Autumn Twilight
Dragons of Winter Night
Dragons of Spring Dawning
Dragons of Summer Flame
Time of the Twins
War of the Twins
Test of the Twins
The Second Generation
Dragons of a Fallen Sun
Dragons of a Lost Star
Dragons of a Vanished Moon

And I've just started the Preludes Trilogy:
Darkness and Light
Kendermore
Brothers Majere

I will likely follow this with Preludes II Trilogy:
Riverwind the Plainsman
Flint the King
Tanis, the Shadow Years

What should be on my "To Read" list?

The_Khan

Personally, I think Rennard has girly looking legs... For his age, he looks like the old, thinned out look should be more cut than feminine. Now that I'm looking back at Bennett, I'd have to say the same for him as Rennard.

Magius on the other hand, has very fitting proportins. He doesn't appear to have the bad-ass image of the others, so he is fine as is. :)

Baratheon looks great. Maybe a little too much shine on his armor though. Maybe some blood stains or a little rougher armor would suit him better. He looks as though he is more of a warrior/knight of show than valor or whatever...

The Minatour's muscles could use more better detail.

Randuin
2003-10-06, 09:50 PM
Looks VERY nice... Although this would fit better in a general traditional art section would it not? :) Sturm's legs need more detailing... But looks good nevertheless

Titusfied

Yeah, well it was in Autumn Twilight, so I figured this Forum did it more justice.

If there was a General Art Forum, I'd put it there, but there isn't... :(

I was thinking General Media, but this was more fitting in my mind.

They look pretty nice, but is there any type of background we need to understand these pictures, because as of right now, they just appear to be randomly drawn Medieval Time Themes.

Oh, and try not to double post. Put all your thoughts into one post, and if you can't just use the edit button, located on top of your avatar next to the quote button. :)

The_Khan

Hi Titusfied, I'm really happy that you like the pics. The ones that you see with individual characters are simply sketches, no backgrounds, their purpose is solely to get feedback from Dragonlance fans or anyone else who has an idea, suggestion, or even a thought about the character. The comic book page is just a pencil and is still in production and not finished yet, I just wanted to give a sneek peek ;) Thank you for the advice on the double post.

Very nice work. Besides, if I get some input, I might consider doing just that; starting a traditional art section on Zelaron as well, but having this sole thread inside for starters wouldn't be a good thing.

How many of you guys actually draw things, just for fun as an aspiring artist, or professionally?

Zeal311:
I'm happy that you like what you see. No, it's not classified. The Legend of Huma is a novel from the Dragonlance that we are adapting into comic book, it is about knights, dragons; chromatic (bad dragons) vs metallic (good dragons), and renegade mages. A great war is raging at the beginning of the book and it is about to come down to the final showdown between the Queen of Darkness and the forces of Paladine, and Huma is on the road to possibly finding the key to victory that can bring an end to this war.

Chruser:
Thank you, the artists that work for us are extremely talented. They are highly motivated as well, since they are working on the comic book adaptation of bestselling fantasy/scifi authors. So far we sold out of George R.R. Martin's the Hedge Knight, which sold out within a week of hitting the comic book stores. We are also doing Robert Silverberg, Tad Williams, Raymond E. Feist, Anne McCaffrey, and the rest we are not able to mention at this time.

We have some pretty famous authors working for us: The Hilderbrandt Brothers, Michael Kaluta, and Boris Vallejo Vallejo and Julie Bell to name a few. I can't draw, my stick figures are horrible, lol. If you want to see the Boris cover and the Michael Kaluta cover please let me know.

Undeadzombieguy:
I wish that God had blessed me with an artistic talent like yourself, my friend, but unfortunately, I can't draw, and my stick figures are absolutely horrible, lol :)

Randuin:
Wait until you see some of our finished pages ;)

Titusfied
2003-10-09, 03:52 PM
I like to draw, but just as a hobby, nothing more really. I'm not bad, but my talent ends at copying others work. I can draw just about anything anyone else can, but when forced to make up my own work, I'm pathetic to say the least. I always found that weird, but I can't help it.

I think a Forum like this would be very interesting. It would also encourage me to start drawing again. :)

Khan, please don't advertise in this forum. Alright? If you need to advertise, do it elsewhere. You've been posting (to my knowledge) artwork from people that work for you, or are affiliated to you through the workplace. If that is the case, then this should not even be here in this forum because it is not your work.

If these artists want to post their work here, they need to do it themselves, not let a spokesman who may be doing it without their knowledge.

