It isn't the hardest thing to make, but I think it looks nice enough to get posted. Try not to comment on lack of talent, but more on how it looks.

Thanks.

Pretty cool, it doesn't really have a "crest."

Randuin
2003-02-18, 07:42 PM
wow to think you've had enough of that abstract crap =\ it looks pretty good i guess... =\

Jamesadin
2003-02-18, 07:45 PM
Lol, well most of you are light years ahead of my skill.

Randuin
2003-02-18, 07:58 PM
you're right we are :D

Acer
2003-02-18, 08:24 PM
It does look night, simple but nice a good Wallpaper for older people.

*yawns* I've always heard to properly and fully use 3D engines, you have to be able to draw by hand in 2D first.

Jamesadin
2003-02-19, 06:47 AM
I wouldn't really call this a 3d engine.

Randuin
2003-02-19, 09:04 AM
i don't think tai knows what he's talking about

Acer
2003-02-19, 11:19 AM
You dont know how to draw, it helps out tho. Its all artistic skills.

Randuin
2003-02-19, 04:23 PM
you don't need to learn to draw... that's what concept artists are hired for =\

Acer
2003-02-20, 08:13 PM
I agree, like I said it helps, but if you gave me a pencil and told me to draw, you will get a smiley face and thats it. If I put my time into it, I can make some great art on computer. My step-dad has been drawing/painting forever, and he learns quicker than me, but doesnt mean you have ot know how to draw.

Randuin
2003-02-21, 08:43 AM
ya... for 3d... drawing is basically practicing your anatomy (which you can learn with 3d anyway) and using your drawings as a reference but we can always hire concept artists to do that... i myself can draw reasonably well (among the general 3d public, not professional concept artists) so i don't have to waste money on concept artists :)

Acer
2003-02-21, 03:32 PM
Yeah I cant draw at all, so me and a friend are going to team up. He draws, I model, he textures, and I animate :P

Randuin
2003-02-21, 05:09 PM
ooo textures? does he have a tablet? they make your life a HELL alot easier

Acer
2003-02-21, 06:15 PM
I dunno, I just he like to texture stuff, he dosent have inet yet, so just downloads stuff here like Models and then textures them.

Randuin
2003-02-21, 06:33 PM
well he should really get a tablet if he doesn't have one... he can really get pro :D

Acer
2003-02-21, 07:55 PM
What is a tablet? I want to learn about texturing too :P

Tai
2003-02-21, 08:08 PM
i don't think tai knows what he's talking about

Actually, I do. If an artist can do what someone does with a 3d program, without the tools they used, they'll be much much more capable when they DO use the tools they used. *shrugs* I don't exactly peg alot or any of the people here as artists.

Randuin
2003-02-21, 08:08 PM
tablet is a thing you plug into your computer it's like a pad thing and you get a pen so it's easier to use the mouse to draw... it makes it feel like a real pen/pencil... like a palm :)

Acer
2003-02-21, 08:40 PM
Oh I seen those, his GrandFather has one for his Art. I dont think he has one, they cost a lot, right?

Randuin
2003-02-21, 09:13 PM
not really... 300~ for a pretty good one... i say that's pretty good ;)

Acer
2003-02-21, 10:17 PM
wow, i was thinking a lot higher than that, do you know a link to one? just so I can check it out?

Randuin
2003-02-21, 10:23 PM
wacom is the company that make them i think... i don't have a link right off the top of my head but if you go search on google i don' think it should be long til you get some results :)

Acer
2003-02-21, 10:28 PM
ok thanks, that seems very interesting

Randuin
2003-02-21, 10:32 PM
nod you can get a bigger pad... it's just more expensive :) but i find the 300~ one sufficient enough and good enough :)

Acer
2003-02-21, 10:43 PM
If my friend dosent have one of those, I am most likely sure he would get one. He has so much money it makes me sick :P

Randuin
2003-02-21, 10:46 PM
lol ya there are people like that... anyway... get a pad, it'll definitely help you with your texturing work and your CG painting work in general :) very useful in deed i'd say

Acer
2003-02-21, 10:52 PM
Yeah I am going to look those up for sure, if anything my step-dad(he can draw very well) would help me get it since he would love to use it himself.

