I rented it, and it was pretty fun.

I have it. It's great!
BTW... there's a new code for Donkey Kong 3..
www.animal-crossing.com
You have to input your game character's name / town. There's a flash banner there that you have to click on a few times.. but you'll find it pretty fast.
I still play it, and I've had it for.. let's see.. 2 months. I usually only play an hour or two a day, though.

what is this game about? crossing humans with animals?
BlueCube
2002-11-30, 11:15 AM
Nah, you buy a house, furnish it, talk to the neighbors (all animals), pay off your mortage, go fishing, dig up fossils..
It's like the Sims, I guess, but a lot better. (And there is no Bladder Meter)
Though, you can just chop down all the trees, trap neighbors with Pitfalls, beat them with nets, write them nasty letters, etc. (Though, they are unable to read those letters, it's funny to get a reply like "I loved your letter! Here's some fruit I found.")

sound like harvest moon :D
BlueCube
2002-11-30, 11:23 AM
Yeah, but it plays in real time.. no "going to sleep at 4:00 PM and waking up at 6:00 AM a few seconds later" stuff. Unless you "adjust" the Game Cube clock.
Randuin
2002-11-30, 11:24 AM
there's a gamecube clock?!
BlueCube
2002-11-30, 11:27 AM
Yes. Yes there is.
Hold the "A" button when you first start (with the little cube rolling around).
You'll go into a menu thingy. Hit "right" and you can see the current time / date. Press "A" to adjust this time / date.
Animal Crossing lets you do this within the game though, before you load your game off of the memory card..
Randuin
2002-11-30, 11:28 AM
wow cool :D
I wish you couldn't adjust the clock though.
Randuin
2002-11-30, 11:42 AM
ya so you can do that 6 second sleep thing :D
BlueCube

Just don't screw up and set it to 2003... Your entire village will be overrun with weeds, and you'll get cockroaches in your house.
Yes, it happened to me. I didn't want to wait a day to upgrade my house, so...
"Where have you been? I haven't seen you in.. let's see... 12 months!"
That's really all I use the clock trick for.. skipping ahead a day so something happens.
Randuin
2002-11-30, 11:48 AM
rofl that is crazy
Raziel
2002-11-30, 04:30 PM
I set the clock back if I miss a day or two. That's the only time I ever jack around with it.
By the way, Bluecube, how the hell do you use Pitfalls?! I haven't been able to figure out what the fuck they do!
BlueCube
2002-11-30, 04:33 PM
You bury them. If anyone walks over the little X spot where you put it, they'll fall in. That includes you, so remember where you buried it..
If the animals don't want to walk on it, just shove them onto it.
Randuin
2002-11-30, 04:34 PM
rofl what good will that do?
BlueCube
2002-11-30, 04:35 PM
None, really. It's just fun to shove people into pits.
Randuin
2002-11-30, 04:57 PM
lol do they get out after?
BlueCube
2002-11-30, 05:03 PM
Yeah, but they get really mad.
"Who's the idiot who put that there!!"

Yea, the game is the fucking shiznit! But the only thing thats bad is that I fucking need a memory card to go to different towns!
When you go to new towns, are they the same?

The landscape is the same but it has different people, fruits, locations for stuff, etc.
BlueCube

No, the landscape is different.. in some towns, for example, the river would be on the other side. And I had another memory card that had 2 cliffs.. it was mountain-a-licious. It's the same stuff, just arranged differently.
I haven't bought it yet, but plan to eventually.
I, at last count, had like 21 gams I own and plan o beating.
That's what you get when you own all 4 consoles and a gaming PC, and have like 600 emulator games on your PC: Too many game,s and not enough time :(

quikspy67
2003-01-08, 07:06 PM

GameCube
2003-01-09, 06:39 AM

quikspy67
2003-01-09, 02:54 PM
really they must have been decideing to make it when the 64 first came out
GameCube
2003-01-09, 03:32 PM
actually, they were making it right before the gamecube was announced, so they just decided to put it on the cube.
quikspy67
2003-01-09, 07:47 PM
well that sucks because if it was made on N64 it would be cheaper right now
Jamesadin
2003-01-09, 08:24 PM
Was Nintendo able to have enough memory space for it?
quikspy67
2003-01-09, 08:44 PM

BlueCube
2003-01-14, 02:39 PM
*sigh* I bet you're the same type of people that think Pac-Man is outdated and has bad graphics. Or Tetris.
The graphics fit the game. They are not bad at all.
It would not be as fun if the people were realistic, as you couldn't say that it's "you" in the game.
It would not be as fun if the animals were realistic, because then the lines they say wouldn't make sense from a real horse or squirrel.
It would not be as fun if the surrounding areas were realistic, as it wouldn't be as easily randomized, making all the towns look the same.
A bunch of cartoon trees that look the same does not look out of place. A bunch of realistic trees that look the same DOES look out of place.
Adding more detail to the world (such as more subtile bends in the river, or making the grass grow, or different tree graphics) would require two memory cards to save the data.
Get over it.

actually i like those games but i like whent new games come i want them to have good graphics

Jamesadin
