Well, well, well, it seems like I made another wallpaper-size image for you guys. It's a tad over-blurred and fairly simplistic, but I hope you'll enjoy it.

Unfortunately, I use 1280x1024... so this looks like balls for me.

Irony.
a perfect size for me, looks great.

Irony.
Indeed. Well, it isn't exactly irony (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=irony), but it's funnier that way.

The table should be the one blurred (partially).
Randuin
2003-02-16, 02:11 PM
nice use of depth of field except the camera should be focused on the balls like bezier said
Chruser
2003-02-16, 04:10 PM
Bezier said the table should be blurred, which it is in the front. And the focal length is set to the last ball, so pay attention before commenting. :)
Bezier
2003-02-16, 05:00 PM
Put it this way: the sharpest and most attractive part of the image is the wooden table, regardless of how blurry the focal ball is.
Still, the balls are too blurry to be a focal point.
Sharpen up the focal ball and change the background to something less eye catching, then update it. =)
Randuin
2003-02-16, 06:41 PM
blurred non-focal point samething :D just put make the ballz none blurry plz
the table looks better than the balls. which is your focal point anyhow? i think you should make it the table
Randuin
2003-02-16, 07:04 PM
doesn't even look like table to me... looks like... wooden planks on the floor

Same, I think it looks fine to me. In r/l shiny ball bearings look blurry from a distance, much like they do in Chruser's piece.

A table as in a picnic table. =)

Are you a wanna be flamer Rand?
Randuin
2003-02-17, 08:42 AM
not really do you?
I like it, it seems classical, anyways badboy, you have gotten off-topic on almost every post of yours.

Jizmo > read rules and please make INTELLIGENT responses like "the wood looks as if it were real"... not "I like it."
I would say the focus on the wood is better, since the wood has more detail in the first place.

you know? just one word off topic, this graphic section is reallly getting together... before, this forum was filled purely with crap like "NEW AVA, RATE" and the avatar looks extremely n00bish, but now we're actually doing graphics talking =\ need more gurus tho
Yeah, I didnt spend to much time at Zel, because D2 was that big topic, and I was here for the Programming / Web Design and Graphics section, now that people are posting and there is more traffic.... I been hear atleast 5-8 times a day.
Randuin
2003-02-21, 05:08 PM
yup :) we need to attract more graphics gurus
I will try and find some and bring them here :) I will go to like HL Mod Modelers and such.
Randuin
2003-02-21, 06:34 PM
definitely :) but IMO... CS/HL models are like... EXTREMELY low poly :) so... i dunno... heh
well it will bring more traffic here atlease :P
Randuin
2003-02-21, 08:07 PM
true... but i don't know... i would rather have quality traffic than just traffic for the sake of traffic... you getting what i'm talking about?
Yeah, you are right, I guess since they are better than I... it sounded good. I will look for some creative designers with skill. What area do we want more, 3D or 2D types? I say 3D since there are plenty of places to talk about 2D types.

