It says that a FF7 sequel might be coming to the PSP, I'm not saying it's factual but it's interesting, and they did make a sequel to FF10, which I thought sucked.

Sequels almost always blow. But anyways, Xenn, the only reason they could make a sequel to FFX was because it used the same engine to run on. If they made a new Final Fantasy VII, they would have to make a completely new graphics engine.

They've said themselves that a sequal to FF7 is unlikely because they would have to make a new engine, so I guess they don't still have the old one.

Umm... no. Nobody has any idea what it will be like. Also, I'm sure they have the old engine. It's pretty hard not to have it.

But they're thinking about all gamers when they design their games, not just the FFVI loyal fans. And who would want a close to 10 year old graphics engine on their 2004-2005 gaming console?

I'm sorry if you don't understand what I'm saying, but I haven't slept in almost 30 hours and have the worst toothache ever.

I'm saving this post for years to come. The first spelling mistake I've ever witnessed you make. Although I'm sure it was just frantic fingers trying to type too fast, its all the worth it!

Anyway, as long as it comes, I'll be happy. This actually cleared up why my one friend was so persistent on calling the next FF, FFX-2, and not FF12 or FFXII.

Wether Square do or dont release Final Fantasy VII 2 it is undenyable that they should. FF7 is a classic and has grown in popularity hugely even so long after it's initial release. The most well thought iut RPG shoul return in improved graphics with all the old characters (a "reunion") of course excluding Aeris... unless she can be brought back.....

I've got a big, "Why?" FF6 was ever so much more popular (as well as better) than FF7. While I don't really want to see a sequel to any of them, as I think it doesn't really do justice to the series, I believe it would best be suited to the classics.

I'm VERY apprehensive about a FFVII-2. If I wanted FFX-2 the way they made it, I would have bought an X-Box and gotten DoA Extreme Beach Volleball.

If they do make FFVII a sequel, I sure as hell hope that 1) they don't have Lance Bass do Sephiroth's voice again, and 2) that the storyline not drop all of the main male characters and revolve around Aeris, Tifa, and Yuffie...

Well lets just put it this way, A sequel to FFVII and the FFX-2

Yes, yes it was. And on a side note... the PSP is supposed to be 32bit which is the same as the PS1 ( or PSX until they decided that because no one called it that that they'd just make a whole new thing called the PSX [ the PS2++++ thing is called PSX, for all you dummies out there] I'm still not quite sure why people stopped calling it PSX but I think it has something to do with PSone. )

I don't think next month is eve close to the release date. When I was perusing google last night looking for cool pictures of Sephiroth for that Battle thread, I came across a link that said the sequel will not be out for quite longer than initially anticipated.

Maybe I am wrong, or maybe this site was... Can you post that link Rurouni?

Bad idea, bad idea, bad idea. Why do they have to do this? The Final Fantasy games have always been stand-alones. Doesn't Square realize that this is going to be nothing short of total distaster? They can not produce a game that will live up to the original in the eyes of the Sephiroth-worshiping fanboy legions. Square, if you're gonna make sequels, then keep making them for shitty games like FF10. Don't screw yourself in the ass by trying to reproduce the success of the good ones.

I agree with you Raz. The storylines of FF games don't really leave anything open for a sequel, unlike Suikoden or Arc the Lad (though ToS was a bit of a stretch)

There all dead at the end of FF7, after the credits it says something like 1000 years later and it shows RedXIII with his kids.

I think it was more like 500 years after...but then again, I would really love a sequel! Reworked artwork and the like! Go, Pretty Boy Triad! ^o^ (Sephiroth, Cloud, and Vincent) Now I am beginning to wonder if they're doing sequels for the other installments, too...