Medieval Bob
2003-12-04, 06:25 PM
While you're right about the advertising, (though I don't agree with the rule at all. I don't see any problem with allowing people the opportunity to get this comic.) there is nothing wrong with him posting the pictures here. He is not violating any copyright laws, nor is he claiming anything false. If he wants to post the work of those who are drawing pictures for his company, that's his prerogative, and there is no fault in it.

Tai
2003-12-05, 01:19 AM
If he wants to advertise he needs to do it in a better forum so more people will see it. And technically, to use individual art you do need permission. And second, he doesn't actually name the artist, that's also something he'd need to do. One reason being as an artist myself, if people want to post my pictures elsewhere, they usually, or will always (if they havent dug the pic out of a nameless bin on the internet) will atleast mention who the artist was or is. And from that, maybe they have their own site, and people who view them can go see more.

It's not like I'm going to close this thread or remove it, this is just a finger waging and a reminder.

Medieval Bob
2003-12-05, 08:36 AM
Actually, I believe that if they're artists under his employ making artwork for his company, he can do whatever the fuck he wants with the pictures.

Wow, I didn't know that I had caused such a fuss while I was gone. I see where you are coming from Admin, but you need not worry about my artists, because in my company my artists and I are like family we don't have any problems at all with one another. So even though I'm happy that you care about them but they are okay and very happy to work with me. As Senior Member mentioned to you the artwork that my artists drew for me I can do whatever that I want with them since I licensed out the fantasy properties and not the artists. But one thing that we do allow is for our artists to own and keep the originals that they draw, which they can then sell for extra income, some other comic book companies don't even allow them to do that. but as for letting fantasy fans everywhere know that we are adapting some of the New York time bestselling favorite novels in comic book format we have to let them know, because if the comic books succeed then we get to do more. By the way you mentioned that you are an artist, please e-mail me at [email protected] with some of your pictures if you are interested in showing me some of your work. Thanks.

Pwn.

Oh, I've got a quick question. I suppose I could just read the books and find out, but I'm finishing Preludes II right now.

Is Magius just as famed as Huma, only with different people? Or perhaps Madius is simply overshadowed by the legend that is Huma. I've always enjoyed the mages in Dragonlance much more than the fighters (Caramon excluded of course... and Flint because he's got such a lovable personality).

::Edit::

After I posted, it took me to the top of the page, and I saw that picture again. I really like that one. *Right click* *Set as background*

Also, I've reviewed all the pictures. This one in particular I liked originally. http://www.newsarama.com/Devils_Due/dl_cover_2.jpg

However, the tail needs a different sort of texture. Compared to the rest of the dragon, it's sort of... monotonous. Also, Is the cape being blown in the wind? I can't exactly say why, but I think it would look a lot better if it were just resting.

Anyhow, I like the picture you just posted. There are only two things I don't like about it.

1. The end of the cape looks disproportional to the rest of it. It looks like there is a bit of cloth trailing off the end of it.

2. The blue dragon on the right side seems to be missing a rear leg...

Other that that, it is a spectacular picture. The lighting on the dragon in the foreground is great, and I like the overall style of the picture.

Medieval Bob, my friend, first off I like your Avatar, it's really cool :)

Okay, I'll try to answer your question to the best of my abilities :)

Yes, Magius is as famed as Huma in the fact that all future mages in Krynn wears daggers in honor of him. But you are right his fame is indeed overshadowed by the legend of Huma. Magius had the possibility to be as great as Raistlin but certain factors kept him from doing that. I think that you'll definitely enjoy Magius and you'll definitely get a good laugh when you read about his relationship with Kaz, the Minotaur.

I'm happy that you like that poster. You can order it from your comic book retailer and it'll be yours :) I see what you mean. We made this poster as a sort of Collage, which allowed the artist alot of leeway to a certain extent that is.

1. Many fans thought that the cape was well done, because as a Knight of the Crown, Huma did not have the best cloak like a rich Knight of the Rose could afford, and as he never had a change of cloaks throughout the war and always being in the thick of battle they thought that it looked as if the cape had been ripped during his many battles.

2. As for the blue dragon, you are the first one to notice that his leg has been bit off. Wow, I thought that no one would have noticed. You have great eye for details, my friend.

I'm happy that you like what you see though :)

Here is the penciled and inked cover to Raymond E. Feist, The Woodboy, it has yet to be colored, but I wanted to give you all a sneek peek, enjoy :)

Legend of Huma Comic - Ashcan Edition

Devil's Due has put out some new ashcans - one side being G.I.Joe, and the other being The Legend of Huma. Most retailers have received a few copies. Be sure to stop by your local comic shop and pick up one of these ashcan editions. Not only is it a taste of what's to come, but it will make a nice collector's piece.