Randuin
2003-02-21, 11:18 PM
nod definitely :) i've been wanting to color my hand draw drawings on the computer for years... taking that i'm getting a tablet soon that may be possible :D

Acer
2003-02-21, 11:57 PM
Nice, yeah thanks for letting me know about those, I told my cousin once I should invite something like that... in these days people think of new things to quickly :P

Randuin
2003-02-22, 01:40 AM
you know the great thing about this? (btw bezier: you should get this) it is pressure detect... i mean c'mon... can you say air brushing heaven? :D

Acer
2003-02-22, 10:37 AM
what size tablet is a good avg one?

Randuin
2003-02-22, 10:55 AM
try the 300 one that would be plenty i say

Acer
2003-02-22, 10:57 AM
what is the Size of them? like inch wise?

Randuin
2003-02-22, 11:04 AM
not sure, again check the wacom website :D

Acer
2003-02-22, 11:18 AM
ok, I just noticed something do they display the screen? I will just go to the site and see.

Randuin
2003-02-22, 11:40 AM
only tablet PCs display the screen, normal tablets only move the mouse on your screen :)

Acer
2003-02-22, 12:02 PM
I am thinking of getting a tablet PC, I know it would cost more... but would be worth it. My grandparents would loan me the money. I seen one for 2k, it was 21inch very nice but to much $$ for me :P

Jamesadin
2003-02-22, 01:43 PM
Acer Randuin Acer Randuin Acer Randuin etc. lol

Randuin
2003-02-22, 02:16 PM
yes tablet PC are replacement for laptops/palms and yes james we practicaly own this place :D

Acer
2003-02-22, 02:44 PM
lol I know most threads are like that in Graphic Section, we need more traffic!
Yeah it would help if I could draw on the screen so that is why I would go with those kind.

I think we should nominate Randuin as Graphic Section Mod!

Randuin
2003-02-22, 04:07 PM
and you because we practically own this place... lol

Acer
2003-02-22, 05:56 PM
hehe I agree, not saying the Current mods are bad, it is just I dont ever seen them in here, not that there is a reason right now, it is just me and you owning the place lol

Randuin
2003-02-22, 06:05 PM
oh but you're wrong... one of the current mod IS bad... natewogg is a fucking n00b and should be kept out

Acer
2003-02-22, 06:11 PM
Well I didnt know that, since he is never in here. He wont ever see this post I bet :P

Randuin
2003-02-22, 06:12 PM
probly not... i don't see why he ever got moded=\

Acer
2003-02-22, 06:17 PM
Who knows... except Zel and taco. Bezier, I cant understand. He has good images as I seen. I just dont ever see him :)

Randuin
2003-02-22, 06:19 PM
he used to be here alot... but i dunno what happened to him... he even IMed today morning saying that i'm picking LW quite fast

Acer
2003-02-22, 06:24 PM
so he must be in the section, just not posting?

Randuin
2003-02-22, 06:25 PM
yes he's a moderator not a poster like us... he just sits around and well... moderate :D

Acer
2003-02-22, 06:52 PM
Yeah, well he is doing a good job, people think they can step out of line thinking maybe the mod isnt watching, and out like a ghost he attacks :)

Randuin
2003-02-22, 09:00 PM
ya... well still =\ he's still not here as much as us ;)

Jamesadin
2003-02-23, 08:13 AM
Yeah, from what I can see he is still moderating, just not posting as much.

Acer
2003-02-23, 12:40 PM
Yeah, from what I can see he is still moderating, just not posting as much.
Bezier, right?
Yeah thats what mods do, but I think he should post too, to let us know he is alive.

Randuin
2003-02-23, 07:35 PM
ya... i remember back in the old days... when answer wasn't here for so friggin long and got demoded

Jamesadin
2003-02-24, 09:06 AM
Yeah Answer and Darkphenox. (I cant spell)

Acer
2003-02-24, 11:35 AM
I cant spell either, but I still think Mods should post. A mod IMO is someone who is a Guru(or knows quite a bit of the subject), and answers questions, helps people etc. Also doing Mod things.

Randuin
2003-02-24, 04:40 PM
it's pheonix... ya mods are here to help if they don't even post how do they help?

Acer
2003-02-24, 05:17 PM
yep, that is why when you pick a mod, pick the one in the subjects area. I think the only mods who should be mods that have no clue in this area are Supreme Mods and Admins.. we all know those reasons.