when i saw that my balls got cold o_O
Randuin
2003-02-21, 09:07 PM
get both... just bezier alone is not enough :)
I was thinking of asking Zelaron to open a section for Mod Dev. but we dont have enough programmers/artist to keep it busy yet. So I decided not to, but if we get enough traffic of both... maybe he would be interested.
Randuin
2003-02-21, 10:13 PM
well... me and chruser talked and we're planning to open www.3dcorner.com
oh sounds nice, what will it be about?
Randuin
2003-02-21, 10:22 PM
well exactly we're thinking of www.cgcorner.com instead and hence the name... it'll be about cg :)
Nice, I seen many Graphic Sites out there with forums... but just noobs in there and I cant adv., I am a noob but when I mean noob I mean retards who can figure anything out.
Randuin
2003-02-21, 10:34 PM
ya... too many n00bs and too little gurus... because most gurus are busy with production and can't help us with our insignificant problems :)
I want to be a guru so bad, I would love answering questions but I am still a noob myself.
Randuin
2003-02-21, 10:47 PM
well you can probly answer questions to even newer newbies right now :D since you already know the basics mostly of LW... and i know nothing of it :D and plus... ur awake in this time zone... hehe
yeah I guess you are right, I got into flash so much cuz I knew it so well but with the new versions I am almost a noob again.
Randuin
2003-02-21, 10:49 PM
lol i have 500 dollars worth of training for flash... and i still hate it =\ :)
lol, it was fun at first, since I didnt know PhotoShop, or any 3DG progs, and I learned it myself, there weren't any tuts really at the time.
Randuin
2003-02-21, 11:18 PM
nod... flash is pretty fun i guess... taking that gif totally sux and it was only thing for every common person to make animations :)
Yeah it is also good for Web Apps, that is where I was strong in was the code.
Randuin
2003-02-22, 01:39 AM
ahh... yes actionscript, i heard you can get decent 3d effects with flash :D
Yep, and it runs so well for the web. I bet in the further it will have OpenGL codeing.
Randuin
2003-02-22, 11:07 AM
have you seen some of the guru work of flash on the net? they're amazing it's like a 3d animation almost
Yep, i use to work with them at www.were-here.com. Some of the best were there and now the site is down :( They would write there own 3D Engines in Flash... very nice stuff
Randuin
2003-02-22, 11:35 AM
nod some of them just make me want to worship them lol but hell those animations mus take like years to make! :(
Yep, FlashKit had a tut on makeing a 3D Engine mainly for the use of a 3D Cube, very complex if you havent taken Calculas.
Randuin
2003-02-22, 02:24 PM
i'm 14... calculus is a bit out of my league :D
I know what you mean, when I was 11 they wanted to redo my math classes to where I would learn Calc when I was 13! I was like no, I dont want all that hardwork... I was just a kid.
Randuin
2003-02-22, 04:08 PM
wow that smart huh? =\ i'm better with computers be it graphics or coding :D
Yeah but for every strenght, there is a weakness. If you have noticed I cant Read/Write well. I am strong in math, and so weak in english :(
Randuin
2003-02-22, 06:04 PM
i'm good in english :) 98.9% last term...hehe
good job, we have State Test and I got like a 70-80% and I worked hard to get that... and math I got 99%(there is no 100% what is with that? you got all right and you got 99%?? odd as hell :P).
Randuin
2003-02-22, 06:22 PM
may be there is an invisible question and you have to have heat sensor vision to be able to see the question :D
Ahh, maybe so... that maybe the key I need to score my 100% :P
Randuin
2003-02-23, 07:41 PM
ya... anyway... i need to learn how to render good with LW :) i suck
badboy
2003-02-23, 08:08 PM
i am way out of my league here jesus
Randuin
2003-02-23, 09:58 PM
heh ya... now learn something :D
i am way out of my league here jesus
Well posting that isnt going to help :P
Just a month ago before I started posting here, I thought the same thing till I actually tried. So give it a shot and see what ya got.
Randuin
2003-02-24, 04:42 PM
ya try XSI i heard it's really cool on its rendering powers
Yeah I havent fooled with it yet... I want to get good at LW, then Maya then XSI... but I will give it to my friend, he wants to learn LW, but his dad wont let him have Pirate Software. XSI is kinda free.
Randuin
2003-02-24, 05:25 PM
only the EXP version is free :) and it doesn't have the cloth and fluid iirc
Yes, but that is all my friend can have openly :) I will give him lightwave anyways. His dad is wack, he is always searching my friends comp for porno, he cant have a life :P
On-Topic: I relized you make these pics quickly? Since you are always posting new ones ;P
Randuin
2003-02-24, 06:28 PM
lol ya :D anyway... there are almost free versions of every package out there...
3dsmax - gmax
lightwave - demo
XSI - EXP
houdini - apprentice
maya - PLE
really, eh I will get em then, are they Trail Versions?
Randuin
2003-02-24, 08:39 PM
yes all of them are trial version and houdini being the only one with COMPLETELY no missing feature what so ever
so XSI has missing features huh? well time to find the full thing :p
Randuin
2003-02-24, 09:08 PM
they all have missing features except maya :)
Well I got Maya already, so that is all good :p
Randuin
2003-02-25, 12:19 AM
i rephrase that... they all have missing features except houdini :D
I am scared of Houdini :p, but I am going to get it like in a month or so. Just to take a peek.
Randuin
2003-02-25, 07:56 AM
ya the houdini apprentice has everything the full houdini has so it's great to try :)
Hmm interesting. I just dont like how you said I couldnt use much of my LW skills with it.
Randuin
2003-02-25, 04:32 PM
well you can but it's gonna take a while to get used to houdini, the procedual workflow is amazingly powerful :D
Got any sites/images dealing with it?
Randuin
2003-02-25, 06:48 PM
you mean tutorails? not really.. or at least i can't find any

2003-02-25, 07:26 PM
One of my current fav's chruser... simply amazing. Your work is getting better and better.
Randuin
2003-02-25, 07:47 PM
that's because you're a trendwhore, i dunno his only impressive work that i will really bow down to him for is the room with the crazy volumetric lights and the organic modeling from the book by dan ablan (which i'm too lazy to follow :D)
Yes, but he is right... he is getting really good.
Randuin
2003-02-25, 10:53 PM
who is?

Randuin
2003-02-27, 04:31 PM
well that just depends who you compare him to
Well compared to himself a couple of months ago :)
Randuin
2003-02-27, 06:13 PM
well i guess if i do that i'll be like WOW i didn't even do 3d a couple of months ago :D
yeah I didnt do it 2 weeks ago :)
Randuin
2003-02-27, 06:40 PM
well i'm better... so... there :D
Yes you are, I dont have much time to work at it :(
Randuin
2003-02-27, 07:58 PM
same i want to get in more 2d stuff now... trying to fine tone my skills so i can do 3d better overall (learning scripting 2d texturing so on)
sounds good, I know a little programming openGL in VB. I learned from mantra
Randuin
2003-02-28, 09:57 PM
ah really? he helped you alot huh? :) definitely very cool :D
Yeah, he is a very nice guy. Like today in comp class, there is a site he should us, where you hold the button and it records how long you hold the button down. So he made a bot that held it auto lol. Just to make us laugh. We are thinking of makeing bots for Java games, for the hell of it lol.