Randuin
2003-02-24, 05:23 PM
i used to be supreme moderator, until asses like jamesadin complained to much so i resigned

Acer
2003-02-24, 05:39 PM
Really, what happend, what did you do wrong... that is no good.

Randuin
2003-02-24, 06:29 PM
i didn't do much wrong... all i did was keeping this place active... but i guess they didn't really like me flaming all the d2 ppl :D

Acer
2003-02-24, 08:03 PM
lol, well D2 has died. It "was" my favorite game back in the days.

Randuin
2003-02-24, 08:37 PM
it WAS a good game but never enough to be my FAVORITE game :D

Acer
2003-02-24, 08:49 PM
I should say, it was my Favorite to play at the time. My favorite game was Legends of Kesmai. It was bought and shut down by EA games :(

Randuin
2003-02-24, 09:10 PM
my favorite game will have to be... MINE SWEEPER :D

Acer
2003-02-24, 11:48 PM
lol, I dont even know how to play that game. I want to, once I get good enought at programming. I want to recreate Legends of Kesmai so badly.

Randuin
2003-02-25, 12:17 AM
minesweeper is the best game it's so easy to play :) don't you ever read the instructions?

Acer
2003-02-25, 01:30 AM
Nope, I am more into Mutli Games anyways. Ever heard of LOK(legends of kesmai)? I asked EA if I could buy the game off them, and they wont respond. Lots of LOK fans tried to boycott EA Games, but I was like forget that, I like EA Games :P

Randuin
2003-02-25, 07:59 AM
i've been to EA games :D got a free copy of dungeon keeper 2, because i was at a school choir and we went to EA games (i dunno to soothe the workers? :D) and we got a free tour of the place... it was awesome, they had an arcade, the game testing room and the room where they recorded all the action of stars for sports games is very cool :)

Jamesadin
2003-02-25, 09:04 AM
i used to be supreme moderator, until asses like jamesadin complained to much so i resigned

I never complained, you resigned and I got the spot.

Randuin
2003-02-25, 09:21 AM
sure dude... whatever ;)

Jamesadin
2003-02-25, 10:04 AM
If you have proof I will believe you. If you show me a link of where I said it I will believe you.

You brought it onto yourself.

Anyways, we have been offtopic for three pages now. LEts get back on track.

Acer
2003-02-25, 12:19 PM
Off-topic? I guess so but there is no one here to talk about the topic... I say it was nice and you should learn LW if you want. It isnt that hard.

Randuin
2003-02-25, 04:30 PM
nay... 3dsmax is the easiest

Acer
2003-02-25, 05:34 PM
It might be, but I say he would get more help here with LW.

Randuin
2003-02-25, 07:49 PM
not really he'll get more help ANYWHERE with 3dsmax :D

Acer
2003-02-25, 09:30 PM
not really he'll get more help ANYWHERE with 3dsmax :D

True, but I was speaking of here ;p

Randuin
2003-02-25, 10:51 PM
you can still get 3dsmax help here :)

Acer
2003-02-26, 03:17 PM
I know, but with you and me learing LW, and Chruser already knowing it. I was saying LW.

Randuin
2003-02-26, 03:26 PM
i'm learning LW =\ i'm just poking at it :)

Acer
2003-02-27, 09:50 AM
yeah, but you still can help people who are new. You helped me :p

Randuin
2003-02-27, 04:27 PM
i dunno i really want to get good at maya tho :)

Acer
2003-02-27, 04:57 PM
Good idea, get good at one thing rather then know a lot of stuff :)

Randuin
2003-02-27, 08:02 PM
nod but i'm basically trying most things out, lightwave is hell good at architectual modelling, layers rock (some other packages offer layers too... but they don't work half as well as LW's layering system) the only thing i don't like LW now is the seperation between modeler and layout AND how move/rotate whatever have no handles :D

Acer
2003-02-28, 11:40 AM
The move/rotate is something I agree with but I love the modeler and layout seperate.

Randuin
2003-02-28, 09:54 PM
ya handles would make it HELL alot easier to rotate and especially... bend... oh ya and bevel too :0

Acer
2003-02-28, 10:30 PM
Maybe they will have those in the v8 series and so on.

RoboticSilence
2003-02-28, 10:39 PM
i don't think tai knows what he's talking about

Hmm... wrong.

Acer
2003-02-28, 10:53 PM
why wrong? so I know...
